Ed002, a two-part question for you. Is it true that Real Madrid have prioritized signing DDG over Courtois? It could be why Jose has decided to not play him again in the final 3 games of our season.

Also, is there any interest in Bernardo Silva? He was mentioned by you as a RW option in the first Utd Sharkopod, but was conspicuously absent from the second.

{Ed002's Note - (a) I don't think "prioritise" is the correct word. Courtois is happy where he is so their interest has shifted elsewhere - for now back to DDG. (b) Monaco has said they would rather not sell him to another club who has enquired of their players - and right now Manchester United have stepped back. They could look to him again in the summer.}

Ed002, long time reader, first time poster on this site. Guardiola mentioned in his press conference this morning that he has received multiple offers from England but hasn't made his mind up yet. I assume two of those offers are from City and Chelsea. Are Man Utd one of the clubs to have made contact with him? If not, with him openly stating he will manage in England, is that stance likely to change?

Happy new year!

{Ed002's Note - No the third offer (already rejected) was not from Manchester United.

Guardiola would, I am sure, be interested in hearing a proposal from the club but will be wary of a number of matters. With LvG in place and the clubs already having planned for the future the club will likely not pursue the matter unless something changes.}

LVG may have bought himself time till the end of the season (by doing absolutely nothing amazing eithor) but if we are serious about winning trophies again then surely we have to make at least as big an effort as everyone else to sign (imo) the best manager there is? I fear football has become a massive secondary concern with the powers that be at our club. top four, champs league and a marquee signing every year and I think there happy, pity, but I can't see it changing anytime soon.

{Ed002's Note - And when the club drop the well thought out plans and fail with a fan induced knee jerk reaction, where next.}

Plus if he goes to city we could be second best for the foreseeable.

Hardy knee jerk changing a manager (who has done okay, not brilliant) with the best there is, all be it a year before schedule. surely pep can continue, or maybe even improve on the clubs current plans?

Ed002, is the plan you are referring to one where Giggs gets the job in 2017 (as Ed001 believes) or someone else like Allegri/ Conte? If it is the latter, I personally don't understand the thought process behind that (going with an Italian manager not renowned to play the "United way" or attacking football) .

{Ed002's Note - Cool, but I doubt it.}

Giggs, gary Neville no.2?

Spot on, with LVG in charge I fear we are going nowhere : ( I wish we would go for Jose or Pep but sadly you're right, the corporate clowns in charge of our club haven't got a clue at the moment and sticking with LVG in the "hope" that he comes good is a big BIG mistake : (

I don't understand why people who are unhappy with the possession football LVG has us playing want us to bring in Guardiola, it just doesn't make sense to me.

I realise that Guardiola's teams have generally managed to play possession football and still retain a decent degree of attacking intent, but I have always been concerned about him since reading some comments from him about 4, 5, maybe 6 years ago.

The comments which concerned me where in relation to Barca's possession game, and while I don't remember his exact words, he basically said that the point of possession is that the other team can't score if they don't have the ball, and that it was important for players not to unneccesarily risk giving the ball back to the opposition, since patient probing would find a way through. It was something along those lines anyway.

I'm not happy with LVG, but I don't think either Mourinho or Guardiola are the answer. If LVG is finally starting to let his players off the leash a little, sticking with him may well be our best option for now.
