Hi Ed, could Montoya from Barca be at Utd in Jan. Can play RB, LB and RM according to reports. Barca have said there speaking with teams from England, Germany and Italy, LVG does like a versatile player. Obv it's confirmed he's available, are Utd going to be in for him. Always feel a rumour has got more legs when the club say absolutely nothing.

slink101

{Ed002's Note - There has been no interest shown by Manchester United.}

1.) 29 Dec 2014 18:22:16
Not surprised he is not good enough for the PL.

Hi ed, seen a couple of reports this morn that Bayern have told Man Utd and Liverpool Shaquiri can leave in Jan. Also seen Utd could move for Varane in Jan aswell. Any legs to these???

slink101

{Ed002's Note - Why would Bayern Munich tell Manchester United and Liverpool? Nothing has changed - it has been known for some time he would be available in January and discussions have been taking place with a couple of clubs.}

1.) Cheers ed, the reports were on the gossip section of sly sports. To be fair, I'm hoping for a defender in Jan, obv wouldn't moan if Shaquiri made his way to us.

2.) The main rumours knocking about are Strootman, Shaqiri, Sneijder and Varane. Hopefully one or two come off in January.

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath.}

3.) Over any of them? A question ed, you say that we are looking for a centre half and defensive midfielder in January but I don't think you have dropped out any names? Could you enlighten.

{Ed002's Note - On November 24 I explained: Hummels or Godin if available; Virgil van Dijk but there is interest from elsewhere and I cannot see him sitting on the bench; Miranda - only at a much lower fee; Joël Veltman; Terence Kongolo. The critical issue is timing - few if any will be available in January. Kongolo is of growing interest.

Strootman remains a good shout for the summer.}

4.) 27 Nov 2014 16:50:07
Theres a few nice names !!!! Think miranda and kongolo most likely! Is lucas cruz 'the new kaka ' also a name we are looking into ed?

{Ed002's Note - Lucas Silva has been the subject of discussions with two other sides. I understand that it was a third party who made contact regarding MU, but it is unknown if they are acting on behalf of the club or not.}

5.) Cheers ed.

Great feedback ed nice one

Couple of places saying we have bid £7million for Enzo Perez, is that roughly what he's worth or is it just another load of pie in the sky?

Marquinhos, Laporte, De Brunye, Hummels, Dragovic. What are people's thoughts about any of these being signed tomorrow???

slink101

1.) It would have to be Hummels if any simply for the leadership/expierience.
Marquinhos is been quoted at 100 million euro's so, no thankyou.
Laporte I'm convinced will be one of the best in the world one day, one for the future.
Dragovic I'm not convinced with.
De Brunye, don't know much about him.

2.) None of the above.all. Internet/paper talk! Would not mind a couple though

3.) 02 Feb 2015 07:24:34
I'd love Laporte and would probably prefer him to Varane (who looks Chelski bound at some point anyway). The problem is I think Laporte needs an experienced CB alongside him for the next few years if he's going to develop into the player he could be - and we're lacking one of those at the moment.

Clyne would be a fantastic signing. We know Southampton sell if their valuation is met - and so I'd like to see us test their resolve to keep him at the club at the very least.

Ed002 has implied that Vidal could be available at the right price and so I'd love to see us give it a go.

I imagine all three could be signed if we paid the right money and could actually see us taking second place if we signed them.

4.) Except Dragovic (who I know relatively little about) the rest of those players listed by the OP would enhance our squad. I made an effort to watch Bilbao yesterday to see what all the Laporte fuss was about and I have to say he looks impressive, much like a young Sergio Ramos. Also the little lad Munian is a beautiful player to watch.

One more player mentioned in the OP is Kevin De Bruyne who has been phenomenal this year. I think Chelsea made a mistake letting him go. Class player.

5.) Herbie,
I take it that you know much about Dragovic?

6.) Mbd
Yes of course, he lives next door to me and cleans my car on a Tuesday, his wife takes my kids to school regularly and we all meet up at christmas to sing karaoke and do a little morris dancing.
We go on holiday together once a year to Mablethorpe's Golden sand and stay in an 8 berth caravan (luxury of course) its a little cramped because my wife has a weight problem but we work around her. it, sorry.
Behave yaself soft lad

7.) Was asking because, very lil is known about the guy, so when u mention you are not convinced, (unlike de bruyne) i was hoping you could shed more light on him. No harm or cynicism meant.

8.) 02 Feb 2015 19:12:48
Herbie, I hope you feel suitably contrite, now :)

9.) If only people could buy a sense of humour it would be so much easier.

Hi Ed, if DDG does leave in the summer. And the fact VV hasn't played for the best part of a year, what keepers could you see Utd going for??? Could get Cech but he looks way past his best, Krul is ok but I doubt he is Utd quality. All the quality keepers abroad are not abailable, its a concern seeing as how good DDG is.

slink101

{Ed002's Note - Krul, but it depends on other factors. I have told you this before.}

Who would be happy if the final signing were, Vermaelen, Blind, De Jong and Cuardo? With Herrera and Shaw, youth and the current team. I think that's a title pushing team.

stu

slink101

1.) I'd be very happy but I have my heart set on Vidal lol

2.) It's an odd situation really. I think most would be happy (although I really don't think Blind is good enough) were it not for the fact that Ed has come out talking record transfer fees and we've been linked heavily with Vidal and Hummels throughout the summer.

It would be our best window in a long while regardless.

3.) Not really sure blind is needed. he's a good left wing back but we have shaw, young and James who can play there. Think shaw is better than blind and James will be. Young is working like a dog to try to stay in the team. And blind isn't good enough to play in our midfield, he's a jack of all trades kind of player and we need someone who can cement their place in the team. A solid midfielder, a strong influential centre back and possibly a new right wing back. If we could finish the summer with Vidal, hummels and cuadrado I would be absolutely ecstatic. If we can't get our main targets then the back ups should be de Jong/ carvalho, vermaelen/ benatia, dani Alves.

Is it possible that Man Utd are waiting for teams to bow out of the WC before starting negotiations for players? Spain have gone out so maybe bids go in for players that we are after. England are out so maybe bids for Barkley go in, when Holland are out we bid for the players we want. Same with Brazil, France etc etc.

slink101

1.) It does make a difference when players do not have the world cup anymore and can openly start looking at their next move. Nations generally would not take too kindly to players trying to score a better deal/move when they should be focused on playing for their country.

That said, I hope to god we do not bid for a Barkley. Grossly overrated and overpriced.

2.) World Cup didn't stop teams from signing players like Fabregas, Rakitic, Diego Costa etc.

So if the World Cup is the only reason why we haven't signed a player then we are digging a grave for ourselves really.

3.) I think the only team we are waiting for to bow out is Holland so that we have a manager!

13 Jun 2014 16:03:32
Anybody else starting to panic about the lack of transfer activity, shaw bid gone cold. Other teams signing players left, right and center. I honestly pray were just being ultra private about players coming in.

slink101

1.) 13 Jun 2014 16:40:51
Yes if you have read the page you are posting on plenty of people are beginning to panic.

2.) No, not a bit of panic in me, it's all a game that affects you in no way. If you feel a bit panicky think of something that could happen to you or a loved one and worrying about a bunch of lads kicking a ball about will fade away.

3.) 13 Jun 2014 18:46:48
Well said, Carloto. It's all about perspective.

4.) If the game doesn't affect you in any way carloto, it's the wrong game for you!

5.) Actually it does affect me but not to the extent I'd come in a forum to get panicked and upset about not buying players.
And having your son diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour really puts things into perspective, football really isn't worth getting stressed.

6.) Sorry to hear that Carloto, and nice work Strebor, real classy.

7.) 13 Jun 2014 23:13:21
carloto sorry to hear that I am in total agreement football means nothing compared to that do not realy no what to say only sorry for what is happening to your family

8.) 13 Jun 2014 23:32:14
Dodgy banter his comment obviously wasn't up when I commented! Come on I'm not heartless. My bad carloto my apologies

9.) Pretty sure Shaw deal is done, the rest no one knows because it's new players daily

10.) Carloto my thoughts are with you and your family, tough times just hang on in there mate

11.) 14 Jun 2014 10:37:24

Chris

{Ed002's Note - That is where the people involved will be. If they were to be in Paris, then the meeting would be in Paris. If they were in Moscow, then the meeting would be in Moscow. You really should be able to come to grips with this without my help.}

It was on sport talk, I have no doubt signings are coming in this week. Just not got a clue who it will be, as soon as the Rojo bid popped up. I realized Utd are doing all they can to keep signings under wraps, Shaw And Herrera were agreed before LVG came in. LVGs signings will happen this week hopefully.

Rojo if signed, will play part of the defensive three. 6 foot 4 and will cover LB if needed.
