Well if last night proves anaything it vindicates what most people have been saying on here: the squad is too thin.

I feel so sorry for Shaw who looked set to have a fantastic season. We now face a dilemma, Blind has to stay at centre back unless Jones can play and then Rojo moves to left back for the season. Or Darmian moves across to left back and Valencia comes in. I personally go for the first option. But we already look a bit thin.

Martial and Memphis have a good understanding but we still miss a striker. Our best line up will be Memphis, Rooney and Mata/Young behind Martial but that isn't exactly a title or CL winning front 4.

Very glum this morning.

Try to stop feeling glum. I thought last nights performance was very encouraging. Obviously the injury to Shaw is a real shame but in an att sense I thought we looked good. Memphis and Martial are just lacking that extra bit of experience, when it arrives though, what an att force we will be. Mata SHOULD have scored or either squared the pass for Memphis. 2-2 on the night would have been the least we deserved. PSVs two goals are unfortunate. The first takes a massive deflection and the second happens because of adjustments that had to be made at LCB and LB.

I think we look set for a good season. I agree with you that Blind has to stay at CB, perhaps Rojo will play there as he has done for Argentina. Young can also do a job at LB.

I'd suspect Rojo will now be the permanent left back. We are now only left with Jones and McNair as back up defenders, heaven forbid we get more injuries at the back.

I love our central midfield options.

I just hope and pray that Rooney turns his form around consistently. I'd play him over Mata. A winning formula would be Young, Rooney and Memphis behind Martial with Wilson and Pereira getting game time as well.

Let's see what LVG does, I doubt it will be what anyone expects. We will probably have Romero holding the midfield and Herrera as a right winger or something ridiculous.
