Just asking on peoples thoughts after reading Ed002 comment on euro pages regarding Martial potentially leaving if an acceptable offer comes in- which other player if they left would be a surprise? I reckon Mata could be shifted for the right money.

I've just read Mata's press release about Common Goal (if you haven't read it yet, do so, it's very good) .

He loves the club. He's a great little player who isn't throwing his toys out of the pram if he doesn't start every game. We need people like him in the squad, hebrings an extra level of intelligence to the pitch which we are sometimes missing.

Hi Cookyman. I can't seem to find that post. Can you copy and paste for us?

I think there are players we could potentially sign or currently have who are more consistent than Martial. However, I would not like to see him go.

For me he has more potential than Rashford but is more frustrating. He is someone who will either been seen as one of the best on the planet in a couple of years or he will be playing for a mid table side doing the odd brilliant thing followed by 6 weeks of underperformance. The left wing position is up for grabs and for me he should start against West Ham there.

Mata is a different case. Fantastic player but probably isn't first choice in any position regardless of what system we play. Great player to have in the squad who is likely to make a contribution but if we see a £20 m plus offer I can see him leaving.

No worries cookyman. I found it, I didn't look at SERIE A page.

Must say I am extremely surprised because going back a little, I'm sure ed said they paid heavily for him and wanted to keep him. Is that correct ed002? I wonder what has happened that they'd be happy to sell him.

I think he is a good talent that can be very good, I think it would be a shame for him to be sold.

{Ed002's Note - MU over paid for Martial by a long, long way. Inter are interested and there may be mileage in using him in discussions about Perisic.}

Sorry Angel just got back online (at work) atm or I wouldve but see youve managed.
Mata does seem to be a genuine good guy and team mates and fans alike, seem to adore the guy, I just think and it really is my opinion, that he could be sacrificed if a good offer comes in as he was let go by chelsea and although a cracking player, not sure he fits the JM profile, ie. not fast, not great at tracking back and not 6'4". lol.

If mourinho sells martial to get perisic, i am done with mourinho, for once he needs to develop inconsistent talent and actually do some youth development rather than giving us a fictional list of players he gave debuts to. This will be a transfer akin to fellaini's, wherein the player will be treated for what he symbolises than what he actually brings to the table.

Just out of curiosity CSM, would you be interested in Bale if we get a chance to sign him?

look below shan, i am all for bale at the right price but not at martial's cost.

thanks ed002. Jose must not be convinced. Yes we overpaid for sure, same old story.

{Ed002's Note - He was interested in him at Chelsea s padding for £20M.}

Since taking over jm has sold depay, rooney and ibra and only purchased lukaku. He speaks about balance and i can see why he wants 1 more wide attacking player. Giving 1 away to accomodate that deal would still leave us short. That is why martial should stay and i think he will have a muxh better season this year too
The other issue we have is that due to long term injury and the euro suspensions of baily and jones we are unable/ relucant to shift a couple of players on.

United overpaid for Martial by a long, long way in a world where Kyle Walker is worth 50m? Really?

{Ed002's Note - Yes they did and it is nothing to do with Kyle Walker at all. What a stupid comment.}

12.) 04 Aug 2017
04 Aug 2017 23:19:15
Actually it's not a stupid comment, we paid the current going rate for one of the best young talents in Europe .

{Ed025's Note - it was not the current going rate at that time bilko, it was miles over the top mate..

13.) 04 Aug 2017
04 Aug 2017 23:22:03
I think wee did over pay but i don't want him to leave but unfortunately i don't think we will see more of him this season than we did last season if he stays especially if we sign another wide player. Just a hunch.

14.) 05 Aug 2017
05 Aug 2017 05:22:10
So you want Bale and then where do you play Martial? In all honesty, if we are going after a winger, I don't see where Martial fits in. You have Rashford and Lingard and Mkhitaryan above Martial in the playing order already. I think a loan to Inter would do him no harm at all.

15.) 05 Aug 2017
05 Aug 2017 07:44:52
shan i would get rid of lingard, he is everything that is wrong with english football right now, 100k per week for a player who won't start for any of the top 6-7 teams in the league. Bale/ griezmann, lukaku, martial and rashford alternating, as the front 3 with mkhi/ mata behind them for most of our games, everyone would get enough games.

Agree with the Eds. United overpaid for Martial 2 years back.
Although City have overpaid for Walker, but at least he is one of the best RBs in the Premier League.
Martial isn't even close to being in the top 25 players in the Premier League in any attacking position.
And City paying more for Walker doesn't justify us paying more for Martial.

{Ed025's Note - the thing with walker is that he is the finished article zaid whether you rate him or not, martial was bought as potential and has yet to live up to expectations so for me the price paid was well over the top mate..

17.) 05 Aug 2017
05 Aug 2017 09:29:33
CSM I get your point but Martial still doesn't get the game time. He would still be behind Rashford and Mkhitaryan and the new winger.

18.) 05 Aug 2017
05 Aug 2017 10:24:34
Shan for me martial should be ahead of rashford, but any which way I think he will get decent game time. We will play around 55-60 games should be enough to rotate the squad. Also mkhi will play no 10 in most games I think it will be a 2 man mf in many games so it will give rash and martial good game time.

19.) 05 Aug 2017
05 Aug 2017 11:52:39
Martial won't start 20 games if we sign smother wide player csm imo. Better to loan him and get back a better player in a years time imo.

20.) 05 Aug 2017
05 Aug 2017 14:40:25
Martial is a true world class player in the making I think we will see a different player to last season (he had off field problems with his woman happens to every man at some point) and looks a snip at the price compared to players of his quilitys in this inflated market I think a lot will be left with humble pie by him this season, loaning him out is not in Joses plans neither is selling him he had already stated he has a big part to play this season.

Describing Lingard as everything that is wrong with English football right now is probably the stupidest comment I've ever read on the internet. Wow.

That comment there CSM sums ups everything that is wrong with the so called 'united' fans. Especially the ones on this site.

why is that angel, lingard is an average player who isn't good enough to be at utd. He won't be starting for any of the top 7-8 teams, yet he earns 100k for doing it. Now i am not one of those guys who think footballers should not be paid big wages or anything but if someone like isco who if blindfolded and had a leg tied up will still have more footballing ability than lingard earns half of what lingard earns, there is something seriously wrong.
