Just been looking at alphonso davies looks like a cracking young left back. What use think?

He's looked good the few times I've seen him. That said with Shaw on a large long term contract and Williams coming through and looking very good every time he's played I think we have plenty of cover at LB.

Same at RB to be honest, AWB, Dalot and Laird.

I don't think we will need to sign a full back for a few years.

I'd move Shaw on at some point. Not in January but either summer 2020 or 2021.

Mort, if Williams continues his development he will be the clubs first choice LB.

Which does put Shaw in a strange position, so much talent, but being pushed out of the side by a 19 year old when he himself is only 24.

I could see him moving on, the issue is he signed a new long term contract last year until 2023 with a 1 year extension option. His rumoured wages are around 190k per week. Not many clubs outside of the top 5 or 6 teams in the league could afford to match his wages, and I can't imagine any of those sides wanting to. So to leave he would have to take a significant pay cut.

I think he will stay long term, partially because he will have no where to go. But then he isn't a bad player, he just hasn't lived up to the hype around him from when he was a 17 year old playing every week in the EPL for Southampton. Not the worst back up option, although he is one of those players who needs to play every week to stay fit. So that could be a problem.

Sorry, I like William's, but still very rash at times. Nowhere near the finished article. No bad thing to have two young lads fighting it out for the spot.

5.) 19 Dec 2019 18:36:31
He can play lb left wing or right wing if needed. Just can't see luke shaw having the discipline to want be or try to be an outstanding left back.

6.) 19 Dec 2019 18:36:58
Stevie, Williams reminds me a bit of Rafael. Great going forward, great attitude and work rate, but a little rash at times with the ability to be hot headed if riled.

The talents there, he just needs game time to mature and iron out the kinks.

7.) 19 Dec 2019 19:31:08
I think Shaw will emulate Bale and morph into a dynamic flying winger,

8.) 19 Dec 2019 20:50:09
Morph onto the golf course more like lol.

9.) 19 Dec 2019 21:57:21
Morph into a doughnut.

10.) 19 Dec 2019 22:16:21
Unfortunately Tony the most likely "wing" Shaw will down comes out of a bargain bucket from KFC.

11.) 20 Dec 2019 04:27:14
lol Shappy.
Williams and Shaw can fight it out for the LB spot for now.
Williams has the nastiness in him which I like. Yes he is rash at times, but this is his debut season and therefore it's expected.

It will help us to invest significant amount in midfield and attack.

12.) 20 Dec 2019 10:19:21
Yet Guardiola spent a fortune on quality full backs when the ones he had weren't all that bad. This is all that we're saying about our own fullbacks.

Also, look at how Liverpool benefit from having top quality fullbacks. It's not an area of the pitch where we can afford to have mediocrity.

I think we need to spend serious money on some new full backs.

13.) 20 Dec 2019 15:11:53
Well RB we're alright on. AWB has been very good so far just needs to work on an end product. Dalot has potential just injuries have hampered him and Laird is a good prospect. Its LB we need to look at. Young most likely will be gone in the summer. Williams is developing. Its just Shaw is an issue.

Has he ever built a team or just inherited them?

Steve red

{Ed025's Note - a bit of both actually steve, he does need money and has always bought quality but he does improve sides, and he will need to have all that and a bit more if he is to turn us into a top 6 team mate..

Sport should bring people together not divide us. As for the Iran situation, state interference, telling athletes to lose because they will face Israeli competitors in the next round and that poor women setting her self on fire all because she wanted to watch a football match and got a six month prison sentence! #oneracehumanrace.
