Anyone seen lahms comments on muller? Very interesting! Saying Muller to United is possible.

Not shooting you down trev but l "could" go to the moon too 😂

Tbf l don't know what to think right now. Need my meds!

2.) 21 Jul 2015 15:50:09
But surely lahm would come out and say muller was staying. He wouldn't doubt it.

3.) 21 Jul 2015 16:56:51
"It's not my decision, Things can happen very quickly,I certainly can't provide any guarantee for Thomas Muller staying". Why would he come out and say muller is staying? he's not in charge he has no say on who stays and goes that's why he's not guaranteeing it cause he has no clue!

4.) 21 Jul 2015 18:30:23
I can see why lahm's comments could be getting a few people excited as muller is world class. But Lahm knows as much as anyone else in regards to transfers.
I can't help but feel it's going to be a monster of a transfer whoever it is coming in. Still keep dreaming of ronaldo returning to OT! That would be a great sight.

5.) 22 Jul 2015 13:48:08
Probably just to goad Bayern into giving Mueller a new contract?

I hope tonight proved that janazuj does not fit the number 10 role. With the same team as recent weeks and Herrera in the whole, we will see a much faster game and retention and creativity of the ball in the final third improved.

But don't get me wrong janazuj is pure quality but just does not suit that position

Trev the Red2

1.) 27 Aug 2015 08:06:20
I think we now have to have doubts that Januzaj is pure quality. He seems to have taken a step back and some players do that. The glaring public focus of being a Manchester United player can be too much for some but maybe the next level isn't there mentally. For me as good as Giggs was he didn't take the next step to all time great as Ronaldo was able to do so perhaps in Adnans case he can't take it further. I think a season loan at a premier league club will do him good and at the end we may have to make a decision on him.

Herrera has to play for me and I would chose to play him instead of Mata.

2.) 27 Aug 2015 08:12:22
He is not pure quality. he has a long way to go.

3.) 27 Aug 2015 09:33:53
Red Man,

Herrera and Mata seem to have a telepathic understanding, both play better when the other is on the pitch don't you think?

Just wrote a bit about Januzaj above, he is 20 years old for God sake, I think it is a bit unfair to compare him to Ronaldo and also an interesting one to me to say Giggs never stepped up to being an all time great, if he played for another club and won what he won at United would you think he wasn't an all time great, strange view in my opinion.

I know I said unfair to compare but let's look at the stats at the same age:

Januzaj 47 games 5 goals
Ronaldo 62 games 9 goals
Giggs 81 games 14 goals

And these are 2 of the best players ever to play for United, it is easy to forget that most players don't do a lot until they reach 22/23 and by that time hopefully we will have nurtured him correctly, he clearly has a massive talent, watch him at the under 21 level and you feel sorry for the defenders, he just needs to step up.

As the song goes 'He's a boy who can do anything'.

4.) 27 Aug 2015 11:38:45
Absolutely, Herrera for Januzaj. Simples, if need be have him come on as an impact sub, I feel he and we would benefit more from this too

5.) 27 Aug 2015 13:02:01
GDS2

The song may say that but the play doesn't show it at this time. I would not sell Adnan but I suggest a loan to get him playing regularly. If he stays with us there is a good chance he will get dropped due to the level of his play, we can't afford passengers, and that will be to his detriment.

Yes I think Giggs was one of our best players but I don't base quality solely on the number of medals won in a team. I personally saw both Ronaldo and Best and they were both better than Giggs. Giggs is not revered world wide as an all time great when he could and should have got himself up there with both Ronaldo's, Messi, Maradonna, Pele, Best, Cruyff, but he didnt. He just didn't take that step to full greatness, he had weaknesses, his crossing being one. No doubting his longevity and medal tally but he fell short of the very very top. We listen to the old great players say who they rated and wanted to play alongside, mostly it was Scholes not Giggs and that should tell you something.

On Herrera I thought he played well with Schweinsteiger and when he pushed forward in the second half. No doubt Mata and Herrera get on but if we are playing 433 in future Mata is the position I think should be under threat depending on if and who we buy and I would chose Herrera before Mata

Very professional performance tonight. Few shaky moments but other than that very encouraging. Glad Rooney hit a hat trick tonight that will give his morale the world of good.

Memphis is so dangerous cutting in on the right. When he gets it right he's amazing, but sometimes he can over dwell on the ball and pick the wrong option. But with experience I'm sure that will improve.

Both full backs again solid, very impressed with Shaw and darmian.

But my main mention goes to juan mata who I thought was class tonight.

Roll on Sunday!

1.) 27 Aug 2015 00:35:34
The full backs have been amazing in every match so far, Luke shaw is like a new signing and I am still waiting for Darmian to make a mistake or ever let a man run past him, looking forward to seeing how he deals with one of the trickiest left wingers in the league montero on Sunday.

I thought mata was good today as well, in fact he's always good, he just isn't a right winger.

Agree on Memphis, sometimes makes the incorrect decision but as long as that is in between moments of magic then we can allow them while he gains experience.

2.) 27 Aug 2015 11:47:26
Luke Shaw is an absolute Beast. I really think the sky is the limit for him. It won't be long until he starts getting the odd goal too in my opinion.

That would then make him the best all round LB in the league for me

22 Aug 2015 21:06:20
I'm starting to believe a number 9 need is more important than a winger. Mata works wonders out on the right drifting in. Memphis provides the width with the additional attacking options of Shaw and Darmian stretching the defence. But for some reason Rooney drops in and we are left with no one up top. Janazuj looks lost in the number 10 role. A prolific world class striker is the only way you will get the best out of Rooney. He worked well with RVN, RVP, Ronaldo, tevez and even Saha at times. So if we were to purchase maybe a Zlatan or lewnadowski we will look so much more dangerous.

Trev the Red2

1.) 22 Aug 2015 23:30:43
As stated by many others Mata narrows the pitch and we only have the left wing to attack. So many times we went down the left then came back looking to switch to the right where there should have been space but Mata was stood central which pretty much cuts off half the otch making it easier to defend. mata needs to be central as a No 10 with A new striker. Rooney on the bench

21 Aug 2015 09:30:00
I feel one of the main problems for our break down of attacking play, or pace to get from back to front is the number 10 role, how it's being played and who is playing there.

bayern Munich: Gotze;Muller;Costa
Barcelona: Iniesta;Messi
Real Madrid: Isco;Rodriguez; Bale
Chelsea: Oscar; Fabregas
Manchester City: Sterling;Silva; Nasri
Arsenal: Ozil; cazorla

This is just a few to teams to name. The number 10 role is becoming a fashionable position in football. BAYERN are a very entertaining team to watch, they create many chances over the season and always have a high possession of the ball. Having number 10s like Gotze and Muller allows someone always showing for the ball in the middle of the attacking third and also a massive goal threat on top of their wingers and striker. BARCELONA again great retention of the ball and create many chances. Iniesta, eyes in the back of his head, always an option in the centre and can string a ball through the attackers. Messi, who plays 10 sometimes, drops slightly deeper and runs at defence to create space for 1 2s. REAL MADRID always show incredible counter attack ability, James always shows for the ball and looks to move it forward as quick as possible, bale does the same by attacking defences causing all kinds of trouble. Now, we have CHELSEA who can be very boring sometimes. The reason for this is because Oscar hasn't progressed into the player expected, most of the time leaving them with no number 10. They had no creativity against Man City, no pace in the centre. This is because they were lacking a number 10 who can make something happen. MANCHESTER CITY and ARSENAL again have top number 10s, great variety. Ozil can be lazy and sluggish but when on form
his passing is unplayable and can be very prolific on assists because he's always looking for the ball in there. silva, best number 10 around, quality! Makes everything effortless.

Now your probably thinking where is my point going? All these number 10s from the selected teams play in their position. We lack creativity in the central attacking area, we lack goals in that area. The reason why? We don't play our number 10s there. Madness. JUAN MATA, He is our number 10, proved his class at Chelsea there. Scores goals and his passing is exceptional. Always looking to show for the ball in tight space, very positive player and if played there will certainly speed up our play and increase our possession in the final third for sure. We also have WAYNE ROONEY, who scores goals and is at its best when facing the goal. So we have two world class number 10s and yet none of them are played there, that's why our football can be boring at times. No creativity in the centre.

1.) 21 Aug 2015 11:28:46
Agree with everything except that Rooney is a world class number 10. His touch and short range passing let's him down. I think world class gets thrown around too much and I'd even say Mata isn't world class either, a great number 10 though and proven that he can do it. We have Pereira and Januzaj who could have the potential to turn in to great number 10s too.

2.) 21 Aug 2015 12:08:35
Have yo disagree as barca don't play with a number 10 position they play busquets as pivot and iniesta and rackatic ahead the exact formation we played last year with our good run of results we had carrick pivot and herrra and fellini ahead . bayern also play 4-1-4-1 again no number 10 as gotze warms the bench and plays from the left. Silva yes plays number 10 role to perfection in 4-2-3-1 so i ask what formation do we play ta put mata in there the same as city with januzai and memphis on the sides with sweinstiger and morgan sitting ? I personally prefer how we played last year as 4-3-3 but my mid this year would be morgan pivot sweinstiger and hererra ahead and then memphis rooney and januzai front 3 .control game more and have more counter attack pace in tat formation.i like mata but i prefer 4-3-3 so he has miss out for me .sorry mata

3.) 21 Aug 2015 16:45:35
Iniest and Messi are both number 10s. Meaning you will find them floating around in there. Not sure what your talking about but rackitic and iniesta do not mirror each other. Iniesta is more advanced.

Fair play to the young lad sterling. Keeping is head down and playing his game. Sent Ivanonvic for a hot dog many times today with his pace. Hope Memphis can make the same type of effect for us.

If we close the window without adding to our Defence we will not win the league, it's that simple.
We have a lot of boxes in this window but failed to resolve key issues like a CB and a striker.
All other signings have been good but with the De Gea situation and lack of a striker it looks as though it's two steps forward two back.
I would like to know if we were ever in for Otamendi or just got distracted again by a big name signing in Ramos, who used us as others have. Otamendi will do well I am sure.
I hope we are in for Laporte but I think he will go to Barca in time.
