Eds.
Any of you lovely lot know anything official regarding the future of Pogba?
Also, will the summer window even happen with the current state of affairs?
Cheers.

T13

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed with Pogba - Mino wants Real Madrid to take him ideally but they are a little sick of trying to deal with the amateurs in Manchester and need to decide on priorities - but in any deal MU would have to accept a player as part of the transaction. It is the same with Juventus - they would be looking to include a player in any deal. The situation remains fluid timing wise at the moment}

1.) 28 Mar 2020 13:17:54
Ed 002. Based on the response given are Man United interested in any players from Real Madrid which will make the possibility of the deal easier or is it a case of Real Madrid offering players they want rid of and which Man United have no interest in at all.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United have not shown any interest in any Real Madrid players since they flirted with the likes of Ivan Rakitic, Kroos and Bale.}

2.) 29 Mar 2020 07:30:11
Ed002 you say real madrid are sick of dealing with amateurs and yet seem to be offering players we no longer have an interest in. Is it not possible that United are also sick of madrid flirting with one of our players offering a pittance of his worth with deadwood players of their own. With Ole now manager our whole tact on signings have changed with what looks to be a young and vibrant side being built so why would we want players madrid now deem not good enough.

{Ed002's Note - They have offered nobody so far.OGS does not define the transfer policy.}

3.) 29 Mar 2020 15:54:53
Ok so with ole out of the transfer strategy as a club we‘ve had no interest in Kroos, Rakitic or bale since previous managers/ transfer strategy. But as you say we would have to accept a player in exchange as part of the deal. My question is what players are Madrid willing to offer other than those mentioned that United may have an interest in? .
If same players are mentioned shouldn’t we consider Madrid as amateurs as we do not want said players now and Madrid know this hence the reluctance to deal.

{Ed002's Note - I am sorry, they have lots of players available, but sugegsting Madrid are amateurs is embarrassing and stupid. You should look for somewhere else to share you DF ideas.}

4.) 29 Mar 2020 22:32:57
Hi Ed002,

Thank you as always for the insights you are able to provide.

Further to the thread about any deal involving Pogba would require United to accept a player as part of the exchange: if Juventus are interested in taking Pogba, would United be interested in taking any of their players in return - any names in particular? I've read rumours from click-bait sources of Dybala and Pjanic being offered to United as part of any Pogba deal, but your insights and knowledge are the only sources I would trust.

Many thanks for any info you have time to provide.

{Ed002's Note - They have many players available. Panic and Costa have been of interest to Manchester United in the past.}

5.) 30 Mar 2020 11:50:08
In fairness, panic is one thing we have'nt been short of in recent years.

6.) 30 Mar 2020 13:57:42
Thanks Ed002, hope you’re staying well.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

7.) 13 Apr 2020 13:27:30
Watzke said that he wants €110M not €140m.

Romano also reported €110m.

02 Jan 2020 10:08:46
Ole apparently looking at 'one or two' midfield signings this window. Any ideas who he could be looking at Ed's?

T13

{Ed002's Note - I have given you a list of players I know that MU have looked at. I would not be so sure he is just looking at midfield, However, it seems reasonable that the club might not want to go over the top in January and one or two players seems appropriate.)

1.) 02 Jan 2020 10:52:56
McTominay is out for 2 months and Pogba requires a surgery on his foot.
The central midfield is paper thin right now.

There is no other option than to play Matic for the next 1 or 2 months.
A midfielder now seem must or the season could end pretty badly if our players succumb to more injuries.

2.) 02 Jan 2020 10:55:49
Hey ed002, happy new year and thanks in advance as always but do you think United will make at least 2 signings in this window. I know that is obviously subjective as its your opinion but based on what you know.

{Ed002's Note - It will depend on availability of players and their interest, critically, if the clubs agree to sell. Clubs will generally need replacements which compounds the problem. It would not be unreasonable for the club to try and make a couple of changes in January.}

3.) 02 Jan 2020 12:42:28
Why do I have a feeling we'll end up with someone like Emre Chan?

4.) 02 Jan 2020 12:35:01
Thanks very much Ed. Gent.

5.) 02 Jan 2020 13:07:53
I suppose the question is then is haaland a replacement for Sancho for this window. I'm not very familiar with dortmunds finances but I'd speculate if they needed to now sell for ffp maybe?
Juve have got that lad in aswell so maybe the Emre Can interest is genuine, perhaps Rabiot?
Dunno how happy I'd be with either but keeps me guessing anyways.
Dries Mertens would be someone very interesting, think contract is expiring in summer.

{Ed002's Note - No, Haaland is not a replacement for Sancho. They have no FFP issues at all.}

6.) 02 Jan 2020 13:57:27
Thank you for the clarification my editorial friend.

7.) 02 Jan 2020 17:18:23
Various media outlets reporting that United are interested in Can and Longstaff.
That is the kind of social media engagement that will get Woodward and Arnold's juices flowing.

8.) 02 Jan 2020 18:37:04
I wouldn’t be against Emre Can. I’d love to see them go for Grealish as well. He would be a very good signing.

9.) 02 Jan 2020 19:43:49
Pogba needs an operation on his foot 🤔prob needs a pedicure or at worse has an ingrown toe nail, nothing that he would fail a medical on I'm sure now we just need one of these clubs to make a suitable offer, at least get our money back if we are lucky.

10.) 02 Jan 2020 22:44:32
Not sure we should be looking down our noses at Emre can tbh. We could do a lot worse, and for a January signing who else would be available without a ridiculous amount to be paid?

28 Jul 2019 17:37:08
Reports that Bruno Fernandes is to be confirmed in the next 48hrs (£70m fee)

T13

{Ed004's Note - Hopefully they are correct. Maguire, Bruno and Pogba staying would be a very good window. Sign someone like Dybala and its a phenomenal one}

1.) 28 Jul 2019 17:46:49
I don't believe a word total lies.

2.) 28 Jul 2019 19:33:02
Hope this is true 🤞.

3.) 28 Jul 2019 20:04:22
Thingy's crossed.

4.) 28 Jul 2019 18:58:13
Ed 004 why do you think Pogba staying would be a good move? I don’t doubt his quality, but he barely ever produced it for us. He’s lazy and selfish on the pitch for us. Plus wants out, sooner he’s gone the Better.

{Ed004's Note - Because he is our best player. You surround him with quality players and he will produce the goods. Theres been no articles questioning his attitude at all pre season. Its been the complete opposite where he has been praised for his professionalism. I also think we have left it too late to adequately replace him before season starts}

5.) 28 Jul 2019 22:31:24
Well Bruno was in tears at the end of the game. Something going on.

I think we might get stuck with Pogba for another season.

{Ed0333's Note - I’d be in tears if I was signing for United also.

6.) 28 Jul 2019 23:26:04
Ed004 I agree with you he’s our best player, by that I mean most talented. But it doesn’t take away from the fact he’s not a team player. He wants everyone to do the hard graft for him to play the Hollywood pass. Always the same. I also don’t care if his attitude pre season has been good, last season I watched numerous games he let players literally walk past him without any effort to win the ball, players run off him with no effort again. When your a world class side you can carry a player or two like him. We cannot afford a luxury like that. So for me he needs to go.

7.) 29 Jul 2019 00:44:23
Ed004 I think people hate on Pogba easily and unfairly whilst the players and the manager have nothing but good things to say about him. Even if people don't see it the manager and players know what he means to the team and his importance to the team. Personally I really hope he stays and because of him other players actually have less pressure on them because the fans the media everybody just wants to focus on Pogba so Bruno or Dybala or who ever it is can only prosper for having Pogba here.

8.) 29 Jul 2019 09:33:43
To be fair to Pogba, since his comment about new challenges, his behaviour has been nothing other than professional. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes, but in public at least, he's doing the right things. No hissy fits or tantrums. Though, you could say that acting in a professional manner should be the very minimum that you would expect from a professional footballer.

9.) 29 Jul 2019 06:06:50
Ed0333 we’d all be in tears if you were signing for United.

{Ed0333's Note - Lets hope United can get their act together again as a strong Man United can only be beneficial for English football.

10.) 29 Jul 2019 07:44:35
Boom Ed0333.

Lisbon to Manchester quite the cultural shock. As an Manc in exile, have to say loving back there would not be on top of my to do list. although 200k per week might help.

{Ed0333's Note - not gonna lie Manchester is not my favorite city in the world but it could be worse I suppose.

11.) 29 Jul 2019 10:39:08
Ed0333- is he signing do you think?

{Ed0333's Note - I think it’s inevitable mate.

12.) 29 Jul 2019 12:55:36
Cheers mate, I hope so.

23 Jul 2019 09:57:40
Thoughts on reports that we 'want to land Paulo Dybala'?

He's a great player but how would he fit into the system?

T13

1.) 23 Jul 2019 10:37:28
Ed002 already confirmed that Juve may try to use him in a deal for Pogba.

I personally would prefer Fernandes for the No.10 role but Dybala would also be an improvement on what we currently have.

2.) 23 Jul 2019 12:40:25
Di Maria didn't want to join us, stayed a season and left at a loss.

Pogba didn't want to join us, but we were the only ones prepared to pay the price. Now he has been actively trying to leave for over 12 months.

According to Ed002 Dybala would rather move elsewhere and doesn't want to join us. At some point we need to stop signing players who don't want to play for us.

Dybala talent wise could be an excellent player. But if he doesn't want to join then it would be best to avoid signing him.

3.) 23 Jul 2019 13:31:56
Sign players who want to play for the club who will put in 100% week in, week out.

4.) 23 Jul 2019 15:05:46
I understand the sentiments and I agree with them.
However with us no longer in CL and looking like a team that is rebuilding, what top class players would want to play for us?
SMS would be awesome in my opinion but does he want to play for us?

5.) 23 Jul 2019 15:20:24
These players don't have to join us though. Surely they can refuse the move.

6.) 23 Jul 2019 16:24:51
They can Mort. However, as they get a cut of the transfer fee and higher wages more often than not I suspect they are "happy enough" to go through with the move. As we have seen players can and often do move a year or two after joining a club.

Would you be happy to move to another club if you would get 10m extra. After all it might only be for a year or two.

Di Maria reportedly made 14m from his one year move to Manchester. Or he could have sat on the bench at Real Madrid for a year to wait for his move to Paris.

Even I'd live in Manchester for a year for 14m. 🤣.

7.) 24 Jul 2019 09:11:48
Italian media is saying Dybala is open to a move. Us and PSG were mentioned.
They re also saying that if Dybala moves, Juventus can then go for Pogba.

8.) 24 Jul 2019 11:53:43
I suspect even Ed002 would live in Manchester for a year to earn 14M 😊.

9.) 24 Jul 2019 17:06:16
It’s possible that a move for Dybala (as long as he wants it) could mean this for us.

Dybala (70m) + 80M To United
Pogba to Juve (Pogba out)
That 80m could mean Maguire or Fernandes or SMS to Utd.

Would you swap Pogba for Dybala + 1 of the other 3?

That could see us add 2 good players without spending any more of the current budget!

Pogba for Dybala and Maguire then we go and buy SMS for the reported 67M
That’s a strong defence, strong spine and creativity behind the young front line

I would be tempted as this would improve us greatly with only 67M outlay on top of what has been spent on AWB + James.
Total revamp with 5 quality additions and a total spend of.

10.) 24 Jul 2019 20:18:54
Pogba for dybala an maguire 🤣🤣 think you been in the sun to long.

11.) 25 Jul 2019 00:59:59
Why is that Scouse?

The reports (if they are to be believed) say Pogba at 150M. Juve value Dybala at 70M.
Therefore Dybala + 80M gets Pogba for Juve. Remember they want Pogba.
Maguire is said to be available at 80-90M
Seems pretty straight forward to me.

But then I didn’t learn maths in Liverpool.

18 Feb 2017 18:42:23
Hi guys,
There's been talk (although admittedly limited), about sergio aguero possibly moving to the red side of Manchester in the summer.
Is there any truth to the rumours and would you lot like to see him in a Utd shirt or do we not want City's cast offs?
Personally rate him highly as a player but not sure whether it would be wiser to go for a younger player with similar skill in Antoine Greizmann?

T13

1.) 18 Feb 2017 19:38:39
Paper doesn't refuse ink. Man utd stories sell papers get clicks etc. Don't let it bother you is my advice.

2.) 19 Feb 2017 09:11:59
Honest truth City would sell him to any other club first before United, 0% chance of happening, you just don't sell quality players to your rivals.

3.) 19 Feb 2017 11:16:38
I'd - gladly - eat my hate if that happened but just can't see City selling to us. Why would they?

If we were to pinch a star from a rival I'd guess Sanchez to be the most achievable. Just got a hunch about it.

4.) 19 Feb 2017 20:21:58
I think Alexis is achievable but gut feeling they going to buy him to replace Dybala who going to go to Madrid in the summer

Our superstar signing will be Griezmann or no-one, think it be more about addressing certain positions ie LB, RB and buying some depth.

Thoughts on a possible £81m deal for Inaki William's?

From the Sun so probably BS but I like his pace and potential to grow.

T13

Fake news.

05 Aug 2019 15:10:01
Welcome Harry Maguire!

In my opinion the fee is a little much but when all said and done it's not coming out of my wallet.

He will sure our defense up and will provide a big aerial presence at corners and attacking free kicks.

All in all a good but of business I'd say!

Thoughts?

T13

1.) 05 Aug 2019 15:34:42
Im not a fan of Maguire but i think he will bring leadership to our defense and with Wan bissaka as right back i think we have sorted our defense out, now we need to work on our midfield, Mata, Matic are done and dusted, Pereira, Fred are just not good enough, the only positive i see is Mctomminay stepping up, he is really growing there oh and all the kids like Greenwood and Gomes but we need more midfielders, very energetic midfielders if we are going to play the pressing game ole wants to play.

2.) 05 Aug 2019 15:36:49
Agree with what you've said there T13. I think one of the benefits overlooked with Harry is his ability to bring the ball out of defence (and not just go square to fullbacks) thus setting up attacks. I think a lot of teams will sit off us and invite us on, this could be valuable.

3.) 05 Aug 2019 16:04:28
Harry Maguire is a great signing he is exactly what we need the price is irrelevant . He's a leader something we are badly missing the defence is starting to look very solid would like another left back to cover Shaw but all in all happy with the defence.
If we can get one CM I would say its been a good window.

4.) 05 Aug 2019 16:24:37
Price never matters to me, I'm not paying his transfer fee . bottom line harry gets a game for all the top 6 sides and that's good enough for me.

5.) 05 Aug 2019 16:29:49
I think he will be a good signing, he has his weaknesses, but most of them can be worked on and improved. He offers an aerial presence, comfortable on the ball and able to bring the ball out from the back. All things we need to improve on in defence.

My one real gripe is this idea that he is a leader. I think people mix up rugged defender and leadership skills.

Harry Maguire hasn't so far in his career shown any leadership qualities. He doesn't organise the defence or talk his partner through a match, in fact more often than not he is the one being organised and talked through the game. He doesn't gee up his teammates, he isn't a leading voice in the changing room, and he doesn't have that presence when he talks that demands people listen. He seems like a nice likeable lad, someone who wouldn't ruffle your feathers.

I would be fascinated to hear why people think he is a leader.

6.) 05 Aug 2019 17:32:25
shappy have you been in the changing rooms in games?

and unless your watching player cam on a the player or attending Leicester games and just watching him you can't make a statement saying he doesn't show leadership no one on here knows that.

but its not coincidence that many pundits, ex pros current players he was playing with have all said he is a future captain and he has shown leadership quality's

would be great to get a Leicester city fan on here for there opinion on maguire

we will soon see when he starts but pep wanted him to replace kompany who was a great leader so the scouts that have watched him must have seen something in him.

23 Jul 2019 09:54:39
Hi all,

Just curious on what everyone's defensive lineup would be should Maguire sign and the rest stay the same.

Personally would love to see,
De Gea
AWB, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw

With regular apps from,
Bailly and Dallot

Thoughts?

T13

1.) 23 Jul 2019 10:41:47
I think bailly could force his way back into a starting role if he stays injury free.

Baiily has the recovery pace that both lindelof and maguire lack and his ball playing abilities aren't as bad as people say they are.

Also if shaw keeps performing as he did towards to the end of last season when he made horrendous mistakes against wolves and huddersfield, he will be dropped with dalot or the supremely popular ashley young taking his place.

2.) 23 Jul 2019 11:02:34
It's the first time in 5 years wherein Shaw played more than 35 games in a single season. So he was bound to run out of juice towards the end of last season.
I expect him to have an even better year this time with him being more threatening in attack.

AWB, imo will be a revelation.

Lindelof is progressing steadily after his dodgy first season.

Maguire will hopefully add the physicality and settle down the back 4.
All 4 are good on the ball so we can confidently play out from the back.
The fullbacks have pace and can provide good width in attack.

De Gea signing a new deal is massive.

Overall, the back 5 look solid with Tuanzebe, Bailly and Dalot providing adequate backup.

3.) 23 Jul 2019 11:32:10
IF we land Maguire.

4.) 23 Jul 2019 11:50:24
Some long medical this that Maguire is having.

5.) 23 Jul 2019 15:01:49
Maybe he’s walking from Leicester to Manchester.

Welcome to Manchester United, Romelu.

Hope he will be a future United great!
He has the potential and many years ahead of him! Injuries permitting, he should go on to become Balon d'or shortlister.

Couldn't be happier to have Man Utd sign my first choice centre forward!

UNITED!

I'll be delighted once this deal is finalised and I see him holding the shirt.

He has everything you need as a successful striker in the premier league. He's got pace, power, a good head on his shoulders and most importantly he scores plenty of goals. Will be interesting to see how many he can score with a much better team around him!

Let's just wait till he's pictured next to Jose holding that sweet red shirt!

We have to remember what Jose did with Mkhitarayan before jumping to too many conclusions about Shaw not being included. I think that he's just giving him some time to get fully fit and keep him out of the team so he doesn't get any unfair criticism.
