Hello Ed
Lot of rumors about Manchester United being interested in signing Vidal this summer. Is there any substance to the rumors or are they just making up stories? I don't remember Ed002 mentioning Vidal that in his most recent summary.

detroit red devil

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what the stories are, but Mr Mourinho was very keen on Vidal when he was coach at Chelsea. I am aware of intererst in him from elsewhere but he is coming up to 31 and the smart money would be for Manchester United to sign someone younger. I am not aware of any approach by MU.}

1.) 28 Mar 2018 21:42:21
If we sign Vidal Mourinho is not planning on sticking around too much longer I would suggest. Hopefully, as ED suggested, we sign someone younger.

2.) 28 Mar 2018 21:59:12
too old now,3 years ago he would have been a good choice.

3.) 28 Mar 2018 22:14:11
Vidal would be a great signing and would provide some experience and leadership that younger players wouldn't. If we were to sign him a long with say jorginho I'd be ecstatic. Also if he gave us 2/ 3 good years it would allow us to bring youth such as Gomes, hamilton and puigmal into the squad with the knowledge that there is a spot for them when he leaves.

4.) 29 Mar 2018 08:23:08
Vidal should be good for us but he should not be the only CM we sign this season.

5.) 30 Mar 2018 19:45:13
We signed a slightly past it 31 year old midfielder from Bayern once before. Whatever happened to once bitten twice shy?

20 Apr 2017 14:07:18
Hello Ed
Lot of talks regarding Michael Keane leaving Burnley after this season. Are United interested in him?

detroit red devil

{Ed002's Note - Not the preferred choice but there is interest in Michael Keane from MU - home grown is a bonus but likely to be priced out of a move to most clubs.}

1.) 20 Apr 2017 15:46:12
Thanks for info Ed002 - hope you and Sparky are refreshed after your Easter break!

{Ed002's Note - We are thanks.}

2.) 20 Apr 2017 15:47:26
Oops sorry Ed, just a quick Q: is Giminez still the preferred choice? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - He and Lindelof.)

3.) 20 Apr 2017 19:36:56
Thanks for swift reply Ed!

4.) 21 Apr 2017 09:04:49
On last nights evidence Spajic would be perfect alongside Bailly.

5.) 24 Apr 2017 08:19:48
We have a sell on clause in Michael Keane contract so that would give us some flexibility with price negotiations because 25 percent of what other clubs pay will come to us so we can offer less and it would be a better deal for Burnley if we disregard the sell on clause.

Cillessen starts for Ajax today. That should end all speculation that he is on his way to manchester united.

detroit red devil

1.) 04 Aug 2015 21:24:49
I read today that the rules have changed . Apparently playing for a club in the qualifiers doesn't disqualify you from playing for a new club in the group stages

2.) 04 Aug 2015 21:26:21
They're out. He's not cup tied.

3.) 04 Aug 2015 21:34:37
Detroit. Don't think we will sign any more keepers mate . ,Until De Gea makes up his mind . to stay or to go.
But I would be happy with Cillessen.

4.) 05 Aug 2015 09:50:27
I love a post that ends all speculation that actually creates more.

5.) 05 Aug 2015 13:35:06
GDS, brilliant!

08 Jul 2015 17:34:06
Eds, many media outlets are reporting that RVP is on the verge of joining Fenerbahce. Any substance in these rumours? Are united actively looking to sell him? Thank you

detroit red devil

{Ed007's Note - Yes.}

1.) 08 Jul 2015 18:50:42
They are quite shamelessly hawking around every club in Eurpope hoping that someone will buy him. He is gone

2.) 08 Jul 2015 19:12:11
Gets him off wage bill, we don't need a sulking rvp making a nuisance in the dressing room

3.) 08 Jul 2015 19:26:29
how are they shamelessly hawking him around, he has asked the club to find him a new club as he is not guaranteed first team football anymore,

it suits both parties if we sell him.

4.) 08 Jul 2015 19:57:00
spb He does not want to leave and would happily see out his contract. He has definitely not asked to leave. You are mistaken

5.) 08 Jul 2015 20:03:32
Is that an imposter above or the real KLOOT? Almost missed as much as Ed002 on this page. I will get my jesters hat on just for you kloot if it's you, seeing as you used to accuse mr of wearing one.

6.) 08 Jul 2015 20:29:29
Of course he would like to see out his contract, doesn't he get a £12 million loyalty payment then.
Just saying

7.) 08 Jul 2015 22:22:49
Shame if it's true about van persie. He was in fine form when Fergie was in charge , maybe van gaal,s style of play doesn't fit van persie . still a bit of a worry that we are letting decent squad players leave with out too many replacements comming in.
Like I said in an earlier post , fingers crossed there is plenty of wheeling and dealing going on behind closed doors .
And I don't mean ed china and mike brewer.
Cheers

8.) 08 Jul 2015 23:27:21
kloot from what i have heard he has spoken to lvg and was told he isn't guaranteed first team football on a regular basis anymore, and lvg was happy to keep him as backup, which something rvp wasn't 100 percent happy with.

9.) 09 Jul 2015 11:53:48
The two big issues for RVP seem to be playing regularly and his kids schooling. He is unlikely to be playing regularly at MU and IMO he comes across as a bit of a fair weather player so i would not be heartbroken to see him go. Surely if he does it will leave us light up front unless we have someone as good already in the bag.
Regarding Fenerbace, is this going to tick the box for his kids? Merely posing the questions.

06 Jul 2015 19:09:45
Can any of the Eds please give a status update on james wilson. There was a lot of news saying his contract expired at the end of June and there is no information on him signing a new contract. Is he still a united player and if so do the clubs have any specific plan for him going forward? Thank you.

detroit red devil

{Ed001's Note - the only thing I can think is that he must have had a deal that had an option for another year, he has certainly not been released. I honestly don't know for sure about that, I do know his reps have held contract talks and the club want to keep him and send him out on loan. Middlesbrough was the suggestion I heard for him to go on loan to.}

1.) 07 Jul 2015 07:16:34
Yeah we fancy the lad but will get first team football on loan which is good for him. Januzaj and possibly mcnair should go although I'd rather see them have game time for us. Depends on our options. Might I add would love to see 352 or 433 again.

2.) 07 Jul 2015 11:38:06
BUn,

You might fancy him but there are other sites for that kind of talk.

3.) 07 Jul 2015 12:01:33

Rumours that Manchester United are looking to sign Yerry Mina. I haven’t seen much of him but I don’t remember Ed002 mention him on the sharkopod. Woudl he be a good signing?

detroit red devil

1.) 30 Jul 2018 17:59:14
I don’t see him as a significant improvement over our current defenders. Struggled to impress at Barca, and not the manager’s first choice. Can’t see him making a big difference if signed.

2.) 30 Jul 2018 18:51:41
Although he's probably a better player than him, papi dilobodji springs to minds and well we all know that season ended lol.

3.) 30 Jul 2018 19:31:34
He was meant to be the next big thing. Barcelona fought off real madrid to get him. He had a good world cup its all I've seen of him.
He could be an inspired signing or just end up being another squad player. Very much like fred and dalot most of us don't know much about them.

4.) 30 Jul 2018 20:59:28
Looked solid st the world cup and is dominant in both boxes.

10 May 2017 05:14:43
Thanks for the great sharkopod ed002. On possible suggestion would be to also talk about players leaving the club this summer.

{Ed002's Note - Remind me next week DR.}

10 Aug 2016 15:31:20
I haven't posted in a long time, but this has got to be one of the most exciting summers for manchester united in a long long time. For once the ' saga of the summer' ended positively for us.
Regarding the players leaving, I see young, Bastian. rojo, mata, januzaj and jones being sold with united trying to buy one more cb.
I also believe memphis will be given a chance as back up winger to martial this year.

detroit red devil

1.) 10 Aug 2016 16:08:11
I don't think we are going to sell the players you think, Januzaj will probably go on loan if somebody will take him, Bastian is going as we know but the others are all part of the 26 man squad Jose was talking about and all have a part to play. Jose said they will have to get used to not playing for 3 weeks but then the League Cup and Europa League start and we will need 2 players in each position, then them players will be vital so that the 1st team are fit for the game on Sunday.

It is definitely the most exciting summer for ages, I just want it to be Sunday now, like a kid at Christmas!

2.) 10 Aug 2016 17:16:59
I think Rojo is available as well. Supposedly he rejected an offer from China.

3.) 10 Aug 2016 17:53:41
Really don't think much needs doing to the squad now it looks incredibly strong maybe a tiny bit lacking at cb but we're hardly struggling. This is the season for the almost men to step up and show they have what it takes to be a united player there are many socks to be pulled up or it will be an interesting January imo.

I'm over the moon with the window possibly the best business in Europe and I cannot wait for the season to start transfers are the furthest thing from my mind atm .

4.) 10 Aug 2016 18:38:41
Janusaj on loan and nothing else i would think. Hard to blend in too many new players into a squad. People underestimate the togetherness of a sad and too many new players will undermine that. We have added players where most needed for the first time in a long long time. I think we are good to go and one of the manchester teams will win the league.

5.) 10 Aug 2016 18:44:38
Memphis schweiny next to be sold Mata to if he wants first team football that's how i see it Jose loves to to rub ex managers he don't get on with noses in it the two Lvg men have no chance imo.

6.) 10 Aug 2016 19:10:37
Memphis is going nowhere .

7.) 10 Aug 2016 19:57:16
Red gate,

Since when did lvg and Jose not get on?

8.) 10 Aug 2016 19:57:35
Stop saying "we" or "us" please?! It's embarrassing.

9.) 10 Aug 2016 20:36:19
Jose has slated Lvg in public he has bombed Schweinsteiger out Lvgs man and unless Memphis is injured and can't be moved on i excpect him to be sold aswell just my opinion but watch Jose and how he wirks his sly little digs are hilarious and right on the money.

10.) 10 Aug 2016 20:56:58
We us we us we us we us just saying!

11.) 10 Aug 2016 21:41:59
United is my life, it's definitely 'we' and 'us'. What are you banging on about?

12.) 10 Aug 2016 21:42:57
Red gate,

He's not slated lvg in public at all, he dedicated the community shield win to him for god sake.

13.) 10 Aug 2016 22:52:06
Yes tongue in cheek its called and he has ripped his philosophy to pieces you do know what a mischief Jose is he has said no more backwards side way passing and it would be easier to start with a whole new squad because the philosophy was awful he has tore Lvg to bits its why schweiny is off and Memphis to cause there lvg men beleave it or not it is what it is.

14.) 11 Aug 2016 16:22:49
WE are back!

20 Sep 2015 18:35:56
Great win today. De Gea being a beast as usual. I see some people on here saying we didn't play well and the first 20 mins was bad. What I feel is, the gap between the top 10 teams has closed quite significantly in the last 3-4 years. Going away to Southampton, swansea, palace, stoke and maybe even leicester is so much harder than what it was before. We will continue to see these teams put in dominant performances at home and a draw at their stadiums is a good result. With that, today was a brilliant 3 points for us. Also, Martial is exciting. Drop rooney for herrera next game.

1.) 20 Sep 2015 18:43:44
Agree with all that detroit

2.) 20 Sep 2015 18:45:19
I tend to agree with all of that also.

3.) 20 Sep 2015 18:48:28
I agree Detroit.

4.) 20 Sep 2015 19:00:19
Detroit what!

5.) 20 Sep 2015 19:04:27
The trouble with the good point away thing is that we said that against the Toon who then get tonked by Watford making that point look like a poor result. you win the title by consistently beating the next 6-7 teams a tier down(and the bottom clubs of course), its hardly ever won by the results between the top two or three.

6.) 20 Sep 2015 19:57:20
I don't think anyone was happy with a point against Newcastle, especially as it wasn't an away game.

7.) 20 Sep 2015 20:23:39
I concur.

8.) 20 Sep 2015 21:56:22
Partdingle

Very good post, you need to beat up on the lower teams and just be steady against the top of the table. Arsenal have done that very well in the last few years.

You have to win away games in this league if you want to contend as all the top teams are very good at home.

20 Aug 2015 15:21:54
Regarding Pedro:
While he is not the best player out there, he is definitely an improvement over all our current right sided wingers. Januzaj and pereiera may go on to be top players in the future but at the present moment pedro would have been a better option. I like Mata, but not when he is playing on the wing and also he gives away the ball way too easily.

Regarding the team:
I believe we need to improve in 4 areas
1.center back
2.striker
3. right winger
4. goalkeeper
This I believe should be the order of priority as well.

We should also sell Evans, Hernandez, Valdes, Lindegaard and Degea.
I hate to see Degea go but I don't want us to keep a player who wants to go.

It is hard to get all this done in this transfer window but the more we get done the better.

Also without trying to jinx, saturday's game is the first game in a long time that I feel confident about winning before the game has actually started.

1.) 20 Aug 2015 18:07:35
Could also argue that if we brought pedro in that would limit the opportunities of players like adnan and pereira, meaning they probably wouldn't develop into the players they could be.
On Hernandez, if he is happy staying as back up we should keep him, great impact sub

2.) 20 Aug 2015 18:31:55
Man can we stop banging on about pedro. He's gone. Get over it. We will be fine with out him. I've got a feeling Adan we will be just fine. I trust Van Gaal

3.) 20 Aug 2015 20:21:00
Don't understand why I keep reading on here about Pereira behind a right winger. He plays through the middle and if he'd play out wide it'd be on the left to cut in and create like Mata does currently.

I do not understand why there are so many left wing targets but hardly any on right wing. I thought we are loaded on left wing and we desperately need a right winger. Maybe Sanchez is to be moved to the right this summer?

I don't think we should sign any striker because that would most likely mean rooney will play in a wide position or in the midfield and that is not good for the team. We are in a situation where if he is fit he plays and anywhere else apart from striker will hamper the team in the long run. Also signing a new striker would stunt wilson's growth. RVP and wilson are enough cover for the one striker position.

Can someone tell me what position did januzaj play against manchester city U-21? Winger or attacking mid?
I agree with jmb. While a loan might be beneficial in some ways, I would like to see wilson januzaj and pereira work together and be in the first team squad and slowly be integrated into the team. The three of them should get more game time next season and possible starts in the league and fa cups.
