Rumours that Renato Sanches is unsettled / Maybe available for transfer. Sorry ed not listened to sharkopod yet but wondered if a move was possible this summer or any inkling that this might be the case and that Bayern would let him leave for similar money in return?

Supasub

{Ed002's Note - He has been a disaster and if they could mug some club in to buying him they would - they are trying to get a replacement in. The player has not coped with the cultural change at all - Manchester United got lucky last year.}

1.) 13 May 2017 07:12:27
He's a 19 year old boy. Hopefully he will grow up to become the player he looks like he can be.

2.) 13 May 2017 08:56:40
Is he one of those players who are unwilling to adapt to a new country or is he homesick and will only ever be successful on the Iberian peninsula?

{Ed002's Note - It is not that he is unwilling it is that it can be very difficult to adapt where everything is cuturally different, where the language is a problem, where the food is different, where the weather is poor etc..}

3.) 13 May 2017 13:54:34
Never thought that joining Bayern was the best move for him, not surprised at all it hasn't worked out. Hopefully he get's back on track soon though, think he has great potential.

4.) 13 May 2017 14:32:19
I'd be delighted to have him. So dynamic, would compliment Pogba very well I think.

5.) 13 May 2017 15:04:24
Have you watched him this season fresh. He had a very good euros, was decent in the Portuguese league. Beyond that, he leaves a lot to be desired.

I'd rather a more experienced player with pedigree than sanches.

6.) 13 May 2017 16:00:44
He has so much potential but he just wasn't ready for such a high profile move. Probably lacks a bit of maturity. I watched a game on telly that he came on in, he looked lost. You're right ed, United definitely dodged a bullet there.
Hopefully he can get some good advice and make his next move right for him and realise his potential.

7.) 13 May 2017 16:56:19
25 games for a 19 year old at Bayern in his first season in a new country seems ok to me hope he is surplus and we take him cause the boy is a top talent but got to feeling he is playing understudy for next season its the Bayern way to ease talent in and let them grow. personaly i would like Nianggolon for midfield and if James Rodriguez is available him to. And Beloti looks perfect for the prem hope he on the radar but I know Jose will improve us dramatically no matter who the targets are, we have bags of cash and some big profile players leaving can't wait for the summer transfer window.

8.) 13 May 2017 18:52:17
I think he worth a chance for a reasonable fee, I wouldn't go over 25 million though, feel like Mourinho would look after him.

9.) 14 May 2017 08:23:41
Good point Shane - maybe the Portuguese connection would make him feel happier (though can't do anything about the rain! )

You'd think BM would've done more to help him settle in though, such as placing him with a Portuguese family/ privibding extra lessons at college. Maybe that's not how it works and I'm being naive - can't be easy for a young lad to adapt to a whole new situation, where everything would seem foreign.

10.) 14 May 2017 08:52:16
If he has struggled with language, food and weather then he will struggle just as much here so it probably wouldn't make sense spending big money on him right now. He may become great, he may not.

06 Jan 2017 12:07:46
Everton reportedly make a move for Manolas. wouldn't we be interested too if he's available unless other business is nearly done anyway.

Supasub

{Ed025's Note - he wants a move to a big club who are going places supasub.. :)

1.) 06 Jan 2017 12:48:22
He is a Briiliant player, Everton will do very well to sign him

{Ed025's Note - its just speculation at the moment mate but i agree that he would be a good signing..

2.) 06 Jan 2017 12:58:51
Ok get it Ed. At least the biggest club in Merseyside is a step up.

{Ed025's Note - nothing wrong with dreaming mate.. :)

3.) 06 Jan 2017 13:53:43
So not signing for everton then ed. Though on a serious note will you be able to afford him?

{Ed025's Note - we have loads of dosh CSM, not only moshiri but now usmanov wants a piece of us and hes richer than abramovic!, the futures bright mate... the future is blue.. :)

4.) 06 Jan 2017 14:36:48
You still got that church in part of goodison Ed? It's been a while since I've thought about it, an old Everton fan about 30 years ago used to tell me they wouldn't move which has always hampered increasing the size of the stadium.

{Ed025's Note - St lukes is still there supasub and it has always been a thorn in the side of any expansion to the ground, but that wont matter now as we will be getting a state of the art stadium at bramley moor dock in the near future mate..

5.) 11 Jan 2017 13:05:47
I would have thought a church being so close to Goodison, was rather handy, Ed025 :)

{Ed025's Note - sadly my prayers have not been answered noucamp...liverpool are still in the premier league mate.. :)

Just a message to Ed002. I don't mind if you give us a rundown after the transfer window just to remove the strange 1 time posters who seem to ruin it for some of us. Take your time. We know your a busy person and I'm sure we can all be patient and wait for your update.
I've been here for a few years and don't want to be cheesed off by a few suspicious random posters.
Enjoy a g and t or a sip or champers and give your insight when your ready.

Supasub

{Ed002's Note - I have been travelling for a month and I am either in my office or around the UK (oddly enough Manchester tomorrow night) most of the next two weeks - I will look to doing it late this week.}

1.) 12 Dec 2016 07:21:04
Thanks Ed, anything you can manage will be very much appreciated. You always sound so busy - hope you have a wonderful break over Christmas.

{Ed002's Note - You are terribly sweet.}

thanks ed002.

3.) 12 Dec 2016 12:47:40
Hope you don't mind me asking, just a little curious

Is Ed02 a football agent or works within the Football Industry itself? I really enjoy reading all the Eds insite to what's happening regarding the Football World

Anyway Merry Christmas to all the Eds and everyone on here, all the best everyone.

an early christmas present from Ed002

Thank you very much Ed002. Really looking forward to your update and insight into what the club are doing/ planning at this time of year and into the summer.

So ed002 offers a bit of insight on lindelof and it's in the Sunday press. Do the journalists bother researching or just come here for a bit of info?

Supasub

1.) 01 Dec 2016 11:25:15
i can't wait for Ed002's post/ podcast about Utd. Hope it comes soon:)

22 Oct 2016 20:14:55
Mkhitaryan and Rooney not travelled with squad.

Supasub

1.) 23 Oct 2016 13:10:58
dont no if its been covered but what is going on with mkhitaryan i no he had an injury but seems like he can get nowhere near the squad just wondering why.

{Ed002's Note - Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a decent player but comes with a lot of baggage. He moans a lot, was unhappy at Dortmund due to him seeing Klopp's panic-based kopflose huhn style of training and play creatively stifling (as did many other players at Dortmund). Chelsea switched their attention to Mkhitaryan briefly after losing out on Griezmann - but it went nowhere for a couple of reasons and they were quick to step away. Players who moan don't get far with Mr Mourinho.}

2.) 23 Oct 2016 15:47:42
Thanks ed2 sorry if it has been mentioned before was just wondering thanks for info.

{Ed002's Note - No problem Mark.}

3.) 23 Oct 2016 20:25:09
Why buy him then ed? I am genuinely confused? This is bewildering.

{Ed002's Note - That was a decision the club took.}

4.) 23 Oct 2016 22:32:08
Ed002, is there some sort of inherent issue behind the scenes at United that you know of? It just seems no matter who the manager, what system we use, what players we buy we look just the same, what's your opinion on united at present?

{Ed002's Note - There is no behind the scenes issue. Recent managerial choices have not been ideal by any means and some of the decisions taken over players has been very clearly wrong. Right now the club are working very, very hard to revamp the scouting system and will be looking to make changes in January. It is still reasonably early in the season and I am sure MU will be in the mix with five other sides or so for the top four positions come the end of the season.}

5.) 23 Oct 2016 23:24:20
Thanks for that Ed.

6.) 24 Oct 2016 14:16:15
Thanks Ed2 for your comments. It is somewhat reassuring that you think we are in the mix with the other 5. I sincerely hope we do not screw anymore than we can help.
Great to hear from you again.
Any rough indication on the positions that we are looking to strengthen pls? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Everything will become clear in the coming weeks.}

7.) 24 Oct 2016 14:23:47
Thanks for your prompt response.

8.) 24 Oct 2016 18:02:48
Doesn't Kdb have issues as well? . Jose needs to deal with it if he's good enough.

9.) 26 Oct 2016 09:54:36
Klopp's 'panic-based' style has netted Liverpool the most goals in the league. Some of these Dortmund players don't sound bright.

10.) 27 Oct 2016 00:43:34
Nick,

You've won the most goals over 10 games trophy, well done.

Can I still do predictions? Or am I too late? Sorry, started new job this week and wasting my life on this page isn't allowed during my day.

Supasub

{Ed007's Note - AJH's or the weekly score prediction competition? If it's the latter you've missed this week but can just start from next week and I've not done AJH's yet either, that closes when the window closes I think.}

1.) 12 Aug 2017 15:59:19
Supa, the predctions comp closes when the window closes, if you search you should find it but I'll be posting it a couple more times before the end of August.

2.) 12 Aug 2017 18:23:57
Please do.

3.) 12 Aug 2017 19:08:01

12 May 2017 13:07:01
Just looking forward to the final. Who plays in goal? What if it goes to penalties which it could given our lack of goals. Why do I think Romero has a particularly good record on penalties or am I getting confused with someone else? I'm not saying either way apart from you should play your best players regardless of sentiment so De Gea but I wouldn't be surprised if Romero started.

Supasub

1.) 12 May 2017 13:31:30
I would put Romero to start. It's being professional and respectful. He started all the way and I am sure DDG will understand.
If Jose thinks DDG is a better penalty stopper then he can be subbed in the extra time although it would massively insult Romero.
That said I have confidence Jose will put out the right team. All the way Man Utd.

2.) 12 May 2017 13:33:21
I think Romero will start and I'd say based on his performances he's done nothing wrong to drop him for. However, De Gea is the better keeper and if Jose is picking the best team he's 1st name on the team sheet.

3.) 12 May 2017 13:52:44
We had a debate on this the other day Supasub. General consensus was you stick with Romero. I and a few others said you go for your best goalkeeper and ignore the "fweelings" of professionals, especially when it is arguably the most important game for 10 years.

Wouldn't be surprised if the comments regarding Romero today about him loving Manchester are to do with him wanting to play in the final and trying to get a bit of support for that case. Looks good on the CV and may add a few USP's to the agents pitch in the summer.

I think the penalty save is Tim Krul (lol) .

4.) 12 May 2017 14:12:33
Romero has been fantastic in every Europa league game, he's the best back up goalkeeper in the league, it's a tough decision for Jose but whichever he goes with I'll be comfortable.

He has bigger worries elsewhere on the pitch now Bailly is out and Darmian is not a left back.

5.) 12 May 2017 14:15:49
‘There’s no dilemma, ’ he said. ‘They are two fantastic goalkeepers. I think it is fair Sergio is going to play the final and David accepts.
‘He accepts that because, especially, he has already played Europa League matches. If we win the trophy, David wins the trophy because he played three matches against Feyenoord and against Fenerbahce. But if everything goes normal and we have no problems, Sergio plays the final.

6.) 12 May 2017 15:33:03
There we have it then Oxford, thanks.

I hope the lack of professionalism doesn't come back to bite the manager. "Fairness" shouldn't feature in a game of this importance. He has given up any hope of Top 4 and supposedly put all his focus in the Europa League, yet wants to go into it with a 2nd rate goalkeeper rather than arguably the best in the world. Some stones on the man, hopefully they aren't in the head!

Romero hasn't done anything wrong, but not one person would pick Romero of DDG if their life depended on it. CL qualification is the footballing equivalent for us at the minute.

7.) 12 May 2017 16:17:40
Lack of professionalism haha gift that keeps on giving lately beasty boy.

8.) 12 May 2017 16:30:03
A professional is ruthless.

In a make or break winner takes all match, you give yourself the best possible chance to win with the tools at your disposal. The fact people are even deliberating the either/ or of this decision explains a lot about the tolerance for 2nd rate performances by some of our fans.

Jose needs all the help he can get at the minute, playing Romero over DDG tells me the manager is a flaker and has lost that winning mentality that got him to where he is. Explains a lot about our season.

9.) 12 May 2017 16:30:43
Haha thanks beast. Had a good chuckle at that one!

10.) 12 May 2017 16:46:21
U can throw a lot of things at mou but lack of a winning mentality is not one lol. This season he has benched a player many thought couldn't be benched. He has put pressure on players to up their games.

Beast u throw the "he put all his eggs in the el basket" well yeh he is ruthless enough to know hoping Liverpool drop enough points in 6-7 games to compensate our league games vs Chelsea, city, arsenal and spurs in that time is a bit far.

That's ruthless in my book. I'm sure u will soon it though.

11.) 12 May 2017 16:51:49
So playing your second string GK in a must win game makes sense to you guys?

When you have the worlds best on the bench. Weak if you ask me.

12.) 12 May 2017 17:23:50
Remember Fergie dropping Leighton for the FA Cup final replay? Broke Leighton. Don't know if I could have done that. Especially with someone I'd worked with for years. Tough one.

13.) 12 May 2017 17:41:41
Cup final, play your strongest team, no sentiment or fair play, play your strongest team for the best chance of winning the tournament, and that makes it a clear choice of who should play.

14.) 12 May 2017 17:42:14
Stevie - Yeah I do, that Cup final replay was the turning point for a generation, hopefully this one will be again. Shame for Jim of course, but no players is bigger than the club, especially a 2nd string Argie that is probably off in the Summer anyway!

Personally I'd find it very easy to pick DDG over Romero. However that's irrelevant, the manager of Man Utd should not have any problem doing it.

Besides Romero is no Jim Leighton, just like Jose by making this decision proves he is no SAF.

15.) 12 May 2017 17:46:27
its not as if his replacement is a rookie beast we are talking about Argentina's number 1.

16.) 12 May 2017 18:26:59
Not arguing with you Beast, just musing :) That's why I'm a lowly public servant, and not a manager. Too soft!

17.) 12 May 2017 18:53:12
Personally I'd play ddg and i'd have no issue doing so.
No reflection romero just that ddg is our no 1.

18.) 12 May 2017 18:56:11
99
But when les sealey come in we had a new cult hero .
I'm not sure how a player like that would go down now.

19.) 12 May 2017 19:23:31
Stevie - I thought it was a great point you made mate. It's quite funny how 25+ years on how we find ourselves in a similar position as a club. The result of this final could have lasting implications for many years, hopefully it heralds a new dawn.

20.) 12 May 2017 23:34:16
Do you really think Jose is going to pick Romero over DDG if he hasn't already agreed to join Real? I think you'll find Sergio our no1 next season and Dave playing in Madrid!

21.) 13 May 2017 01:41:46
Beast and others have a point. You have to play the best 11. And that means Dave the save plays! It is a shame, but sentiment should never come into it. We have to win! So you play to your strengths.

27 Apr 2017 14:18:19
I expect quite a bit of diving tonight especiallt in the penalty area trying to get one of ours sent off. Neither team will want to lose so i expect a low scoring game if there isn't an early goal. Do we need to win? Is a draw ok? A draw is better for city so who sits back / counters more?

Supasub

1.) 27 Apr 2017 15:54:05
I would take a draw tonight. I'd also take a draw against Arsenal and Tottenham. We just HAVE to win our other fixtures. Southampton away isn't cut and dry, we might drop points there. One thing is guaranteed between now and the end of the season is that the Scouse will drop silly points so we just have to avoid defeat to keep in contention.

We will be cautious tonight and I agree with that approach. There is no need to be going full throttle just yet. Just keep in contention and pounce when the time is right.

2.) 27 Apr 2017 16:28:11
After the last few performances, i'd be looking for a win tonight.

go back a few weeks and a draw would be a good result but recent games have left me feeling optimistic! I really didn't fancy us against chelski so who knows eh :-)

3.) 27 Apr 2017 16:55:50
Draw, shmaw. Kill, kill kill!

4.) 27 Apr 2017 17:13:57
hope we thrash them 1-0 in the 94th minute;)

5.) 27 Apr 2017 18:36:11
With a Costa own goal please cooky.

29 Mar 2017 22:29:49
I don't think Kane is as great as some people here make out. I think he looks better than what he really is due to a lot of the poor defending in the premier league. Quotes often in big games like Cl for Tottenham and important England games he is ineffective and found out against good defenders and good set ups.

Supasub

1.) 30 Mar 2017 06:12:56
IMO Kane is the real deal. Hasn't been a premier league starter for too long granted but is very consistent with his scoring. Does a lot of the basic things well and works hard for the team. I would love him at United but I don't know why he would want to leave Spurs and Levy would never sell.

Also, when have players typically stepped up during important games for England and how many big CL games have Spurs had?

2.) 30 Mar 2017 14:00:46
I think Kane is fairly slow and not particularly powerful. I think we need someone up top who has at least 1 of those strengths. I really don't get it regarding Kane. Maybe there is a real shortage in really good strikers which makes him stand out more than he would otherwise.

3.) 30 Mar 2017 15:55:54
Was RvN powerful or quick?

Kane has for several seasons now done the most difficult thing to do on a football pitch consistently which is put the ball in the back of the net.

Yes there are players who are more powerful, Yakubu and Gomis were well renown for their physical strength. And yes there are players who are quicker, Welbeck and Walcott spring to mind.

But Kane has been the most consistent goal scorer in the EPL over the last few years.

4.) 30 Mar 2017 15:59:15
Or maybe it's that he's scored twenty goals or more in each of the past three seasons.

5.) 30 Mar 2017 16:54:09
Kane is no RVN. But if you think he is then go ahead.

6.) 30 Mar 2017 18:17:30
Only 23 years old and has 65 league goals 95 games .

7.) 30 Mar 2017 20:06:24
The stats say he is good, my eyes are not convinced.

8.) 30 Mar 2017 20:27:46
You're an old man, with dodgy eyesight, Tony.

9.) 30 Mar 2017 23:48:08
It's the sight of you in your boots Stevie. Seriously, I know he score goals but to me he looks slow, cumbersome, and clunky.

10.) 31 Mar 2017 06:48:56
Are you looking for someone that scores goals or looks great in shorts?
😂.

11.) 31 Mar 2017 09:47:44
Lukaku can also be slowing, clunky and cumbersome. However, Kane is much more of a team player. I think he's a much better all-rounder. Have him in my team, every day of the week.

Sorry I thought you said rather spend £100 million on Harry Kane? Is this the Harry Kane who goes missing in Tottenham's European games against better organised defences, has failed to perform for competitive England games. I just don't get it. He is overrated, quite often sounds thick as sh*t, turns like the Arc Royal and all of a sudden is the dogs kajangas because he top scored in the premier league. He probably played in all of Tottenham's games. Watch him next season again in the CL and see how bag average he can be.

As long as they do chips and curry sauce at his local takeaway then he'll be just fine. Once he's settled in and if he wants to immerse himself into the culture, he might go for a chicken chow mein and a pancake roll, washed down with a bottle of Tsingtao of course.
