Good morning ed002.
Do you expect Manchester United to try and get any new players in during the Jan window.? Who if anybody are the club targeting?
Secondly do you think we will be able to sell on any players? Is there any interest in any of our players from elswhere?
Thanks for your time.
Ken.

{Ed002's Note - I don't see a concerted effort to do anything specific in January right now and my expectation is that clubs will not be looking to do too much in January as it is very difficult to plan for. Ighalo is out of contract in January and the club need to make decisions about those out of contract in the summer. The club will look toward players for the summer and already many clubs are talking to each other and agents about what will happen next summer. The club will look to add a third choice GK, perhaps internally, a CB, DM, and perhaps a LM. Much depends on sorting out the midfield problems.}

Thought as much ed thank you.
Jan never the best time and with the unpredictability around finances its even worse this year.
I think shifting a few out will take priority this winter.
I hope that we can do that. Rojo and mata are both out of contract in the summer i'm not sure who else is.

{Ed002's Note - My notes say:
Sergio Romero (G) out of contract
Lee Grant (G) out of contract
Timothy Fosu-Mensah (RB) out of contract
Marcos Rojo (LB/CB) out of contract
Jesse Lingard (AM) out of contract
Edinson Cavani (S) out of contract
Odion Ighalo (S) out of contract in January}

Amateurs may still offer or trigger options players have to their contracts.

i think cavani will likely get a new deal

the rest can leave for me.

Cavani might be useful to keep for another year, he does have a one year extension option.

T
All the others should be allowed to leave. None are anywhere near the first 11, they are taking up a lot of wages and even if given a new deal we wouldn't be able to get much for them. Best cutting ties and allowing them to move on.

I'd keep Cavani as he is useful. The others can go as it will free up spaces in the squad aswell as wages. After all, C.V. effects will last some time. We need a new shirt sponsorship soon, it will more than likely be less than what we got last time.

All of those players out of contract should be let go only one I'd consider keeping is cavani but that will be based off how he does this season. also ed wouldn't Mata be on the list?

Hasn't TFM signed a new contract?

{Ed002's Note - He may well have done - I didn't check

I hope Woodward doesn't do the "need to protect the value" thing.

So we are not after a rw now such as Sancho which is good news as I think buying him doesn't make sense afyer buying Diallo and Pelistri.

At least Phil Jones is'nt out of contract, thank God.

Many thanks as always, Ed002.

I wouldn't object to any of the out of contract players leaving, with the exception of Cavani who should be renewed for a further year.

Interesting that you mentioned the club may look at left midfielder, I can't understand that when we have Rashford and Martial for that role. Are you able to shed any light onto this please? If you have chance before Christmas a broader transfer target update would be much appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - Rashford and Martial are forwards not midfield players. Don't expect much if anything in January.}

We absolutely have to keep Mata and not just for what he can still provide on the park as a fringe player. He embodies everything about being a Red. He loves his craft, he is passionate and gives 100% every time he steps on the pitch. More like him across the park and we would be flying. Sure he is older but purely as an example to the youngsters he has to stay and eventually become an ambassador. The rest can leave including the circus that is Pogba.
