Gareth Bale 1 year loan with pption to buy at the end, perhaps Real subsiding some of his wages or waiving a fee to get him off their books all rumoured today.
Any truth we are looking to turn to Bale Ed?
I have read across the site thar Bale doesn't want to play football, I'm not sure that is true, ZZ won't play him and so he is picking up a big wage, problem has been nobody could afford him to buy or loan and Real also wanted a fee so I feel a tad unfair on Bale to say he has given up.
Problem i'd see is we sign Bale and he just won't be fit for a while or its a risk in terms of injuries but we do have Greenwood to rotate with him which may work on that basis.
If we was also to sign Stevanovic with Bale for a couple of years, Greenwood eventually going central, may not work out too bad, a risk as I say in terms of Bale himself but on his day he is unplayable and the savings from Sancho fees we could strengthen elsewhere, mind you we need to sell players first.

{Ed002's Note - Gareth Bale (RW) - if the finances can be sorted out Manchester United could opt for him as an alternate to Sancho.}

Bale when fit and motivated is excellent. Even 30 games a season from a fit and motivated Bale makes our squad considerably better. His contribution would outweigh that of James, Pereira, Mata etc you'd expect.

The issue for me isn't even the fitness side of things, it's more the motivation element. He's achieved everything he could have at Real from a silverware perspective but from an individual one not so much. Does he still have the drive to be one of the best in the world? He gets to stay in a lovely city with good weather, good food, gets to play an incredible golf course at the Santander Madrid and when he is at work he gets to play football for one of the biggest clubs in the world, earning a massive wage doing it. He's living the dream and motivation must be hard to muster when that is the case.

I think it is a risk but based on the other options of Perisic or Costa, I'd still edge towards Bale but that's probably more in hope that he rediscovered his best form than expectation.

Bale can single handedly win games.
I do like the option of Greenwood and Bale rotating on RW.

Bale ‘could’ singlehandedly win games, past tense.

Now Bale is finished. Massive wages, atrocious injury record, no work ethic, and doesn’t seem to care about playing.

No problem rotating with bale as he'll be rotating with the operating table anyway.

Id be happy as ed said if the finances could be sorted.
A loan with an option would be ideal imo and fairly low risk.

I'd be disappointed if we sign Bale. I don't think short term options are a worthwhile investment. Look at Ighalo, as much as you might want him to be a success. The reality is is that he isn't going to challenge for a first team spot when everyone is fit. He's just there to make up the numbers.

If we can't sign Sancho this summer then I doubt we'll ever sign him. Next summer he'll either be more expensive than this, or if he isn't and is actually available cheaper then we will likely face strong competition from other sides, possibly even the sides that he would prefer to move to.

The only scenario which isn't a terrible idea when signing Bale would be on a heavily subsidised one year loan deal. He is 31, has a chequered history with injuries, is a player who relies heavily on pace, and has shown little desire to play football over the past few seasons.

Will he be able to stay fit often enough to play a decent number of games?

If he can stay fit is he still able to make a difference in the faster more physically demanding league?

Would he be a positive or negative impact on our young squad?

If he can stay fit, and if he can still play at the level he was at a few years ago and if he can find his desire to play then he would be a good signing.

But that is a lot of ifs. While his wage demands have the potential to cause another Sanchez situation.

A one year loan deal where we pay half his wages and a proportion of that half is performance related. Then it wouldn't be an awful move.

But then what happens if he does well? Should the club sign him permanently next summer? And at what cost? Or if we can't sign Sancho next summer and Bale flops who do we sign then?

I think if we can't sign Sancho then we should look for a diamond in the rough type signing. Someone young, with potential who we could sign and rotate around with the likes of Greenwood, Rashford and James in the wide positions.

Mbeumo, Tsygankov, Stengs, Neres, or Leon Bailey.

Players who can play anywhere across the front line, have talent and could make a huge jump up if placed in and around better players.

Why would anyone be excited about Bale. there was a semblance of a plan, young, hungry players, Bale is simply a galactico signing. tbe higher ups have known for months what it would take to get Sancho and have acted, as usual in an amateurish way again and will now panic buy someone who doesn't fit.

Bale will be injured first game he plays and will be out. it's a disgrace tve club acts like this, no ambition apart from bringing in money.

I don't think its fair to state he has little desire to play football, Madrid have ostracised Bale for that time period in the main, ZZ didn't exactly want to play him, if I recall Real blocked Bale going to China to play football, let's be fair even if Real wanted to let him go rather than blocking him leavinv these past 2 years who, except the Chinese club, would be able afford him, those that could afford him didn't need him, so that leaves Bale stuck really, easy to say take a pay cut etc but until recently Real wanted a hefty fee for Bale as well so tbh I don't blame Bale for picking up the wage Real agreed to pay him when he signed if they don't want to select him.
The Bale for Wales shows desire and work ethic as did the Bale for Real prior to all of this, I feel if Bale came here he would have a lot to prove and have desire and work hard but as I say his fitness and then injuries would be my concern.
