Rumours on a couple of Fanzine's that we have agreed a £27 million deal for Luke Shaw. Don't know how accurate this is but the press seem to think that we are confident of signing him and these Fanzine's tend to be fairly accurate.

I truly hope that the price being quoted around is not true!
that is a crazy amount to be paying.
it worries me that we just seem to be throwing money around and willing to offer silly wages to people just so they stay or sign.

No doubt its a lot of money for an 18year old, however he has shown and continues to show that he has every chance of been one of if not the best left backs in Europe in the next couple of years. We could easily go through 27 million over the next 3-4 years buying other options that end up not cutting it or we could just take the plunge now and likely fill a position for the next 10-12 years.

Some said £29million was a lot to pay for young Rio Ferdinand when we signed him. You want class, you have to pay for it.

Bit of a difference with that as the players were at different levels.
Rio had captained and played a vital role for West Ham before moving to Leeds. He then grew in stature there and became captain a few times. He was constantly at the high level.
I think Shaw is a good player don't get me wrong but with that sort of price, there's a class difference with the past players we have purchased for that amount. Rio, Berba, Veron, Mata.

As long as we get the right players I don't think we should worry about the fee. The club will spend that if they can afford it - he is going to be in the top 3 left backs in the world before long.

We could get 20 years service from him. For £1.35 mill a year plus wages that sounds like good value.

Luke Shaw will be off to Chelsea, London boy, Ex Chelsea schoolboy, Chelsea fan and his family are Chelsea season ticket holders, sorry to burst you bubble!
