Gary Neville's appointment to Valencia has to be the most covered and forensically detailed managerial appointment of all time. Almost every hour there is an update on every detail associated with the whole thing. My feeling is that this is because he is seen as an intelligent man, and perfect (on paper at least, given his career) manager material, so they whole country are pinning there hopes on him succeeding in the hope that it will lead to similar appointments of English managers. I hope the media lay of a bit cause whilst it is all well wishes and encouragement at the moment surely some media outlets will be only too glad to stick the boot in if anything, even something tiny, goes wrong. I think it's all gone a bit far to be honest and he should just be left to get on with it. one thing for sure is if he fails or not (hopefully he does well) he has already showed the stones of a lion, and IMO can not be judged correctly on such a small term in charge.

Like all English football talent, If he starts well, they'll destroy him down the road when things go south.

He has been a massive part of Sky's success in the last few years and is regarded as one of the best pundits in the world. As such he is a massive loss to Sky, so they are bound to try and milk every last drop out of him leaving. As for the other broadcasters he has been a thorn in their side just by being good at what he does for a rival firm. So they will be hoping they can bring him down a peg or two.

It is what happens when your at the top, people are either scrambling over you to make them money or they are trying to shoot you down to profit from your fall from grace.

Gary dealt with it during his playing career, I'm sure he can continue to deal with it now.

Bit more puffing and blowing, but ultimately we were more or less the same as all season, predictable, pedestrian and poor. It has now reached to vital point of no return for van genius as far as I'm concerned, and I really believe his days should be numbered. Problem is do the board think it to big a risk to get rid of him now, and miss out on top 4? Or are they brave enough replace him, ala liverpool, with a manager that inspires us on to the title? We will find out soon enough if it is just van buff playing it safe, or is it the whole club that has no b**ls?

On current form who says we'll make top 4. He's had long enough and should be moved on.

2.) 05 Dec 2015 18:51:13
We won't be making top 4 with lvg in charge so as far as I'm concerned, sack him now and get ancelotti in till end of season. He can't do worse than the idiot we have in charge.

3.) 05 Dec 2015 18:52:08
Where is the progress from this time last year?

He should have been gone in the summer.

4.) 05 Dec 2015 19:00:20
Well exactly strebor, but you can be sure van gaal will be as arrogant as ever and telling the powers that be, and anyone who will listen, that this is all part of the plan, a proccessss if you will. Question is though, does anyone still believe him? I certainly don't and hopefully someone with enough sway can see through the clouds of bluff too.

Watched the game with my 13 year old son tonight, he is, and has been man united mad for all of his life, but now is when he is really watching the games and really geting what it's all about. My point? Well it's this. My son is watching a team full of absolute chickens (apart from Rooney, who even when out of form always looks for the ball) and I found myself this evening feeling sorry for him, and even apologising for this crap that we now call man utd. This team is a million miles of where its should be, a million miles away from the team I fell in love with when I was a kid. LVG is a complete bluffer. I know the klopp factor may fizzle out, but at least they play some nice football and try to do the right things! We need new blood in the dug out and at Least 1 new superstar on the pitch, at least then my son can enjoy the match instead of sitting there wondering what all the fuss is about with our'massive' club.

We are a million miles away from the elite teams of Europe on that showing.

I think the manager needs to really sit down and take stock. Playing two holding CM players at home to PSV - knowing PSV are going to sit deep and defend - was poor tactics.
We need to change the formation. I have never really liked it. The system we used in the first half against Watford worked really well. Even the system we used towards the end of last season when we went on that run suits us better.

As much as I hate to say it, we are a better team without Rooney. I lost count of the time he lost it in the final third allowing PSV to counter. He should have been take off early in the second half.

Oh well. I just hope we can bounce back on Saturday.

I feel you roon my lad is 15 and has red tinted contacts he will always find an excuse for the team but tonight he went to bed frustrated and gutted it pisses me off.

Think expectations are now so low ,that once again we will see 4th as decent.I said when fergie retired and moyes was appointed that I hoped we would not 'deteriorate' so much that we would consider 4th every season as success : ( LVG is all wrong for us but my hope is that he was sent in to trim the squad, cut wages and leave it better for the next manager

roonbest

He was sent in to win the league. He has been given more funds than anyone else in Europe over the past two years and would have spent just as much as Fergie during his tenure now. No fan will accept fourth this year and if they do then they are deluded.

Hardy knee jerk changing a manager (who has done okay, not brilliant) with the best there is, all be it a year before schedule. surely pep can continue, or maybe even improve on the clubs current plans?

LVG may have bought himself time till the end of the season (by doing absolutely nothing amazing eithor) but if we are serious about winning trophies again then surely we have to make at least as big an effort as everyone else to sign (imo) the best manager there is? I fear football has become a massive secondary concern with the powers that be at our club. top four, champs league and a marquee signing every year and I think there happy, pity, but I can't see it changing anytime soon.

roonbest

{Ed002's Note - And when the club drop the well thought out plans and fail with a fan induced knee jerk reaction, where next.}

Think Danny will be a massive player for us this season ,I feel he will develop in the obvious lacking areas and be v important to the team,be a huge mistake to sell him ,Hernandez on the other hand has had the potential sucked out of him season by season and is now only half the player he was when he first signed ,needs to be moved on imo

He has all the physical attributes to be a success in the prem league, only question is on his application to being the best he can possibly be, time will tell, but he fear he could be more rayes than ronaldo.

This is the problem with some posters on here, it does not have to be one or the other, we can surely get a performance and a victory in the same match? can't we?

It all boils down to where you believe our rightful place is in world football. For me posatives should never be taken from a 0-0 home draw, against an average side. But there again I believe we should be up there with the top 3 squads in the world, just my opinion, it's not wrong or right, it's just mine.

Shawthing, klopp has shown us all what positive, progressive management looks like (might not last forever as is, but when he adds a few they could be a real force) and I have no doubt our squad is better than their's. So on that note, it's true, our standards have dropped dramatically, to the point where you are impressed with a slightly more spirited than usual, second half performance, against (no offence to the hammers) a second rate team . Me I think our rightful place is up there above all the mediocrity, with the barca's, bayern's and real's, and yes I do mean above the likes of chelski, City and PSG.
