Hey ed002/ all
Hope everybody is good. ed002 if you are about and get a chance to reply, just wondering is there any update on what positions united will look to fill in the summer and who they might be looking at? thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - The expectation is that will need a RB, CB, AM, RW. The players they have been looking at remain unchanged as far as I know but you could strike some from the list given previously, like Lucas Paqueta and Ozan Kabak. Other than that the options remain the same, many of which were JM targets. They would also need to replace any players unexpectedly leaving and take a look at the younger players and decide if they are up to it or not.}

Ed002, do you expect there will be many players leaving in the summer?

{Ed002's Note - From the first team squad, certainly a few. Obviously the club has identified some who wanted out who have signed new contracts (e.g. Jones) and will call time on some out of contract (e.g. Valencia. They need to decide what to do about others, some want out (e.g. Pogba) and some are not going to move easily (e.g. Sanchez).}

Thanks Ed, is there anybody looking at Sanchez?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Thank you Ed002.
Is there any truth linking us to Benfica duo Joao Felix and Ruben Dias.

Also, will United face completion for Alderweirald considering he will be available cheaply this summer?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, both players have been of interest to Manchester United since last summer - the are Mr Mourinho targets. Right now I don't see Alderweireld moving in the summer unless something changes - and not to MU.}

does pogba still want out or is he getting influenced by his agent.

lets hope his form continues and we get the best price possible to replace.

{Ed002's Note - Try searching.}

Very interesting thanks for the update ed. Apologies if you have mentioned it before but which rbs are we interested in?

{Ed002's Note - Florenzi was the player Jose Mourinho had scouted but I doubt he would be interested in the move after he declared that Dalot was up to stepping up.}

When it comes to younger players ed002, is there any idea who the club has in line to make the step up to the senior team next year?

{Ed002's Note - I don't know I am afraid.}

Ed002 you mention jones above as someone who wanted out.
I don't understand giving him a new contract then is it because the club wanted him to stay or because they can now look for a higher fee.
He is not really 1st choice so it seemed an odd move to extend his contract.

{Ed002's Note - It is to do with playing time - a club give commitments players will sign.}

I agree ken. The only reason I can see us resigning Jones is so that we don’t lose an asset for nothing. It may be a way of making sure he doesn’t walk out for nothing. Just my thoughts.

I don't understand how our club just doesn't let players leave who are not good enough. They let Pogba go for free but won't let Jones and Smalling move to free up the wages. No one is going to buy them unless they are free agents.
If we just look at City, we can see how swiftly they move players on who are not good anymore. If we had Yaya and Nasri instead of City then they would still be at our club.

Sailor I think at the end of the day we have to acknowledge that the club is a business. And we are run to businessman (unfortunately) . But I agree if it was my choice I would let him and others leave for free.

Didn't mangala just sign a new contract?

{Ed001's Note - it was a 1 year option they took up, not a new contract as such.}

Wow i don't know what commitment the club could give jones on playing time. Is that not dependant on form and the form if others?
Excuse my ignorance ed but if the club fail to meet those commitments does that mean breach of contract or perhaps trigger a clause of any kind?
Just wondering as i can't see how a player of Jones's standing within the squad could command guaranteed game time.
There should be a clause in his on him being fit and available😂.

Morning Ed001/ Ed002,

Thanks as always for all detailed info.

Please forgive my ignorance/ naivety here, but, if a player is out injured for a long time, do the club claim it back through insurance or do they just have to suck it up and keep paying the basic wage? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It depends. Clubs rarely make insurance claims on players for injuries unless they are career ending or very lengthy. Many players are under insured because of the costs and many players are not insured at all.}

Can someone please link me to where this stuff is about Pogba wanting to leave? I have tried searching but can’t find it. Just cannot work out why he would want to leave? Fans love him. He’s a main, if not THE main player. Etc.

{Ed002's Note - Search on Pogba.}
