My friend met an assistant to Mendes in Mayfair on the weekend and he said that the Ronaldo deal is nearing the end of the pipeline, it's not certain but it's getting very close. Apparently its a complicated deal, but he'll be on £350K a week! I'm skeptical as like everyone else about this but my friend is a die hard red and moves in these circles - I would have to say there is a lot of truth and hope in this.

Marca are reporting he's on the verge on agreeing an extension to 2018 at Madrid. They are usually correct when it comes to Real Madrid.

2.) 05 Aug 2013
Ronaldo will sign an extension and get paid around £670k week.

Ah yes, that's true actually. Do you mean when Marca reported Madrid were going to bid for Cesc in 2010 and when Tevez said Yes to Madrid in 2009? Or when they recently reported Aguero will be a Madrid player next season? They're definitely usually correct when it comes to Real Madrid. Good point, well argued.

Rather take Fabregas, Fellaini, Baines for 80m

5.) 05 Aug 2013
Sydney, I don't care how rich eal are, they can't afford to sign Bale and pay that out for Ronaldo.

£670K per week that's £35m a year Syd, there's no way they would pay him that

If what syd says is true I presume a lot of that money is from image rights and sponsors etc.

Any player that plays for Madrid must give up 50% of their endorsements to the club.

Spain's tax has risen to 50%, in Barcelona it's as high as £55% but that isn't relevant here. Ronaldo wants £17.4m (net), that's after tax. So before tax RM will need to pay him £35m for him to receive £17.4m. £35m equates to roughly £670k a week.

Sydney you are just reporting the dribble written in various newspapers. There is zero evidence to any of it and I recommend we wait and see as there is a lot more to this.

For those of you who might be interested I have an old harvard business school case study on Madrid and their business model and we had their president back in 2007 on a live video conference which was interesting but they will not be paying that sort of money even for real Madrid.

Maybe 300k a week before tax.

Shahram, Ronaldo wants €20m net. That is no secret. I'm not basing that on any newspaper. I am basing it on what Ramon Calderon and Graham H. have said.

If he gets 300k a week he'll end up roughly with what he's getting now no? wasn't he only paying 25% tax on his current contract? and it changes to 50 on his next one? wasn't that what this whole thing was about? the best possible deal he could get himself! Like I said yesterday Madrid will give him what he wants and he'll sign a new deal!

Flash.

A bit of name dropping there Sharahm :-) Harvard business school! i'd be interested to learn a little more.

Real Madrid are killing this window now, their ridiculous valuations of what they are prepared to pay scew the whole market ( if he's worth that then he's worth this) and their arrogance winds me up 100mph. Isn't FFP meant to start this season and where's Platinni? He's be going Ape if the English clubs were doing what Real, Barca, PSG and Monaco are doing.

No name dropping just the truth. It basically shows how they changed their business model and how they generate the income they do. People are quick to quote figures here but in reality it is not as simple as everyone thinks. The Ronaldo stuff is not about wages and there is more to it namely imaging rights, which is the hold up and goes against their business model. Just think Tiger woods and look at his earnings as a golfer and his earnings on the sponsorship front.

If the eds allow it I will go dig in out some old folders and attach it. It is quite an interesting read.

Ronaldo Lover

He's only looking for more money. Every United fan needs to forget about this, it won't happen (at least not this summer) deal with it.
