Ed002 do you have any thoughts/ comments on the rumours that Paul Pogba has already or is gong to renew his contract at Manchester United?

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing of such rumours but his options are not good and Manchester United have no so far been open to taking players in part exchange.}

I would be quite happy to see the back of Pogba but if there are no takers what can we do? We should be looking for the best possible deal and if that involves a player from one of the interested clubs than so be it, but it should be on our terms.

I don't think the fee for Pogba would be much more than we paid for him. Considering Madrid may break the transfer record this summer and Juventus will probably off load a few of their 800 central midfielders they own, 80 million isn't a lot for Pogba. They obviously don't have him that high on their wishlist and I don't blame them. His talent isn't good enough to warrant all the B. S. that comes with him.

{Ed002's Note - Generally I agree, but the last three years he has not shown himself to be an £80M player when compared to the likes of Fabian Ruiz or Saul who would command a similar fee - or indeed the likes of Frenkie de Jong who would cost less.}

We're not the best at negotionating deals for players, but if Pogba wants to go up a level and join Juventus or Madrid, then I don't think we should be bullied over the price.

As you said ed, his form over the last few years hasn't warranted the price tag we would want. But he can't have his cake and eat it too. Can't take the piss, dropping in and out of the team, nigly injuries that keep him out longer than Andre Gomes and still expect to get his dream move at a cut price.

He needs to go, but we need to draw a line in the sand the way every other club does when we try and buy someone.

If we can't get the money we want them we should at least be creative and look at their players that would be willing to make the move to us.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United have shown they are not willing to draw a line across to date.}

Personally I think around 60m is probably fair for a player who we over paid for initially and who hasn't performed often enough. Add in to it that he will have one year left on his contact in the summer then 60m seems about right.

That said I can't see the club being prepared to take a loss on him. However, letting him leave on a free would look worse.

Id love to see a list of players that we have sold for a profit in the last 30 years. I wouldn't say it's particularly long.

Ed is there anyone off the top of your head that would improve us and would be open to joining in a part exchange?

{Ed002's Note - Dybala.}

Mumbles, I don't think we are a side that looks to turn a profit from players. We tend to either sign young promising players (often for inflated fees) who either fulfil their potential and stay with us until they are over 30, and their value has dropped, or they don't live up to the expectation. other than that we tend to sign top players in their prime.

Either way the value the have to us is out on the pitch, we but to get the best out of them, then sell when they are over their peak and declining.

Other clubs that need to make money on player sales in order to stay a float operate in a different way to us.

Ed002, I though Dybala was happy now at Juventus and wants to stay?

I'm not disagreeing with you Shappy and i'd imagine that's exactly the line the club would want out there. The fact remains that Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern, Liverpool, Chelsea and City all get very good money for their players.

Now the argument that we sell players when they're over the hill or in decline isn't a valid one. I personally think we have a history of keeping players on well after they've started to decline.

Look at any of those clubs listed above, they nearly always make off like bandits with their players that are surplus to requirements.

We fall way behind the top clubs in regards to our transfer dealings.

Another saga awaits us then whenever the transfer window opens (God knows when that will be) . There will be nothing but rumours, counter rumours and fake quotes. I'll take my info from Ed002 and leave it at that. Just hope they can all work the situation out for everyone's benefit.

Pjanic would be my pick.

The club have only two options.

Option 1, sell him this summer for whatever they can get for him. Be that straight cash or a player + cash deal.

Option 2, keep him for the final year of his contract and let him leave on a free next summer.

So the only question that they should be asking themselves is whether one year of Pogba's services are worth more than the best offer they receive this summer.

There's an option for a further year. Contract up until 2022 if we want. Not that activating that year extension would be smart but his length left shouldn't be used against us. Though holding a player against their will isn't the greatest welcoming mat for future players.

Or maybe he shows just what a great player he can be with greater quality around him. Bruno Fernandes possibly Sancho/ Grealish added to the growing influence of Rashford and martial and the future of this team looks very bright. If we add consistency to our game we may see a title challenge.

I think everyone skipped over what you replied ed002. I would take dybala in a straight swap if he was willing to join. Was he close to joining last season, I think we had talks with juventus about him.

{Ed002's Note - Right now he is getting on with the coach but I cannot see he would be interested.}

Hey Ed002,

Thanks for your input as usual.
Did you tease that Frenkie de Jong is available this summer?
{Ed002's Note - Generally I agree, but the last three years he has not shown himself to be an £80M player when compared to the likes of Fabian Ruiz or Saul who would command a similar fee - or indeed the likes of Frenkie de Jong who would cost less. }
If so is United aware of it and possibly interested?
Thanks for clarifying this.

{Ed002's Note - I didn’t say he is available.}

Pogba has consistently shown that he just doesn't get it. Fernandez came into the same squad that Pogba has been part of for years and instantly transformed the team because he applied his talent and inspired others to up their game.

Pogba has probably about the same talent but he doesn't have the right mental attitude to be a good footballer. So what we see is what he is; actually a pretty crap footballer because he is always ineffective despite his talent because he doesn't know how to apply it.

The comparison and contrast between Fernandes and Pogba is really helpful because it clearly highlights how rubbish Pogba is. If the club can get £40 million for him with a year left on his contract, plus get his wages of the books then they should jump at the chance.

So he has the best stats every season overall since he's been at the club excluding this season which he hasn't played much. But he's the one you would want to get out of the club.

He makes the pfa team wins the Europa league player of the tournament and scores in the final but he's the one you would rather get rid of.

It's my opinion but I see him signing a new contract at Utd.
