I like the look of Embolo but we need some experience now, we've a team full of youth as it is. Think there's no interest in Draxler judging by the euro pages. Hoping for Mhkitarayan, another top CB and then can't decide on if we need a Krychowiak type or a Kroos type, not sure how Jose will set up.

As it stands we need an experienced centre back with papers quoting Bonucci as a target.
We need creativity more than anything in the midfield two. A holding player would be a luxury.
A right wing is an absolute must as the service from that side has been appalling all season.

So I don't really post here too often but I do lurk. And now I feel like I have some thoughts I want to share.
I think a lot of fans are getting to wound up about the transfers (or perceived lack )
I think we are going about business the right way now. We have brought in exciting young players to add to the squad, upgraded our defence.
We aren't being idiots with wages and paying silly money, as money ball hasn't worked for us in the past.
I think the Dybala thing, because he wanted a ton of money to play for us he's been told thanks but no thanks mate.
Maybe Ole has seen enough in Chong, Gomez and Greenwood to know that whist they might not be exactly ready now, its an idiotic move to spend 75 million on a player who in 18 months will be in the way of Greenwood whos going to a be a beast by all accounts.
As for Bruno, its strage that no one ( given his stats) hasn't made an effort to sign him. i wonder why .?
Any way just some thoughts, i think we are headding in the right directin and will take another year and 2 windows, but i like the new lack of scatter gun approach

We've bought in 3 players - one we overpaid for from the Championship, 2 we overpaid for in the Premier League. Forgive me for not patting the people in charge on the back. We had a terrible season and lost Herrera, likely to lose Lukaku and probably Pogba too. Things are a little bleak at the moment.

Bleak? Its football for gods sake. Bleak is living on universal credit with 3 kids and deciding what bill you pay out of the six on the table. Can we have perspective.
Look at the fees other clubs have been paying i wouldn't say we've overpaid at all.

Good post,
Whilst its admirable to have faith in our youngsters, we have to be cautious and not expect too much too soon.
A good pre season is what was needed. Our distinct lack of fitness last season was plain to see.
AWB, Maguire ( maybe I've been unfair on him) will make our defence stronger.
James, again a player with a lot of potential. He needs time.
Of course Lukaku and Pogba want to leave. We've played hardball over those two players. Lukaku seemingly is desperate to leave.
Of course we are linked with Llorente now. A last minute bid for Ericsson etc.
At least by the end of today we won't be buying anyone until next year.

So we have signing 2 defenders is now considered having great window.
We lost fellaini is jan, hererra is summer, pogba might very well leave by the end of aug, we are getting no one in but we are going in the right direction folks, i mean guardiola and klopp have nightmares of a midfield of the legendary duo of fred and matic and poor mctominay who is going to have to cover for those two.
The only player in the team who has shown that he can score 20+ goals in a season is being sold and replaced with no one, doesn't get more right direction than that does it, speaking of right, we have no right wingers and we have filled that hole by signing another of our umpteen left wingers, because when you need someone on the right the best choice is get a left winger, because that worked out really went the 500k tu
And ofcourse the utd way of giving youngsters a chance, because they will win it for us as they did when Hansen spouted that nonsense, its just that people seem to forget something, that team wasn't just filled with kids, it had Cantona, Irwin, Schmeichal and Keane all of whom were world class or nearly worldclass players. This team has 2 in DDG and Pogba, both of whom want to leave and the rest is crap. Kids can't do much unless the rest of team is good enough, however talented they maybe.
If we get no more signings, Ole will be sacked by feb at best, that chinless freak is already trying to cover his @$$ by leaking bs transfer news trying to show that he tried to sign players. And the merry go round will begin again next season where we still will not appoint a Sporting Director or Director of football, because we are going the right way folks.

Mort I figured you'd be able to tell I'm talking purely from a football perspective. I'm able to separate football from the rest of my life, are you? We've certainly overpaid for all 3 of our targets so far I don't think that is even up for debate. Our defence has improved but our midfield as gotten weaker and we are losing a lot of goals up front too. I love this club but I suspect things are going to get worse before they get better.

I expect if there is a shortfall in what we needed then the message will be that we are “building for the long term in line with the clubs DNA, with a manager who will work with the youth, who is fully supportive of the direction, will not overpay, whatever this years No value argument is†etc. Yes we have spent some money but can anyone see us succeed with that midfield, even worse if Pogba leaves or where goals will come from if Lukaku goes?
They can fool the fans with emotional claptrap at this time of year but if struggling in the season, again, there has to come a point where real change must happen at the club.

Where have we overpaid? 59 million is the going rate for full backs these days. Championship players are moving for 20 million these days. Cf Maupey. Granted we paid a bit much for Maguire but that's the market. Pay it or go elsewhere.

I have total faith in that the academy players will step up to the challenge next year.

A few in here have been touting belotti for a while. He has had a terrific season. I've not seen him play enough to give an objective view.
But arsenal had a bid rejected last year and there is interest from a few big clubs. So he is highly rated. The 100m fee still seems to be extortionate based on 1 stand out season.
Lukaku scores goals every season has some great attributes but has a lot of glaring defficiences for a 100m player
Morata has been less prolific but imo is a much better player all round than lukaku and from what I've seen of belotti. Reminds me of teddy sheringham with more pace
With regards to AG he is obviously a terrific player. If Jose signs him he will have a plan in how to use him.
If he thinks he can't pull off that plan and wants or needs a bustling centre forward instead then he would be right not to sign him.
It's not who he signs it's about getting the right players for the right positions to execute his plans.
There is a lot of talk about matic and fabhino for a cdm position both/ either make a lot of sense to me. Matuidi also linked but not really a cdm.
Rose at lb would be terrific as would mendy who appears to be city bound.
Lindelof at cb seems to be gathering pace. Keane also seems to be a target
I suspect that by 1st week july we will know more. Until then the story will change daily and there will be rumour upon counter rumour. I am confidant that we will see the right players come in.
It might not satisfy all The wish lists on here my own by much included but as long as Jose is happy when the window shuts I'll be happy.

Belotti looks a very good player imo had a good season but also scored 11 goals in the second half of the previous season .
Can do a bit of everything and at 23 could be the next big thing .
He looks a better player than lukaku to me and won't cost 100m .
Morata is off to A. C. milan.

Not seen an awful lot of him but he Has been hot for quite a while. I'm not convinced about Italians I the epl they are not always the best at settling into the surroundings. ( not a fact on all players or a slight on belotti)
I'm sure he will go for less than that release clause quoted of €100m as will lukaku but still be 50m plus is imagine.
If we signed a left sided player jred you might get your wish of rash and martial sharing the striker role. Would you be happy with that going into next season?

Nothing has changed I would like a player that can interchange, would of loved griezmann last season instead of ibra and this season now ibra is out the picture .
Belotti can also play more than one role, belotti (or that type of player) martial miki rash plus linders and co would be fine imo.
Martial and rash where never going to get a look in with ibra, if fit he was always going to start.
A griezmann belotti or a player in a similar mould gives the attack a lot of options and wouldn't detriment rash and martial imo .

I've got to disagree jred. We have plenty of forward players who can interchange, but no real strikers now Ibra is out. Brig in lukaku or Morata for me. I have no idea about Belotti, but if Jose signs him I'm sure he's the real deal.

I think the pogba deal as big as it is and as stupid as it looks is a great deal long term with a caveat, if pogba develops as he is expected and becomes the player some people think he will then we have got a great deal long term, we have the marketability of the play and shirt sales not to mention how player prices are inflating we coukd potentially sell him. for more than the original purchase price, and even if we have to sell at a loss (which I doubt) I think. its worth it for the titles he will win for United.

pogaba has won many title learning his trade along great midfielders like pirlo and vidal players of scholes and keane standard and the coaches at juv beleave pogba is the best cm in italy all this talk of potential is ridiculous jose is not in the habbit of buying for the future never has been he buys for the here and now that's why i think bailey is probably more ready than he is saying and we beleave pogba is not potential he is the complete package.

When I think of Kroos I think fur coat but no knickers. He looks lovely but scratch the surface and there isn't a lot there. He looks worried his hair might get ruffled.

Its Woodward not backing the manager and I don't mean financially I mean backing him .
Do you honestly think that Jose didn't go to Ed and say we need to get rid of this Root Pogba, he's a virus …. And Ed thought about it for all of 2 seconds and said nah we need the commercial asset to be making money . so deal with it.
Ole will always have the backing of us fans its the players who should feel our wrath, some of them have just signed to get the big bucks and celebrity that comes with playing for our club.
I know I'm 100pct behind Ole he needs 2 seasons at least and we need to accept the mess we are in and jump on board and let him work with our full support until he weeds out the dead wood and replaces it with true players.
