Hi Ed002 - thanks for all the info you give us, much appreciated.

If you get chance, would you please be able to give us a brief update with where MUFC are at with their various ins/ out?

I know there is a lot of talk about Perisic, Matic, Fabinho etc but it'd be useful to know who are the players that MUFC are genuinely trying to get a deal done for as opposed to those in which they hold some kind of interest.

If you're able to, I'm sure we'd also appreciate some info on possible player exits this summer please.

Thanks in advance,

YoungKenny.

That would be great ed. I was wondering does sparky travel with you on your trips abroad or do you leave him to fend for himself on the streets. He doesn't sound like the kennel club type.

{Ed002's Note - Sparky does what he wants. Woof. #WonderDogSparky - who has done a major update this evening.}

2.) 14 Jul 2017 22:37:58
ed002 is sparky named after Mark Hughes.

Thanks Ed. If you get a spare moment over the weekend that'd be great. If not, no worries.

Yeah sounds like the type that knows the streets. 😂 when your skiing that update ed don't forget to mention that we didn't get bakayoko😁.

Eds, is all this Messi 'drama' just his camp trying to get a better deal or is there something more to it? I'm not suggesting we would be able to afford him but I just wanted to know if there was more to this little spat?

Thanks,

YoungKenny

{Ed002's Note - It is just "stuff" - something to keep the message boards happy.}

1.) It would be a tad silly for Messi to admonish the board for accusing him of demanding a pay rise, and then using that accusation as a reaspn to get a payrise. it doesn't make sense. he'llcontinue at Barca till his career ends.

Hi Ed002, if you get a few minutes, can you explain a little about De Gea's new contract and what it might mean for his future? I know contracts are complex but if you could dumb it down for me I'd be very grateful. No worries if not. Thanks

YoungKenny

{Ed002's Note - It is no different than the contract of any other player - there is no protection from another club looking to buy him, in the same way that all clubs buy players. Manchester United will have paid a considerable amount of money to him in order to have him sign a new deal. So going forward the win situation for the club is that he won't leave as a free agent next summer, and they have use of him. The win situation for the player is the money. The win situation for Mendes is that he could potentially be used by Manchester United in some capacity moving forward - as the relationship between him and Madrid is not great right now.}

I'm not sure I'd believe those reports. Didn't Ed002 say PSG were crippled this summer due to FFP? Plus, would it really be a big step for him? I don't think so.

YoungKenny

{Ed002's Note - They are looking to move on Verratti, Cavani, Lavezzi and others to raise cash."

I'm not sure what Chelsea offered in the summer for Shaw (if they did?) but last January they offered Southampton £4 million. Surely that was a tester bid and they never expected to get him for that! Would love to see him at OT but would be wary of spending £25 mil plus Buttner on a young player.

YoungKenny

{Ed002's Note - The figure Southampton gave Chelsea recently was well beyond £25M and whatever change Buttner is worth.}

Who's discussing anything about a country's general population?!

The OP states their observation that stadia in other countries don't look full, at least not in the games on TV. Therefore, the statistic that relates to their original query isn't simply how many people attend a match, but the average attendance as a percentage of the ground's capacity, or more simply put, how full a stadium is, with 100% being a sellout, 50% meaning the ground was half full etc. In regard to this stat, the Bundesliga is slightly behind the PL in terms of its ability to fill grounds.

And as for your comment on Scottish football, you may be right, but the Faroe Islands has the highest total spectator average as a percentage of their population (10% of their country attend professional football matches, vs Scotland's 3.8% and England's 2.4%) .

YoungKenny

{Ed007's Note - Statistics Norway reports that the amount of waste generated by Norway's leather industry remained virtually the same at around 3,000 tonnes a year in the period from 2007 to 20013.}

The OP stated that only Germany compares to England with regards to how full the stadia appear on TV, and you disagreed with his phrasing. As I stated and proved above, the OP was correct in his assertion as the BPL has a higher average attendance expressed as a percentage of capacity (96% vs 91% approx. ) . Had he have said, 'more people go to Bundesliga matches', you would've been correct, but he didn't.

YoungKenny

{Ed007's Note - But the average attendance figure is lower, you're trying to twist thing to suit yourself and now you look foolish. Where does the OP mention anything about percentages, we're talking about the number of people who go to matches.
BTW a higher percentage of the Scottish population attend football matches than in England.}

A bit late to the party, but hey. Ed007, I think it depends what stats you use when saying one league has better attendances than another. Bundesliga, for example, has higher average attendances, but Premier League teams fill their stadia more. Off the top of my head, last season PL teams filled around 96% of available seats, whereas Bundesliga teams only filled around 91%.

YoungKenny

{Ed007's Note - No it doesn't depend what stats you use, you use the number of people that go to games. The clue's in the name... ATTENDANCE - The number of people present at a particular place or event.}

Jackutd, you can't seriously say that Romero is worthy of being (stand-in) Number 1 for United, can you?

Fair enough he got a few clean sheets but he had 5 saves to make during those 3 games and 4 of those were against Spurs! So it wasn't like he'd been tested.

I think everybody could see that error for Swansea's 2nd goal coming, too. De Gea (and other GKs) wouldn't have let either of those goals in that day.
