Wan-Bissaka would be a very good buy for you guys. Prob the only RB who managed to cope with Mane this year. Would be a major upgrade for that position for you. And considering he is british, you have to expect silly money for him.

@cantonas - now that made me chuckle - even though we have no interest in De Ligt.

Neutral observer her but i'd tend to agree with RedMan - which is prob going to mean half of you will automatically disagree with him :-) But look how Shaw has improved since Mourinho gave him a kick up the backside. From the outside looking in, i'd say you have too many players who aren't hungry for success. Milner isn't the best player floating around but i'd take him over quite a few of your midfielders atm. Which is not to say Mourinho is blameless.

I thought Man United had supposedly broken off dealings with Fergie Jnr as an agent back in 2004. Was this not the case? Or did that only apply to first teamers?

Ed002 you make the statement that Jose doesn't think ManU will adapt to what he thinks they need. What sort of things is he talking about?

phil_LFC

{Ed002's Note - That they may not be willing to hand over the reins completely and give him their total support as they did with Ferguson and Arsenal have done with Wenger.}

I think Mikey might be on the right track. Klopp likes to press high but you guys don't need to follow that. Just need to work out what style best suits the way you want to play and then work towards it. But would require the backing of the management (did someone mention Woodward? ) and patience. It won't come overnight - I mean we still haven't won anything and Klopp has been in charge for a few years now.

Barcelona have long stopped doing things Cruyff's way - which is one of the reasons why they are not the force they used to be.

{Ed0333's Note - I agree mate.

Its not all doom and gloom. 3 years ago, our defence was arguably as bad as yours and we had a worse gk. In fact, you do have the makings of a decent defence but you need to buy smart and shift on those who aren't good enough for the level you want to be at. An older CB such as Alderweireld (or perhaps Godin if you want to play a deep line) would prob work wonders with your younger backs. But I think bohzman nailed it - what happens next for you guys depends on how the Glazers see the club.

Players like Cantona used to do extras and it showed on the field. Atm it looks like you have too many players who don't look interested in putting it in on or off the field. If they were performing then I reckon you have a point about it being fine. But atm, they need to buckle down and show that they wish to fight. Btw, Fergie wasnt a fan of players having off field distractions.

Mourinho's record over the years for transfers is too good to put it down to just luck. Personally I think Matic will turn out to be one of the best buys of the season. I can't believe Chelsea let him go - maybe they know something I don't but he is going to allow Pogba in particular much more freedom. And with Herrera on your bench, you are looking very strong in that area now.
Yes you failed to strengthen in your wide areas (I anticipate teams trying to get at you down your left) but your side is a work in progress and if I was a Manu fan, I would be quietly confident about the year ahead. Certainly the Manchester derbies are going to be great to watch with such difference styles in action. i'm still not convinced about Lukaku whose work rate hasn't impressed me in the past but if anyone can get him to not chuck a sook when the going gets tough then its Mourinho.
