What are the short, tight black bib tops worn in training for and why do only a few people wear them at a time?

unitedred71

1.) 07 Jul 2016 12:10:04
Heart rate monitor's I believe.

2.) 07 Jul 2016 12:23:18
I think they have some form of tracker in them as well to see how fast and how far they are running.

3.) 07 Jul 2016 12:33:20
Heart monitors, fitness reading?

4.) 07 Jul 2016 12:31:01
I know, what happened to good old skins and shirts.

5.) 07 Jul 2016 12:38:10
Thanks guys. I wondered whether they had some sort of GPS/ tracking but I don't understand why only one or two wear them at a time. must be too expensive :-)

6.) 07 Jul 2016 15:14:47
the only gps tracker was fitted to giggsys car by the players so they knew he wasnt near there wags :)

7.) 07 Jul 2016 16:44:34
GPRS it is! I used them at St Helens rugby league whilst at uni doing Sports Science. The amount of info from them is a lot and takes hours to break down and analyse, as it coincides with other variables (heart rate sometimes being one of them) hence why only a few players wear them at a time!

8.) 07 Jul 2016 16:46:25
GPS* 🙈.

After 40 years of disappointment I was determined not to get excited about the Euros. Maybe it's the sun but like they say there's no fool like an old fool. come on England!

unitedred71

1.) 09 Jun 2016 13:55:29
50 years of hurt 😉.

2.) 09 Jun 2016 14:26:43
Welsh,

You not remember us winning the Euro's in 1976?

3.) 09 Jun 2016 14:40:42
Did you? No I didn't know you did honestly ha, I stand corrected.

4.) 09 Jun 2016 15:09:02
40 years of disappointment, 50 years of hurt. I'm confused. Are you guys talking about England or Liverpool?

5.) 09 Jun 2016 15:24:02
GDS? Stop making things up to ease the pain :)

6.) 09 Jun 2016 15:32:24
Welsh,

No we didn't, but glad you got the joke!

7.) 09 Jun 2016 15:54:18
Ha you could of literally fooled me I would've believed you, never mind it's your year 😉.

8.) 09 Jun 2016 21:37:40
90 and 96 were the last decent tournaments we had. 1990 being the last decent world cup as a spectacle.

9.) 09 Jun 2016 23:19:22
Italia 90 is regarded as one of the dullest world cups ever with quite a low number of goals scored overall.

10.) 10 Jun 2016 04:33:23
90 was great, very good wc.

Yesterday I did something I haven't done for as long as I can remember. I watched the first 30 minutes of the game, was bored out of my mind so opted for a shopping trip to B&Q instead. Unheard of! When I came back my daughter told me she had paused the game so that I could still watch it (she's going through those difficult teenage years) . So I decided to watch it but at X6 and at this speed it was more like watching the United of old. So if LVG pulls out the biggest upset since Leicester won the league and manages to keep his job, I know how to whatch matches next year.

Quality post. I think there are a few of us who now consider alternative things to do if UTD are playing. I went for a bike ride then streamed part of the match when I got it. I turned it off and did some Nebosh revision.

2.) 08 May 2016 14:15:47
I have specially bought recorder to watch matches when I can't make it to live watch. But I have stopped recording them. Because watching at *6 speed is remind u something.

3.) 08 May 2016 14:53:24
I try to bypass them by watching at x30.

4.) 08 May 2016 15:32:11
Class Rodio. Who needs the narrative, haha.

Can we believe that watching England is now more entertaining than watching our club.

Fair play lads. Great support for your club.

Let me start by saying I thought the appointment of LVG was the right decision at the time and after Moyes we needed a strong personality to steer the team through stormy waters, which to a degree he has done, although it looks like another storm lies ahead. United is a monster of a club and managing it is a more pressurised task than almost any other club in the world so a strong personality at the helm was and is essential. However, the more I see of LVG the more I’m inclined to think that the modern game has not only caught up with his philosophy it has left it behind. I think the same came be said of managing the modern day player. Things just aren’t clicking into place on the pitch and by now they should be. When one ex pro slates performance after performance you can put it down to a possible past grievance with the club or manager but when they’re all saying the same thing, you have to listen right?
It seems to me that any success LVG has had in the past was achieved relatively quickly but his ability to sustain success and harmony within a club has been arguable at best. Success is not being achieved quickly at United, there doesn’t appear to be much harmony and we know for sure he’s not here for the long term. At most he has 18 months left before he retires so clearly he is not the long term solution for our great club. Ancelotti is available now and Pep is possibly available in the summer. Two outstanding managers with (recent) proven success at equally monstrous clubs and both experienced in managing the modern day footballer. We’ve missed out on Klopp, do we really want to risk losing out on one of these top, top managers for the sake of 1 more year of LVG? Even more frightening, do we really want to see one or both of these managers at another EPL club? The big question for me is do we sack LVG now and get Ancelotti tomorrow, wait until the summer and go all out for Pep, or stick with LVG and trust that his philosophy will come good? Your thoughts appreciated.

1.) 09 Dec 2015 12:48:35
Ancelotti or Jose now. Both will turn our multi talented squad into world beaters with the addition of a CB a RW and a ST. No more signings for LVG the fossil 😆😆.

2.) 09 Dec 2015 12:59:38
Great post Unitedred - like you I thought it was a shrewd appointment at the time, digging deeper (which Woody should have) and watching the first 10 games I knew we had made a booboo.

We need to be ruthless, this guy is not even likeable so the only problem I envisage is that he has ticked all the boxes the board have set him. In saying that 18months compensation is not much and frankly there is no mitigating the actual performances.

If LVG was 10 years younger I could understand maybe giving him a bit more time, but it makes zero sense to do so now with a short term weirdo.

3.) 09 Dec 2015 13:23:17
I agree with Beast, he should see out the season now but they really need to be looking for a new manager and move quickly to get him in this summer, I think the pressure is getting to LVG now too, did anyone see him snapping at the camera crew last night?

4.) 09 Dec 2015 14:28:33
Unnecessary sales without buying replacements are ridiculous decision of LVG era. Clear out done but where is squad?
Now we are reading of seeing totally young side against Bournemouth. ? At this make or break time?

5.) 09 Dec 2015 14:42:44
I am on record that Woodward should already have been working on the next transition a long way prior to last night. He should know the position of Guardiola and we know Ancelotti is available at the moment. Woodward must not sit on his hands, he must grasp the situation, and have us ready for another change at the end of the season. My reason for the end of the season is because my preference this time is Guardiola, not just for what he would do for us but out of concern what he would do with City. An interim now is a high risk option because a higher profile manager would want the gig longer term so we could end up with more problems and an Insufficiently experienced manager.

When SAF left I felt we needed someone who had the stature, who believed he was big enough, that was Mourinho, when Moyes left, the club needed a lift and a long term strategy of attacking play, I felt that was Klopp. Now I say Guardiola, followed by Ancelotti and I think right now Mourinho should come back into the reckoning. Woodward has not exactly steered the ship through choppy waters, LVG must have been selected for a reason and the base style of play suits handing on to Pep.

Lastly Liverpool acted decisively, so if Woodward dithers in the name of loyalty then he also needs to have the same vote of no confidence many fans are giving the manager.

6.) 09 Dec 2015 15:00:04
Ancelotti is available to start NOW. Why wait till the end of the year?

7.) 09 Dec 2015 15:12:29
beast u keeping whining about lvg being appointed as utd manageer, tell me who else was available for us to sign other than lvg at that stage.

8.) 09 Dec 2015 15:25:48
I'm moaning that we stuck with him and were not decisive. When he signed I was excited but my knowledge of LVG was limited to the media puff pieces we often see, but that waned quickly - who knows who else was available? I know if I were in charge of finding a replacement I would have knocked on the right doors and offered the right terms, any half decent executive would.

It's not as if top managers don't get poached by other clubs. It's the same rubbish excuse that's used for why we didn't sign a striker or CB. We are Man Utd with almost unlimited funds and respect (evaporating fast), it doesn't help that we have a plum in charge of these things and a buffoon beneath him!

9.) 09 Dec 2015 16:11:53
can u tell me which these big managers are who got poached mid season recently. when meyes was sacked pep was in his first season with bayern, klopp as ed001 said was not interested, ancelloti had just won the la decima, mourinho was at chelsea, none of these were available, there is nothing woodward or any other executive of any other big club could have done to sign any of the above, and other than above lvg was the biggest guy available.

i agree with u we should replace van gaal with either ancelloti and pep, right now or next season as per who we can get from those two, and should not be waiting for things to get any worse to act as by then ancelloti could be heading to chelsea and pep at best remains at bayern or things go seriously bad for us and ends up at city, and we end up with another moyes situation.

10.) 09 Dec 2015 16:38:03
Who said anything about mid-season? But anyway, Klopp was just signed mid-season, Ancelotti is available mid season.

The Summer was the perfect time to sign a manager, a CB and an experienced striker. But because we are Man Utd apparently it's impossible to do that!

I love it how some fans (not necessarily saying you mate), say things like "no value in the market" and then in the next breath say "how do you know that the club didn't try". People want it both ways.

11.) 09 Dec 2015 17:04:56
O beast the irony of that last sentence.

12.) 09 Dec 2015 17:31:30
beast klopp did not have a job, that's not poaching. why do u think lvg would be sacked in summer, his job was get utd back in ucl he did that, u do not get sacked for doing what is required of u.
We could have signed a decent cb and did not, that is where lvg screwed up, about strikers, can u name these experienced strikers that we could have signed.

13.) 09 Dec 2015 19:44:27
i would of thought the idea of getting back into the champions league was meant to be for a bit longer not 3 home group games, the qtr and semi finals are worth the big bucks. now we will have a half empty ground in the europa league which i don't think the glaziers will be pleased with.

09 Dec 2015 09:59:27
I think it’s a bit harsh of everyone to say that LVG has not adapted to the modern game and no longer innovates. Some teams have started a trend of playing with a false 9 (a position that I had no idea existed until a couple of years ago) . Well LVG has now taken this one step further and last night played with a false 6 (Bastien – take a bow son)

2.) 09 Dec 2015 10:47:23
Schweinstiger is grossly overweight and has not added much to the United team this season in my opinion.

I think all of you guys have your heads in the clouds if you think Moyes is the right man for the job and all he needs is time. He is the wrong man for the job. Simple!

My concern with this approach (other than it being dreadful to watch), is that when you are in a league with only one team in contention for the title, parking the bus is a sensible and pragmatic approach with neither side extending their lead in the league. The problem now is that there are possibly 5 teams who play expansive football and could on their day beat us and finish above us in the league. If we go for parking the bus against all of these teams then we will likely lose 20 points and that allows the other teams to take advantage in the long run.

I want Mourinho to succeed and to be fair he's got the CV to back things up but why is he constantly so bloody miserable. He has a fantastic job, gets paid enormous amounts of money, good looking and well respected . No one wants you to become like that grinning goon over at the scouse but come on man cheer up!

The big question for me is, how come all of your posts Shappy end up on the banter page and yet others, just as interesting and insightful, end up in the backwaters and ne'er read pages of "other" posts. :-)
