Reports coming out of the Portuguese press today that Mourinho has actually signed to take over in the summer.

I hope it's true, but it's probably BS as normal.

Ed002 has said on the European pages that he has not signed yet and has options. So the reports are probably nonsense.

Also, from the Liverpool page, we have ramped up our interest in Braga's winger Rafa Silva.

{Ed004's Note - Saw that today. Anyone ever seen Rafa silva play}

Once, seems quick and skillful but like many wingers, frustrating I think.

As for Mourinho, I hope this is true. I think LVG knows it will happen, saying that even winning the FA Cup may not save him.

I really don't want LVG in charge next season, but I'd rather him than Mourinho.

They both favour boring styles, but at least LVG is doing a good job bringing through youngsters, something Mourinho is not really known for. I think that is worth another season fighting for 3rd or 4th rather than 1st.

Hopefully LVG's successor (whether this year or next) will be someone who matches the club's values, like exciting attacking football and youth.

Yet the dutch idiot took a young player of after giving a dubious penalty away instead of sticking by the lad who as been great when called upon as probably made him look a fool by saying its you're fault the quicker he's gone the better.

Well said dazw, Thorne, JM plays attacking football, but you would rather keep LVG, who plays boaring football which MU, are not about just don't get it pal.
We need the fergie days back and I do believe that JM can bring those days back. We gave LVG his chance and he can't deliver. I do believe that JM can deliver and will deliver them days back to us.
JM, is the right man for the job, just wish the board see that.

Surely it is not just between either Mourinho or LVG. As much as I want to see trophies, I am far from convince that Mourinho is the solution specially for Manchester United. There is reason why Barcelona had stayed away from him.

Plus if glazers are looking to sell the club. That has huge factor in terms of managerial position.

For me the next manager should have 2 characters.
One to bring youth up.
And give confident to current players.

Lastly it is interesting what Pique said on trainings, SAF wasn't hands on. But rather from outside controlling everything. That is because of the huge size and task of the club.
The club the size of ours needs Sporting Director. Without it, I think it will be huge task for whoever comes (even the best) . It will give longevity of success and continuations of clubs ethos.

I think a lot of folk on here are going to be disappointed.

I'm still of the opinion van gaal will see out his contract.

LVG has not been all bad. He has brought youth in and looking at the young players we have things are looking good for the future. The style of play is the issue. If LVG became director of football and carried on his good work with the youth system with JM in as manager I for one would'nt complain.

The youth system has nothing to do with LVG. When you have 16 injuries and squad that was thinned out you are forced to play younger players. The fact that they have done so well speaks for the coaches and people who are involved at the youth system and not LVG.

As they say they had to be played and some have taken their opportunity and shone and other have not. Good enough to play no matter what wage you get selected.

Would never want him as Director of football and want him gone and as far away from the club as possible.

If that's true I stand corrected. I can only go on reports of who does what that you hear about. We'll have to wait and see and hope they know what they're doing.

Sweetcheeks - Mourinho is well known for a disciplined, defensive brand of counter-attacking football. He most certainly does NOT play attacking football, and his style of football is just as boring as LVG's cautious football.

So with a choice between boring football and youngsters brought through, or boring football with youngsters barely getting a chance, I'd stick with LVG.

In an ideal world, of course, LVG would go and we'd get someone who plays attacking football and brings through youth. I haven't been following football outside England much for the last year or two, but there must be someone suitable out there.

Replacing LVG's boring football with Mourinho's boring football would be a massive mistake IMO, and one which we fans will regret all the more because we were the ones asking for it.
