HI Eds,

Hope all are well.

A question for one of the Eds if possible. I was wondering if you could give us an update on the goalkeeper situation? I know Heaton has arrived, but are we looking at a first choice at the risk of DDG and Henderson moving on?

That sounds rather foolish. Another season of chop and changing the Gks wouldn't be the best of ideas.

The rumours are that Ole has told Henderson that he will be United's No.1 at the start of next season.

He supposedly returned from the England camp to make sure he would be fit in time for the start of the season, after picking up a hip issue while on international duty.

While other rumours say DDG has said he wants to stay and fight for his place next season. This suggests that DDG has been told he can find another club which backs up the Henderson being first choice rumour. Yet he wants to stay and fight for the starting place.

Ideally one of them leaves this summer as the indecision over which is first choice is impacting the form of both of them.

However, if both do stay then we need strong leadership from Ole. He needs to pick his No.1 and stick with him, he can't drop him at the first sign of a wobble or after any mistake. Doing that is what will create more indecision amoung the keepers.

He needs to say he's number one and he's number two, for the whole season and we'll readdress it next summer.

Hendo will start off the season as number one mainly because DDG was at the Euros and isn't due back training until 4 August, so unlikely he will be ready for the first few fixtures. Question is how long does Ole stick with Hendo?

But Ed002, how does this work with us extending Lee Grant’s contract and then signing Heaton as 3rd choice GK. Seems odd to carry 4 GK’s in the squad.

Henderson for PL, DDG for the CL and cups. Other clubs have operated in such a fashion. For example Casilas and Diego Lopez for real madrid.
