Do any of the Eds have further info on potential outgoings at United?

Jones, Lingard, Pereira, Mata - all limited first team opportunities ideally.

Smalling, Rojos, Sanchez - all currently loaned out with presumably a preference they don't return.

Suspect from that list:
Jones stays as we unfathomably renewed his contract.
Lingard actively looking to leave, possibly to Italy.
Pereira stays as nobody else can believe he's a premier league footballer.
Mata may return to Spain.
Smalling seemingly content at Roma and we will sell him. Can think of worse places to live and work.
Rojos we will struggle to get shut of.
Sanchez will continue to bleed us dry on £400k pw regardless.

In fairness to Sanchez I liken his situation to Bale at Madrid. If clubs are dumb enough to pay such ludicrous £20m+ a year salaries then he's smart enough to sign up regardless if playing.

Any insight as always would be welcome. I well imagine we need to trim the wage bill and overall squad size irrespective of any new signings.

{Ed002's Note - The club is still taking stock of what to do so this is likely out of date:

Diogo Dalot (RB) at the price a potentially viable solution for Spurs but MU could price him out of a move. So I think he will likely stay.
Chris Smalling (CB) The amateurs need to drop the asking price and a move to Roma can go ahead.
Nemanja Matic (DM) new contract so he stays.
Marcos Rojo (LWB/CB) not wanted - Fiorentina interested but MU blocked the move and ended up on loan at Estudiantes who are happy to let him move on – Boca offer an option.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (CM) could be released from his contract
Angel Gomes (AM/CM) is a free agent – Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and RBL have all made enquiries since January and at least two of these three clubs have spoken with the player directly and RBL opted to buy Olmo at the end of January. A third party has recently become involved and have approached two London sides, Chelsea is one and probably Spurs. The player says he would be open to a move to London if there was a guarantee of playing time and that appears to have resulted in the German and Spanish sides to step back. Chelsea and Spurs both have preferred targets for his position and Chelsea do not give guarantees - but Gomes being a free agent may make him attractive to London based sides. Manchester United will push to have him agree a new contract but may need to offer some guarantees.
Paul Pogba (CM/AM) wants out but his options are not good at the asking price and Manchester United have not so far been open to taking players in part exchange.
Tahith Chong (RW) wanted out but persuaded to stay.
Andreas Pereira (AM) will be available but there are no obvious takers.
Jesse Lingard (RW/AM) knows that Manchester United see him as potentially being surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and that the current coach is not keen on him - so, not unreasonably. there is an ad hoc agreement with Mino that allows him to look for other options for the player. Right now I am aware there have been approaches to several sides and that a couple might be open to making a formal approach, but there remains a concern that as an English player there is a high risk if he were to move to mainland Europe - so the interest could easily wane. Interest in England I am told is thin on the ground although at least two sides have been approached - Atletico Madrid, Roma, Newcastle and West Ham. I suspect the summer and decisions yet to be agreed at the club will define whether he stays or goes.
Juan Mata (AM/RW) Was expected to move on in the summer – but now that is not so clear
Deji Sotona (LW) another kiddie who wants out - a "third party" has explained that the kid sees no plan for himself going forward and has made it clear that Manchester United is not the place for him to be. There are options away from England.
Alexis Sanchez (LW/F) Inter have cooled over keeping Sanchez but may be open to a continued loan and even if they do he needs to agree a significant cut in his financial demands. Regardless Manchester United still want to sell him permanently this summer and will be looking for a club to take him - but that will be very difficult. Fallback would be another loan but Manchester United would likely have to pick up most of his wages.

ED002, is it likely that Sanchez will juat let his contract with the club run down.

{Ed002's Note - No, he will want to be playing.}

The year is 2053 and Manchester United announce a new deal for future captain, the reincarnation of Duncan Edwards, and the 18 times world gurning champion Phil Jones.

Manchester United manager Scott McTominay said at the press conference that he felt next season we will see the real Phil Jones once he has fully recovered from hip replacement surgery.

Phil Jones had this to say "I just hope I'm able to shake off the hip issues over the summer and start next season fully fit. I feel if I can do that then I will be able to reach my full potential".

When asked by multiple times by every reporter in the room if he is surprised by the new deal, Jones had this to say "Not at all, the club have been really supportive the whole time I've been here. I thought when I lost my lower leg and had a prosthetic that my time would be up, but they gave me a new deal then so I'm not surprised now".

Ed002,

Is it plausible that Sanchez could be playing for Man Utd next season as apposed to a loan deal?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Sure.}

Phil Jones : A name which should have been off the books ages ago, and who so ever has decided to give him a new deal must be an absolute idiot. Even label of Home grown or English should not have saved him because put any reserve squad player and he will do batter and stay fit for 10 consicutive matches, but i can't see that feather body lad is playing. I feel a total waste of words talking about him. still i took this m7ch pain to write. If its in my hand, he is a free agent tomorrow.

What is the fee United are asking for Chris Smalling?

{Ed002's Note - The fee is unimportant but Roma want a loan with an obligation to buy next summer.}

Seems like about the right list to me.

I’d keep Smalling over Rojo and jones however he doesn’t get ahead of bailly or tuanzebe at back up so best to thank him for his service and let him go. He certainly does deserve to be playing regularly. We forget he was a mainstay under van Gaal and Mourinho. Personally I’d have kept blind over jones and Rojo also.
