Not surprised at all with the defeat. Our football has been below average for a long while now. How has mourinho still not got rid of smalling is shocking. Seriously smalling and jones have survived at united just for filling the english quota of players otherwise they would have been nowhere near the first team.

luckily we are still 2nd because of the way chelsea have played lately.

We are at serious risk of being overtaken by Liverpool and spurs if our performances don’t improve soon. Not good.

With the insane amount of money spent in the past few windows we still look like a club that needs one of its biggest overhaul in terms of players and manager in our history.

Lucky we started the season well beating relegation fodder or we would have been out of the top 4 already.

The best game we played this season was against spurs without kane in a 1-0 win. Apart from that can't find a match in which we actually dominated and won convincingly.

Agree wasnt going to be easy for mourinho to get us to the top but he is a short term fix and with two years already gone can he get us on top next year? Highly doubt it.

Mourinho needs to sort the mess quickly or we should be looking elsewhere with a long term project in mind.

Agree with your post mate. But I would say that the Spurs game was very dicey, Ali missed a sitter moments before we scored.

Our best performance in the league by a mile was the opening game of the season against West Ham. We battered teams that pretty much have all lost their manager, and we only battered them on paper. West Ham we really did batter.

Mourinho is adding to the mess imo, time to make drastic changes or make the same error we did holding onto LVG "wishing" he would get it right.

It's bad making mistakes, what's worse is not correcting them and what is worse than that is not knowing that you are making mistakes. Jose is confused and annoyed, he won't look in the mirror, so time to make that change again. It's bad to keep changing managers if they are doing well, but if they aren't then there is nothing better to correct a massive problem.

2.) 30 Dec 2017 20:42:11
The reason i mentioned spurs game is because we played some good football throughout the 90 mins with some fluidity and against a formidable opponent.

I have huge respect for mourinho but he doesn't feel like the right fit for us. His style of play is the complete opposite of what we want our club to play like. It made sense when we appointed him for a short term fix but hanging on to him after this season will be time and money wasted. I think our next appointment is going to be the most important one and we need to get it right.

3.) 30 Dec 2017 23:12:32
Our players attitude and performance is starting to the Chelsea side that Jose was on his way to relegating. I imagine our players wouldn't be too upset if he were to go judging by their complete lack of effort. A new manager resets the clock for them to carry on being appalling.

This might be too late but is there any chance of getting a ticket to watch the season opener against west ham?

Tigers a group on Facebook called manchester United tickets always some on there.

2.) 30 Jun 2017 18:44:32
Thanks a lot bro. Will make sure to check there.

So much for Rooney being back in training early. Just seen the pics of him in Ibiza, he's looking more out of shape than ever πŸ˜‚ Can't see him being ready to fight for his place if he comes back in the condition he's in now πŸ‘ŽπŸΌ

4.) 30 Jun 2017 20:22:36
Maybe fighting for his place in line at the canteen at Carrington. Should be good viewing with him and Shaw.

5.) 30 Jun 2017 21:06:04
Why would he change his career routine now after many years? Rooney has always been a player who has never looked after himself and who needed 5-6 consecutive games to get his rhythm on. Coming from the bench is not going to work for a player like that who is never in good shape compared to his peers whist lacking match fitness. All very good in your 20s, but pretty rubbish when your metabolism slows down with age.

6.) 30 Jun 2017 22:01:07
Eric. The point is he looks more overweight now than ever. I'm sure we all agree he's never really looked after himself. Nobody said he would make any changes. He looks like he's retired now though. The only position he'll be fighting for next year is Neil Ruddock's guest appearance on A League Of Their Own.

7.) 30 Jun 2017 23:53:52
Reminds me of Jan Molby but without the pace anymore.

Great win yesterday. Just posting on how mourinho has done some things differently with us. At the start of the season the 3 main areas of concern for me about mourinho were style of football, squad rotation and youth developement.

Style of football - think we have played some lovely football throughout the season unfortunately we don't have the goals to show for it as our conversion has been poor. The one player who we missed who could have added so much to our attacking play was anthony martial. Imagine if last seasons martial would have turned up again this season, most of those draws wouldn't have happend. Hoping martial finds his form back and with some new summer additions we can see a much better united side next season.

Squad rotation - this was the biggest concern of mine as mourinho tends to stick to his first 11 most of the times especially when he was at chelsea. This season he has been very good at this and understands that united need to fight on all fronts and has not only been building a team but a whole squad just like fergie did.

Youth dev - still too early to talk about youth developement under him. It took him some time to trust the likes of rashford and lingard for the first team but as the season has progressed both are starting to shine given the chances. Expecting tuanzebe, fosu mensah and andreas pereira to do the same next season.
Only player who has struggled seems to be anthony martial. Hope he can pick himself up, put this season behind him and get back to his former self.

Good post their

We were due a result like that yesterday

It seems that we are inconstent at the moment, performing against the big clubs but failing to finish the smaller clubs off, a lot of players needed a performance like that yesterday

Style of Football - I think we have moments of brilliance followed by moments of "terribleness", seems that we still finding our groove which is expected

Squad Rotation - Mourinho likes to work with roughly 18 players, I think he still is trying to find some players best position and formation, I think he adapted well and has rotated well despite the situation he in

Youth - The key is getting a balance of youth and experience to mix together, we have some very good talent coming through, I personally think we need to a have a summer in buying some world class and experienced players, probably need around 4-5 players with around that many being sold, then maybe next summer we can focus buying some quality youth instead.

Well was expecting this to happen with the number of games we have played already. So not surprised by it but just gutted it had to happen at the worst time possible.

The thing that really bothers me with the current crop of players is nobody ready to step up and be a leader and encourage others to see the game through. Only player i feel who comes close is ander herrera who sadly didn't feature in the game today.

Rooney has done a good job on that end in the past but he isn't doing it now and i don't blame him because he is approaching the end of his career and hasn't really been someone important in mourinho's plans.

Mourinho has been ruthless with changes during his second season regarding transfers wherever he has been but i feel it won't be the same at united. Reason i say this is because of all the fans, media, past players or whatever saying it won't be the united way or some bs like that.

Btw I hope he is ruthless and makes a lot of changes. Just not enough quality at the moment to win the title and under mourinho i am expecting to compete with the likes of bayern, madrid and barca.

Still have a lot to play for this season so hoping we can pick ourselves up and get behind the team for now.

Finally 250 goals for rooney. Amazing achievement and well deserved. Not been his fan the past few years but was one of our best players since he joined and he was what made our team click creatively. Could have offered us so much more had he took care of himself but guess it was never meant to be. Anyways brilliant player, wonderful career and can't remember him having any off days on the pitch during the fergie era. Wish him luck for the future.

He's been on a serious decline for a good 3-4 years, having reach what was his peak. But, when he signed and for many years after, we got some excellent performances and seasons from him. Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo was immense for the short time it lasted. Great times and memories. I'm glad he came and we have those memories.

2.) 22 Jan 2017 17:27:30
Agree with everything. never watched anything like rooney, ronaldo and tevez partnership for the the short time it lasted in football. Also remember some defender mentioning how was it like defending against rooney and him mentioning that he was like a bee for those 90 minutes always buzzing around running here and there create space.
He had his off field issues but during his peak he was a total football player. stamina, dynamism, positional awareness, fighting spirit, skills, team player, leader you name anything he had it.
Just made me angry the way he is on the decline but always thankful for what he did for us.

spot on mate. I think we are ok while attacking set pieces but the service has been poor. Same can't be said about defending set pieces and crosses from open play.

Game against huddersfield we were trying to play through the middle and it was clearly not working as we were slow to create anything which gave them time to organise easily ( this has been the case with most teams ) . in the second half as soon as the first cross came in from open play by mata, lukaku scored.

Not against playing through the middle as it now suits most of our players but having a striker like lukaku upfront its shocking we aren't trying to cross more through the wings.

Agree with everything. good post. Martial and rashford seem to look good because of just how average our squad has been. Both definitely have huge potential and will have to step up quickly or their time will run out soon with the likes of sanchez coming in.

We had the long term and identity model with moyes and lvg but made a u-turn once mourinho became available for quick success (epl title)
Happy that mourinho has signed an extension which tells me he wants to win the title with us. However we will have to go through the rebuild phase again when he leaves regardless of if he wins the title or not.
Winning with mourinho will make it a little better and give us more time and patience to rebuild (especially our identity)
If things don't go well with mourinho i would like us to go for diego simeone, i feel his style is similar to mourinho and might be able to adapt to a more attacking style with better players and money.
