My thinking is that if we are to anounce a signing tomorrow it'll be Geoffrey Kondogbia, and he'll play 1/2 the game for each team? Just a thought but what would you all think if that was the case?

Thomas

1.) Half of wot game, we don't play till Friday, rio's testimonial?

2.) I'd rather have him than Fellaini tbh. Not that i'm against Fellaini but Kondogbia is a lot easier to watch and has a higher ceiling.

Dan

3.) Exactly the type of player we need. If united just signed this one player type i'd be happy going into the season. We haven't been able to win possession for 2 years now!
Obviously would hope for more signings, but we do still have a good team elsewhere. Pace and power in midfield is our one true weakness.

Big congrats to Anders Lindegaard; he got married today! :)

Thomas

{Ed007's Note - Poor sod.}

1.) Haha classic that Bond, his life is over!

2.) He will be having a good night though :)

Question for all, if all goes well tomorrow on the Mata front, and he signs the dotted line, which number do you see him taking, 7 or the recently vacant number 8?

Thomas

1.) Isn't the number 8 assigned to anderson for the season?
i would give him the number 7, and the 8 to vidal in the summer (although jan would be better)
if can dream further, then the 11 to reus or the 9 to diego costa/ cavani and the 10 going to kagawa or rvp

2.) I'm not trying to shoot you down but does it matter/does anyone really care? Pun deliberately avoided

3.) Given the long standing tradition of us having a world class number seven - not having one irks me a little. I suppose, you could say, I care.

As irrelevant as it is - I'd like to see Mata take another shirt for now. There will already be a massive weight on his shoulders given how badly we are doing and how much he is set to cost. Why add to that by giving him the number 7 shirt?

I expect he'll get it in the summer or take the number ten shirt if Rooney departs.

Great interview from Becks on FF. Still an absolute legend for me.

Hi Ed's. Long time reader, occasional poster on this site.
I was wondering if you could put up a poll asking. "Do you think SAF's book has damaged the clubs reputation in the PL and across Europe with SAF still being at the club?" I'll leave the wording of the question to yourselves.

Thanks, Thomas.

PS. Keep up the great work. {Ed002's Note - It makes no difference to the reputation of the club anywhere.}

Thomas

1.) Chees Ed

Thomas

2.) I wouldn't say the club has been damaged but I don't like the way Ferguson has slagged off ex players, it's made him look a bit of a ---- in my eyes.

3.) Agreed Carloto, slagging Gerrard, Liverpool and the ex players is so pathetic. We all hate Liverpool fc but it doesn't mean we should insult or belittle them.
Very disappointing of Ferguson, but it seems he's gone out of his way to make controversial remarks to sell books and make money. Gone down in my estimation, not that he'll give a toss!

4.) Perhaps the inability to recognise a world class midfield player in SAFs later years is highlighted by this Gerrard blind spot. SAF didn't seem able to spot anyone better than our generally poor midfield players so why is anyone surprised at his comments on Gerrard. Gerrard in our midfield in the last 5 years would have brought more trophies.

5.) 27 Oct 2013 16:35:13
Cheers guys.

I was just a bit worried that with SAF still in the backroom, players might not want to come Just because a lot of players are speaking out about it, and now i'm reading that even zidane has put in his two bobs worth.

And I still am abit worried.

Thomas. {Ed002's Note - There is nothing to worry about. Most players are dumber than a box of rocks and few can read at all. If they are aware of it they will soon be distracted by something else - perhaps a squirrel in the garden.}

6.) Since when did we all start feeling sorry for Liverpool?

The smell of hypocrisy on this site stinks.

StevieK

7.) Haha ed, you've been on fine form recently! Keep up the good work!

8.) 27 Oct 2013 17:18:28
I think he was right. Lampards been a good player but not in the same bracket as zidane or Scholes. As for Gerrard totally agree people think because he scores the odd twenty yarder he's world class however he has no tactical discipline because of his constant need to be the hero by playing Roy of the rovers.

9.) Actually if you saw the sunday supplement the writer of the book said everything was taken out of context what was said Gerrard has never been as good as maradona pele messi etc.
He said you need to read all the passage not just sentences

Boooom! Classic Ed02!

Long time reader, but don't post that much, just the odd reply here and there, but this is just my two cents worth on Rooney, but I don't think he will be leaving.

My reasons is, I don't think the club would damage their new managers position with the fans. I know money talks and all that but unless Rooney hands in a transfer request (where he'll lose his cut of the deal). But I believe the club will stand by the manager on this one and not weaken. Every time D. Moyes has spoke he stated that Rooney's not for sale, I'm going to take his word for it (even thou I would sell at this point).

And I'd like to give a big shout out to all the Eds for all their hard work in the back groung and odd bit of info, your contribution is valued very highly. And to all the regular posters and no names, your input is most enjoyable, keep it up but maybe take some of the venom and doom out of some of the post.

Now let's all enjoy the game against Singha All-Stars today, and we'll get to assess how DM has us playing.

In the soul of Manchester United FC I trust. ;)
Have a great day all.

Yea but when DM changed the back room staff, we slated him for it?! Giggs should have some sort of role

I think the key word there is "yet" Mick B. Do you pay 10m now when he's not worth that, or wait a season and maybe have to pay more. It's about taking a risk, we all know how good he can become, and he seems to have sorted out his problems, so clubs will take that into consideration.

I can't see him returning to OT myself thou.

Ed007. How do I use the search function? It doen't seem to be at the top of the page anymore.

Thanks in advance. {Ed007's Note - Sorry Thomas, there is an improved search engine been developed, it just hasn't been implemented on all the sites yet. It will be a.s.a.p.}

Swordfishtrumbone is an album by a guy brought up on bourbon and cigarettes, the wonderful Tom Waits.

The Beast; Rio would have been out of contract before the tour started. They surely would have had to extent his contract by a year, just so LvG could have a look at him. Knees, back, can't run anymore and is 35, that's all you need to look at.

Ash all you're posts are full of hate towards the player, manager, the board and the club. If you really hate United that much don't support them. Remember as fans we pay to watch a game of football, not to see your team win! If winning is all you care about then you're watching the wrong sport.

Maybe we've met the valuation, maybe it's Shaw that needs convinced? Maybe Shaw, like Robben, see's OT as "not a option"? Just sayin'!

Tactically brilliant, yet when Big Sam does it, he was accussed of bringing football back to the dark days by "Jose"? Jose is just big sam with better players, haha.
In truth there is no proper way to play football as the Spainish would have you believe, they didn't make the rules, football use to be played with 2 defenders and everyone else attack, italy was famed for it's defence, at the end of the day it is about results, a win is a win a loss is a loss. Managers just need to man up and say that where beat by the better manager, or team, and end all this park the bus and anti football football stuff, and us fans should stop buying into it, and call it as it is, we get beat or we draw or we win, i'm still going to be watching regardless of the result.
