Sorry TK-Red but you are not right.

The team has been in general decline for years which is something that all Utd fans agree with. I also agree that last sason we won the league by being the best out of a bad bunch which is part of the reason that we have been found to be short this season.

However to say that Utd were one dimensional and boring last season is simply not the full truth. There were a number of games last season where we fell behind and then found a way to come back and win i.e. the formation was altered to try and change the game etc. Don't think the 3-2 win at City was boring football either! The quality might not of been up to previous teams but the desire and application to tactics was Ok.

Utd were also the top scorers last season scoring 20 goals more than City and 11 more than chelsea. We also let in more goals than both City and Chelsea. That's not a team playing pure boring 1-0 football!

As a Utd fan I support the team at all times (blind faith) and accept sometimes that we don't play the best football in the world.
However apart from Barcelona and perhaps Bayern Munich no one plays dream football all the time and is successful.

You have to get off your seat for the passion of the game and not just because we played unbelievable football and cut a team to shreds.
In some respects I witnessed more excitment and passion watching Utd in the 70's and 80's when the quality of the football was poorer but the hunger from the supporters was relentless!

Now some people just don't get excited unless we play dream football.
---------------------------------------------------

The question wasn't about what excites me us, it was about teams who have won the league playing boring football and your post has jumped the issue somewhat. Anyone can pick out the odd game that we played well or the numerous occasions they were off their seat for one reason or another but in terms of the brand of football we were playing, it can very much be classed as boring. Using last season as an example is also pointless as I think we all can agree that it was a freak season. Don't confuse getting excited about a game with us playing an entertaining brand of football as it simply isn't true. Then again, as you say, it takes all sorts.

I agree we haven't been great to watch for a few year now

2.) We've slowly but surely been getting worse, in that sense, since we won the CL. That summer we signed Berbatov which meant that the pace of our game slowed, the we sold Ronaldo and replaced him with Valencia who isn't anywhere near as mobile or versatile, we also got rid of Tevez. Lots of little things that added up.

Since when has goals scored been the criteria for judging a top RB?

With Guarin going to Juve, I wonder if they might now be more receptive to a bid for Vidal. I can grasp at straws ;)

TK-Red

1.) Could we throw in Nani as a sweetener? Juve seem very interested in him.

2.) I would. People say we are short on numbers so should be looking for replacements if we let players go but I would quite happily allow Anderson and Nani to leave if it meant bringing in just 1 player of the quality of Vidal.

3.) We can hope but I heard that the deal is off.

4.) Deal is on, supposedly to be wrapped up tomm morning.

Reports saying it will open a move for Marchisio to United. Ed says we are only interested in Vidal.

Vidal and Coentrao would be some January window but will not get my hopes high. Throw in Gundogan and draxler/rues and a top quality CB in the summer and we will look a very different and quite scary.

{Ed004's Note - I agree I can't see why Moyes doesn't atleast move for Garay (who is available apparently), Coentrao and maybe Vidal if that's possible. That means we could bed 2-3 in at once instead of massive changes in the summer, Anderson gone, Nani involved in swap and give Buttner a loan and space is freed up}

5.) Straight swap with young? Haha.

Well that's good news. I neither want to hold my breath OR sign Gaitan.

RedDub, Blind isn't actually a left back. He generally plays as a defensive midfielder for Ajax but he is versatile and can play several positions, one of which being LB. Personally I would rather pay the money and get a specialised LB.

Call me naive but I would like to think that Shaw sees all the effort we have put in and that makes him feel wanted. We've seen players talk about similar things after signing for clubs before. No doubt Chelsea have made it know that they want him but we seem to have put in the leg work which, I hope, would make the difference.

It wouldn't be a bad thing so long as he isn't first choice. Still an important character for the dressing room.

Personally I would rather someone disagree with me/call me clueless while having a good old debate than some of the patting on the back that goes on. This is no dig at you Sheff but what do the endless "great post", "post of the day" replies bring to proceedings? If someone truly believes that their opinion is valid then they won't allow being called clueless etc to stop them on their tracks. This is a forum of opinions at the end of the day and I'd stop reading if we all agreed.

What a load of rubbish. How on earth is that hanging out to dry? The lad has turned up for pre season and LvG has decided he isn't fit enough. It happens to plenty of players every season so of course he is going to put on a specific fitness regime. Luke Shaw may be a 'kid' as you put it but he has also just been handed a very lucrative contract at one of the worlds biggest clubs. So he'll have to be professional and just get on with it.

Shillong Red. The point being that all of these 'media reports' stem from one media outlet that misquoted Vidal. It's not that hard to fathom.

With how LVG seemingly wants to play, I would personally prefer someone much more mobile than Martinez.

That's not actually what he said. He was ambushed at the airport by a journo and whatever he said has been quoted, misquoted, taken out of context. He certainly said nothing definitive.
