Hope you boys watched The George Best documentary tonight, All by Himself.

For me the greatest ever, at least for that short period of time.
A true superstar, flawed genius. Still gutted he's gone.

Absolute Genius. Ronaldo and Messi wouldn’t of lasted 5 mins back in the 60’s. Could you imagine how good he would of been with no drinking, better footballs better piches and 10 times fitter. By far my favourite player to watch. Just wish I could of seen him live. Simply the BEST.

2.) 01 Apr 2020 23:05:34
He was rubbish in the first half of his debut. But in the second half we got a glimpse of what was to come! What did Sir Matt say to him at half time?

3.) 02 Apr 2020 17:13:55
I disagree BR. Messi and Ronaldo would still have had made impacts on the game.

4.) 02 Apr 2020 18:03:08
Funny how people only ever want to mention his greatness and ignore the fact that he wasted so much of his talent and career.
He is literally one of the worst examples to show a kid growing up all the skill but where was the will.
Modern greats like Ronaldo and Messi on a different level I'm not doubting the talent but the application.

With respect mnk397. When Best was playing he was practically the first superstar footballer. A young lad from the back streets of Belfast, overnight thrown into the limelight, the 5th Beatle they called him. There is no doubting that he could and should have helped himself but the club should have had a better duty of care, but then again they probably hadn't experienced anything like it before either. Best didn't have an Alex Ferguson breaking up parties like with Giggs and giving him a bollocking. You only have to look at some of the footage of the amount of press and hangers on that followed him everywhere. It must have been like living in a gold fish bowl. Anyway, for me still the most talented player ever, despite him flaws. It wasnt his fault he was such a handsome devil 😉.

Unbelievable! What a result, very well done. Never a pen tho, not in a million years for me, lol.

Irish, he may have had his back towards the ball, but as it was struck he saw what was happening and put his arm out. I agree it was not a penalty, but he gave the ref a reason to look. Great for us, remember NANI been sent off when he should not have been, so its just the rough with the smooth.

2.) 06 Mar 2019 22:43:04
Who cares? It was given and we have pulled off the miracle! Ole ole ole 🇳🇴.

Hi United fans.

Would you be up for a European League at the expense of no Premier League foot ball?

So it's one or the other. Play Juventus, Madrid etc every week but lose the local English games as such.

Would love to hear what fans from other clubs think to see if there is a General consensus one way or the other. Cheers.

The Irish Rover

1.) 11 Feb 2018 13:21:24
I'd prefer to keep the EPL as it is, but the reality is that a breakaway league will happen sooner or later. There's too much money to be made from a euro super league, and trying to stop it, over the long term, is like trying to hold back the tide with a fishing net.

2.) 11 Feb 2018 13:34:02
I would rather not but I think it's coming.

3.) 11 Feb 2018 13:49:33
Prefer to leave the league as it is. And uefa should find some balls and stamp ut out before it happens.

{Ed002's Note - How would UEFA do that?}

4.) 11 Feb 2018 13:51:30
Hey Rover. My answer would be no for a number of reasons.

I like the structure of our League, I love relegation and promotion and that every team has a chance to get to the top division. Look at Huddersfield, Bournemouth, and previously Wigan. They may not be glamorous names but so what? I can’t imagine England not having a League of its top clubs.

The game nowadays is all about making the rich clubs richer, that’s where the Champions’ League format came from; more teams in and a League approach meaning the top teams are more likely to stay in longer. They even keep clubs from the same league apart for as long as they can, it is simply a money making exercise.

I suspect the English League would continue without the top teams if they chose to break away and form a European League but where’s the sense in that? It would become a complete mess, it hasn’t been thought through, it’s yet another “let’s make more money” idea.

Money is the God and greed is there for all to see. The Champions League is now horribly predictable with only a handful of clubs having a chance of winning it. I’m not sure. European League would fare much differently.

5.) 11 Feb 2018 14:08:12
I'd personally like to see it but I'm not sure how it would work.

01 Sep 2015 18:22:37
So circa £260 million spent since Loius took over. Has he got a league winning squad?

The Irish Rover

{Ed004's Note - is that net or total spend?}

1.) 01 Sep 2015 18:49:33
Don't talk about spend talk about net spend lol.

2.) 01 Sep 2015 18:52:57
Moyes was bashed for ruining peoples confidence and moral when he said we needed 6 or 7 players inheriting a team with 2 cd on their last legs. This guy has bought a team and half and counting, sold pretty much everyone and falling out with a player on a weekly basis and we still shall wait.

I seriously can not believe for one minute with that kind of spend any decent manager would have us any worse than what we are currently showing. But hail to Cesar we shall all wait LOL.

Oops sorry the positive crew and Moyes haters will all be out in force now :)

3.) 01 Sep 2015 19:27:04
Net or not No he hasnt.

The GK position is unknown.
The CB position is down the pan.
Midfield is quality now.
The forwards needed adding to, not just a young expensive kid type adding to either.

4.) 01 Sep 2015 18:44:57
Total spend ed004.

5.) 01 Sep 2015 18:53:28
ed004
what has net spend got to do with lvg that's for the accountants.
lvg has been given 250 mil to spend has brought 13 players to the club in 12 month.
he has got rid of the players he didn't want .
he has been fully backed by the club .

{Ed004's Note - I'm sorry Jred net spend obviously isn't relevant at all. We simply let 20+ players leave. Not quite sure how people can't see we are in a better shape squad wise so even if LvG leaves we will be in a better position for the next manager}

Sydney
What are your predictions for the season. Utd ahead of Liverpool? Citeh champions? I promise not to hold it against you. ;-)

The Irish Rover

{Ed007's Note - RTFP.}

1.) Will definitely finish ahead of the scouters and city will win it again. Mangala was the missing piece and expect them to make a serious run in Europe as well.

Chelsea will be in it but will not win it, contrary to popular opinion:)

Arsenal will also be in there and I reckon 3 points will separate the top 3.

2.) You say you will definitely finish above the scousers, i'm not so sure.

Everton will finish above you again this year.

3.) Leicester red

You are a good laugh. I wish we could have live betting on this site for guys like you and me. I will wager on it :)

4.) We need to wait until the window is closed Irish. A lot depends on new signings for us. However we will be much stronger next season due to no more Moyes. You will be weaker due to no more Suarez, so it will be closer regardless of who we sign. But I need to see who we sign to make a fair judgement on where I believe we will finish.

5.) GCU

How much would you have lost last year if there was though?!

All jokes aside, I think youll finish abov Everton.

But youve lost 4 players from last seasons squad and youve signed a LB whose injured and a decent CM.

So your squad is weaker than last season but with a better manager, but imo that won't be enough to plug the gap back to top 4.

Agree Caolan. I wasnt overjoyed when he was made NI manager, but after a few rough years he completely transformed the team with the scraps we have to pick from. He won my respect and I was gutted to see him leave.
He kept Stoke up which was his first mission, this season is a big one for him. I'm hoping he succeeds. Would love to see him in the PL.
