Hi all. I will bring my 11 year old nephew to Manchester in March to watch United vs Bournemouth. I have traveled before with friend on my own age, and had no trouble filling out rest of the weekend with bars, restaurants etc. Now, with him, it must be different. Have a couple of questions for you all, if you have the time to help.

Besides going to the match and visiting the museum / tour, is there something 'must do'. It's one of his biggest dreams (to visit Old Trafford), but I don't think he knows we will be spending 60 hours over there :)

And by the way. What about bringing him in to a bar before the game? Would be awesome for him to experience the build up together with other fans as well.

Thanks.

Steffen

Trafford centre is around the corner hot sea life and legoland there.

The Bishops Blaize will be ok for a kid that age.

I would NOT recommend the Trafford though, not with an 11yr old.

enjoy Manchester :-)

The university history museum is brilliant and free, you also have the national football museum in town, that's also free, I would also not recommend the Trafford for a nipper.

Daytona Manchester is up the road from OT, not that cheap but is pretty good.

Should be able to open a few doors as well on the keys.

Manchester Museum of Science and Industry is donation and has a lot spread over a few sites and kept my kid interested for a while.

I'm pretty sure the negativity will be well covered (I has already started), so I'm going to focus on what I consider positive!

Shaw: Looks so fit, great stamina, and finally shows everyone why we bought him last summer!

Schneiderlin: So pleased we bought him. Great work rate and brings much needed physically to our midfield.

Darmian: Very impressed so far. I forgot how it was to have a right back who can defend. Was troubled by a very good Villa LB, but did well.

Smalling: If he continues like he have started this season, who knows. He is a beast 1vs1.

And final words to Blind (better CB than Evans) and Januzaj for scoring!

I know a lot of you follow the younger lads, and I was wondering if anyone could share their opinion on Fosu-Mensah? I just read an article about him, and that he should/could join the team on pre-season. Its more thrilling seeing an academy player in the first team, than a "marquee signing", IMO.

Don't bite Ronnie, this is one of these one of these things that will end with you turning up at a house in Bruges to scout a young Belgian player, and finding a TV camera at the other side of the door.

2.) 07 May 2015 11:22:15
Going to be honest i've only seen a small amount from him and only know what i've read but here it goes:

He's fast and strong, built a bit like Zouma. He's 17 and has played internationals for Holland at u15, u16 & u17's level. He got to the 2014 U17 European Championship final with Holland but lost in the final (to England). He captained the nation team that tournament and has continued to since. He grabbed one goal and predominantly played CB. For a CB he has a keen eye for goal.

Rumours are that Fosu-Mensah, Pearson and Harrop will join LvG on the pre season tour.

There is plenty of praise for Fosu-Mensah around the world with one critic calling him one of the best u18 talents in Europe. He can also play CM because he has great technical ability for his age.

All in all it would be nice to see him on our tour, same with Pearson (who i rate v highly) and Harrop. But he's young, anything can happen, he could become another failure of our youth system. But if he continues the way he is and progresses in the way people predict, then expect him to be one of our first team defenders in 5-6 years time.

"I know a lot of you follow the younger lads".

Where do you even start with that one?

{Ed025's Note - that did make me smile noucamp.. :)

4.) 07 May 2015 11:47:42
He is very young and nowhere near ready for first team yet. He would probably have a good game or two but then would find it hard. I do not want our best youngsters to have their confidence dented and not progress because of this. Fergie knew how to bring them through

5.) 07 May 2015 12:27:10
Thanks for the reply HarryUTD and herefordred. Much appreciated!

And thanks for your contribution, Noucamp99 :)I can always use the excuse that English is my second language! But I smiled, so again. thanks.

That's alright Steffen.

I'll reiterate that anything can happen with the youngsters and he could be playing league two football for wycombe in years to come. But I've liked the litlle I've seen and people seem to rate him highly. And seeing as it is relevant at the moment.

Depay also played in a u17's European cup final. and scored.

What is your opinion on Cavani? I read a lot of places that he is linked to United. It is also reported he 'wants to leave PSG'. Liked him a lot when he played for Napoli, and he rarly plays his preferred position at PSG.

Would you like him joining United? If yes; why? And if no; why? We will need a new striker if RVP and Hernandez leaves. Would you fancy another striker?

Every time I have seen him play he has been aggressive, a strong front man and a bit of a beast. This year he has shown his adaptability. Was brilliant for napolI and I was hoping we got him then
The price tag is too much for me though

Hi all. Does anyone know if Di Maria is available on Sunday?

And what is your thoughts on the match? Judging by the Southampton and the Basel match, I don't think it will be a pretty game. Both teams will be afraid to loose, and considering last season, its so important for United to win (I'm not thinking about the points here).

Steffen

1.) Neither team is playing pretty football and would expect nothing but a hard grind with few opportunities. We are much better upfront and that is what i believe will make the difference.

2.) United to nick it by the odd goal, scousers always raise their game against us.

Can anyone of you describe those two for me? What their playstyle is like etc.? Who would you prefer if you could chose? I have never seen them play. Thanks.

I understand swedish, and I agree with your points. I got the same feeling as you. He also smiled a bit, when asked if it was appealing to him working with Mourinho again. But. with his experience with journalist, he could as well just playing with them (us), and he has signed for a club in USA.

It was not so much the place, but I visited London and watched United vs City in a small local sportsbar surrounded by 10-12 City supporters (I was there first). Then all of a sudden Owen made it 4-3 :) 10 seconds after that I had the bar for myself again.
