Dybala been mentioned again as a possible transfer, 12 million seemingly, any truth in this story anyone? If he was attainable aththat price I reckon he'd be a good addition.

I'm so torn over Dybala. Clearly a super talented player. But much like Rabiot he just seems to be unable to consistently show it. I'm not convinced he'd want to move to England or whether he'd adapt to the EPL.

Also he seems to play best as a second striker, floating between the forward line and dropping deeper to pick up the ball and create chances.

I think like Lautaro Martinez he would probably play better in a team that plays with a front two, maybe a side that plays a 352 or a 4411 type shape.

I reckon he’d be another Di Maria, as soon as the going got tough for whatever reason and his bags would be packed and the dummy would be out the pram.

Hi eds any truth in the neymar interest from utd? Thanks.

shamlk

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach to PSG.}

1.) 28 Jul 2022 20:56:09
God i hope not.

2.) 28 Jul 2022 20:57:57
Behave! ?.

3.) 28 Jul 2022 22:00:57
Thank f*** for that?.

4.) 29 Jul 2022 09:50:52
No. Just no.

5.) 29 Jul 2022 09:50:52
No. Just no.

6.) 29 Jul 2022 20:58:50
We need a sulky lazy pants to replace Pogba and the added bonus that Neymar can show Bruno how to throw himself down and roll at a higher level.

Hey eds, particularly ed02,

Lots of rumors circulating about Herreras future at the club! I think he is our most influential player when he is played in his proper position, the 10 role! I would hate to see him leave!

Obviously there will be interest but in your opinion do you think he will leave in January or even next summer?
Thanks in advance! :)

shamlk

{Ed002's Note - I don't think he will be leaving in January - the summer will be his choice I would think.}

1.) 18 Oct 2015 21:18:35
First time poster so here goes,
Sorry to basically ask the same thing but does that mean you think he will probably leave in the summer?
I hope not!

2.) 19 Oct 2015 12:55:05
I think you'll find the Ed means it will be up to Herrera to choose if he wants to leave next summer.

If he wants to leave he will be able to.

3.) 19 Oct 2015 13:35:12
Ok cheers, i thought he might mean that but thought i'd ask. Cheers for the reply.

4.) 19 Oct 2015 08:08:04
Hi ed002

Is that because the stories about Barcelona looking to make a bid for Herrera are true?

{Ed002's Note - No, it will be to do with the player deciding he wants to move on if he doesn't get the opportunities he deserves.}

5.) 20 Oct 2015 08:48:08
I like your wording there, Ed002. We always look more of a team with Herrera playing centrally, and he carries a genuine threat from midfield. You'd think LVG would accept one or two losses of possession for what he gives us, especially with the number of defensive players we deploy to clean up any mess.

6.) 21 Oct 2015 16:10:48
Thanks for all the expert info Ed02! :)

Hey guys, lots of talk of Antony of course, what do you think of that idea Good right winger, rotate martial and rash as a cf? I'm not sure, can only be the logical explanation? Seeing we will be so light of cfs? On another note where is rashs best position, has to be cf if Antony is signed with additional young cover on right or perhaps competition for rash on right seeing he's not in great form, to say the least.

shamlk

1.) 30 Jul 2022 00:13:54
I can't see us forking over £80m+ for Antony, particularly if the Ronaldo situation isn't resolved soon and he remains on our books.

2.) 30 Jul 2022 08:05:26
Well according to Luckhurst EtH wants 4 new players.

A goalkeeper, a midfielder and two forwards.

I'd imagine it's a cheap back up keeper. The midfielder is obviously FDJ or an alternative if that deal cannot be done. While I'd expect the forwards will be one wide player (probably right sided) and a centre forward.

Something like FDJ, Antony, Sesko and a backup keeper based on current rumours.

3.) 30 Jul 2022 09:56:13
I don’t personally think we’re getting De Jong or Antony now. Sesko and GK would be a start.

4.) 30 Jul 2022 10:55:53
Fair bit of cash to get those deals done Shaps.

The price Ajax are quoting for Antony should be a quick "thanks but no thanks". Sesko being quoted at an estimated £55 million is also way too much considering RBS sold Adeyemi for half that.

Maybe there's a deal there for Sesko if they can negotiate a reduction in price. Ajax were firm on the price for Martinez so I would assume there is no room for negotiating with Antony.

Ten Hag is rolling the dice waiting to get players in. If we start well, all's well that ends well. If it goes pear shaped his stubbornness to move on from unrealistic targets could come back to bite him.

5.) 30 Jul 2022 11:57:28
i reguarly read the Dutch papers and watch tv vi internet as I like to keep my hand in with the language as I lived there for a while.

Before UTDs interest they valued Martinez at 25 million and Anthony at 40 by all accounts.

6.) 30 Jul 2022 12:20:57
Mumbles, I tend to agree that while Antony is a top young player and clearly EtH's preferred target, I think the price quoted is too much and could easily become a millstone around his neck.

I think Antony would need a year to adjust to the EPL, which he might not get from the fans if he costs in excess of 60m.

There are conflicting reports about how much RBS would want for Sesko, a lot of media outlets have jumped on this 55m fee, yet there are reports that they would want no less than 30m. So who knows what sort of fee he would cost.

I actually like his approach of only buying the right players. The club in recent history has been far too concerned with making a signing that they have gone too far down the list of options. Ultimately bringing in players who weren't ideally suited or good enough. That is how we have a squad we have spent 1.4bn on that is probably worth 600m if we are lucky now.

Far better to go with a youngster who might not be good enough then spend 40m on a player who isn't good enough.

7.) 30 Jul 2022 13:52:20
And yet he can't win either way there Shappy if the season doesn't go well. If they sign no midfielder, it's 'they didn't sign a midfielder and ended up having to play Garner every week when McTominay broke his leg' vs 'they ended up resorting to Neves who looks completely lost'.
The alternative is that things do slowly start to come good. I too would prefer them not to resort to 4-5th choice players, but firmly believe that 2nd-3rd choice is fine as those players can still work out great, and you can't have everyone.

8.) 30 Jul 2022 17:17:52
Spenno, it's all about the narrative. No matter what happens this season if the media want to they can portray it in a negative light.

If we win the League cup and finish 4th it could be considered that we had a good season in context of where the club finds itself currently. Or the media will say the smallest cup and 4th place isn't good enough for a club the size of United and that we are the new Arsenal.

Both are true, but it's the context that is important. If the club settles for 4th and a cup run then that isn't good enough, if it's a passing point on the road to bigger and better things then there is nothing wrong with it and it's actually a good sign.

9.) 30 Jul 2022 23:16:13
Anthony is a terrific player and will only get better. His transfer valuation is only going to be higher in years to come. I would hate to see him at City or Liverpool and think if only we had signed him.

29 May 2022 21:11:40
if Ralph can't manage players and conduct them, no harm to them, i would imagine its like a fukn creche these days, but if he can't go to a training session and be hands off then why in gods name would he be higher up the board! I would be delighted if the new manager said no, ill organise what he is suppose be doing, transfers etc jez let the manager do it!

Well it was a disaster of a transfer window with an awful lot of mistakes made! But in fairness lads, their first transfer window and there's no way they'll let that kinda farce happen again!

Lesson learned the hard way! But at least lesson learned!

shamlk

1.) Shamlk, these people are highly paid 'professionals'. The idea is they get paid the big bucks because they are capable of doing the job in the first place.

It's not like Moyes is in his first year as a football manager is it?

2.) Nah I know it's not Moyes fault but it's Woodwards first year trying to negotiate deals, Maybe its a good lesson learned for him but on the other hand he's most likely not the man for the job! Stick to the sponsorship!

3.) Shamlk, I'm not excusing moyes. I hold Woodward and Moyes jointly responsible.

my point is that you can't just say that its OK because for both of them it was their first year in the job.

when you're running a billion dollar corporation you are expected to be able to adequately perform the key duties of your post. I would suggest that bringing in new players is a key part of running a football club.

fair enough if Woodward and moyes don't have the experience, but when you're in their position you have to recognise your weaknesses and bring in people with strengths in those areas who can compensate ie in this case a director of football.

4.) 'lesson learned'?

I'd reserve judgement on that, mate, until we see what happens in the next window.

Either way we can survive without Maguire, sell him asap and get Felix in or someone similar, a striker, we need funds to buy someone, harry would bound to raise maybe 35, 40 m if it's Newcastle interested.

Its all great to give 5 or 6 promising young players a good run when ya have the core of the team like Schmeichal, Irwin, Mc Clair, Keane Cantona and Cole. We just don't have that quality of players at the moment in my opinion to be able t give all the youngsters a big run of games! I think we need a few world class players especially cd and CM , a striker! IMO this time is slightly different from class 92, the integration process should be a bit more gradual.

How could we possibly go back and ask barcelona to sell us Depay! Talk about bending over and asking them to take us up the arse! we've spent 3 months trying sign De Jong and they managed to get him to forget about 17m they owed in wages and take a paycut, don't get me wrong fair play to Barcelona but they had a cracking transfer window, sending our clowns over now looking for Depay jez that would be an embarrassment! Go get gokpo by all means if possible forget about Depay! We nee another CF first in the next 6 days, in my humble opinion! 2 games a week all season apart from world cup, our squad is very very limited, any injuries were screwed at present.
