So the politics of the De Gea deal are coming through now.
I remember a Spanish based journo saying that Ramos would leave Real, but They will have to make it look like he wanted out, that he refused to play etc etc. That way the fans start to turn on him and "its best if he leaves".
Basically I believe this is what is happeneing now, LVG saying De Gea has asked not to play. I can understand this, but because there are reports of De Gea being "baffled" by this claim, it looks as though MUFC are trying to make it less painful for fans.
We apparently stood firm when we thought we could get a player in return, but now that maybe off the cards, we seem to be lining it up to let him leave because he has asked to.

It can't really be less painful, all the fans have known he was leaving for months.
I think its Real pay the fee or he will be sat on the bench next season.
I don't think he will be #1 if he stays, may even drop to #3.

Sambastin, I think we are going to keep him her for the rest of the season just to teach him a lesson. He will play after the window closes but the first team spot may no longer be his and he will leave in summer. I think LVG's comments are there to show why he is not picking him but also to remind fans that the club is too big to be bullied. Talking about his training attitude is probably just his way of trying to give DDG a kick up the bum and to kick on.

that might be true yes but hey what the hell if he wants to leave he must leave i'm sure there's more then enough players that can replace him. at da moment its a win win for madrid . get him now good. get him next season for free even better. so for me if we can get atleast wot we payed for him. goodbye david

I just think we played a bad hand in our game of poker with Real Madrid. If we had just said £25m and he is yours, instead we priced DDG out of the move in a "we won't be bullied" but it looks like it might backfire on us now.
I have totally accepted that he will leave, that isn't the issue. I think I get more wound up that Real Madrid ALWAYS get their own way. Always!

I've long said that he should be made an example of. It's well worth losing the potential £25m in dropping him for a season. It's a complete farce. I felt the same with Rooney.
NO ONE SHOULD HOLD MANCHESTER UNITED TO RANSOM, AND NO PLAYER IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB!!.
It an utter shambles, and Real in particular have took us for a ride long enough. I'm loving it that we are standing up for ourselves against Real. You don't see teams like Bayern getting bullied by these boys do you. We are Manchester United, the most decorated team in the premiership, where the most financial interest is, and always will be. Our league is the hardest in world football, don't forget that.
If we don't get WHAT WE WANT AS A CLUB, then it's quite simple. And it's a great sign (Albeit a small gesture) from the Glazers and the board that we are a powerhouse and this scenario will no longer be tolerated.

If possible I'd keep DDG and buy Lloris/Cillesen anyway!!! Now that would send a message!!! (Obviously why I am not on the board 😉😂)

Playing devil's advocate guys - we would happily have Bale or whoever if we could.

Real are obviously playing hard ball. Ok, let them, but we must play hard ball back. Do we want DDG to go? I guess most people's answer would be a resounding no as he was our best player last year, no doubt in my mind.

Maybe the answer is to make everyone stay until the end of their contracts, and then see if you can sign them. This constant transfer of players is only making money for them and their agents, and to make it worse, it's our money their getting (tickets/shirt sales etc. etc.)It makes me more convinced that money is spoiling the game. But then again, without these transfers, would we have anything to talk/argue/speculate about??

Just my tuppence worth.

The fact is DDG bottled it for a PSG goal worried about injury when he could have cleaned everyone out including Jones, don't play him and bide your time

If it's true and we have the money to get a new first choice goalkeeper then buy one and let De Gea rot in the reserves? Sounds harsh, but to a certain extent, he's brought this all on himself and Real have made things worse by not coming up with the money! Let him go for free next season!

DDG is a money grabbing little runt who in conjunction with RM are tring to line their own pockets , hw will sign a pre contract with RM in Jan and I don't want any player staying at man united that is committed to another club. Sell him last minute but sell him or his negatiity will spread through the squad as quick as one of the Beasts posts.
When vidic as our captain signed for Inter he should have been sent on gardening leave the next day. I have said it before you are either red or you're dead imo. He is worse than di maria and is causing twice as much damage to morale. I hope the Madrid fans turn on him after a few mistakes then he will realise he was in the right place all along. At least here he doesn't have to listen to his girlfriends shite singing

I agree with a lot of posts saying to keep him, i wouldn't give in for peanuts just to get him out because of morale.
He will go to the reserves if he stays and won't play at the Euros as he won't have had any match practice.
If LVG wanted to he could help ruin De Gea at this point, he maybe would not return to the form with a year on the sidelines, and Real might see that and go elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure the money men will make the final decision on DDG rather than LVG. I personally take the stories with a pinch of salt, he wants to move but is being used as a pawn in financial negotiations between the two clubs so of course his head isn't right. If he was a "money grabbing so and so" (beyond any normal footballer!), surely he'd have signed a new deal with us a year or two ago?

I'm pretty sure they got a fortune from selling us Di Maria and he was rubbish, so sod em, let's overfeed De Gea and get him fat and let him sweat it off in Madrid, it's time we stop feeling inferior and just rolling over when they want our best players, Real Madrid need knocking off their perch!

{Ed030's Note - I agree, and don't think it's fair how Madrid are able to use underhanded tricks to help sign a player. However with De Gea being Spanish and the possibility of moving home to a club like Madrid I can definitely see the appeal for him. }
