I know the Ed's have said out relationship with mino is non existent.

I've been told pogba has had his head turned and is thinking about staying, but for him to agree he wants the relationship with mino repaired.

If I was utd I'd give the player what he wants and let him leave. changing a players mind can be temporary and then we will have an unhappy pogba 6 months into a new contract and the problems will then start all over again.

Couldn’t agree more. The only reason to repair the relationship with Mino would be to get a decent fee for Pogba and grease the wheels for Haaland.

Just let Pogba leave.

Haaland would be a terrific signing for us but even if we manage to sign him he would only be at the club for a couple of years I guess.

It will not be long before Mino starts messing around with us if we signed any on his top clients again. I would say look at alternative options to Haaland.

It's not like Mino is the only one having all the best talents.

Isn't Jesse managed by Mino these days?

By head turned do you mean that no other "top" sides such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich etc want him, meaning his choices are stay at United as they finally start to build an exciting side or move to PSG.

That's not so much as having your head turned but having doors slammed in your face.

The issue is I don't see how Pogba fits into this side. He isn't defensively diligent enough to be part of the pivot. While the same issue is present if we switch to a 433, he still doesn't work hard enough off the ball, while moving Bruno wider and further away from goal limits his impact as seen with Portugal.

If Bruno starts in his best position then there is no where for Pogba.

Shappy, can't put it much better than that.

The modern game needs every player to work hard and do a job on the pitch to win anything significant. I don't see Pogba doing that.

Unless one is a game changer and can make a big impact on games on their own consistently, there is no way a player is going to be given any freedom or liberty to play the way they want to - like Pogba wants to.

Pogba is a luxury player: great in a superior team in a predominantly weak league where he is not required to put in a defensive shift week in week out. He's not suited to the EPL where his ill-timed tackles tend to concede as many penalties and free kicks in dangerous positions as he provides goals and assists at the other end. He comes across as being very egotistical, and because of this, along with his repeated desire to be somewhere else, he has no leadership qualities. His talent is not in doubt but as far as I'm concerned he's been an enormous disappointment. CR7 was very full of himself too, but he delivered.

I think the attitude towards Pogba here is very unfair. He's a really good player, and was excellent last year when fit. There were many posters on here talking about how good he was with Bruno in the team. But there's a general negativity towards the guy. None of that is reflected in what his fellow players and coaches say about him. I do think that he fell into a malaise like the other players but not last year, and not the previous season either imo. I genuinely think that he's being judged to a different standard than our other players. If we could replace him with Saul then ok I can see that would improve us because they have similar quality but Saul plays in a position we need more that where Pogba prefers, but there are only a handful of players at his level.

DonRed, what's unfair is the performances we get from Pogba. He is excellent on his day which are far and few between. For a so-called world class player people are going to expect solid performances from him consistently.

Whatever the standards, skills, levels or abilities he got hasn't really translated into very good performances on the pitch consistently.

We don't need anyone at his level who can't perform. We need players who make the most of their abilities and actually perform on the pitch which Pogba hasn't done for United on a regular basis.

Im with you DonRed. Pogba has this negative reputation amongst fans despite being the consumate professional. He doesn't smoke, he doesn't drink and he hasn't done anything like what other players such as CR7 have been alleged to have done. All of this because he dances when he scores and isn't the most defensively astute player.

Imo, on his day Pogba is the second best midfielder in the league behind KDB. I would love for him to stay if he was committed and signed a new deal. I don't really know what people expect of him, to score wondergoals at one end and make game saving tackles at the other? Every game he picks beautiful through balls and he can hit a 50p piece from 80yards. If he goes, we certainly can't replace him with anyone that would be any cheaper than he was.

So72, we need to stop with this "on his day" nonsense. If he was that good he shouldn't need such excuses.

People are just expecting him to be a professional and do a job on the football pitch consistently. It's that too much to ask from a footballer paid millions?

And this nonsense about we can't replace him is tiresome. For the inconsistent performances he has put in at the club over the years he certainly isn't the MVP at the club that it is going to be a big loss for the club. In fact his departure is going to make the team better if we manage to add a solid deep lying playmaker or even a DM.

It's not the end of the world for United if he leaves.

How can anyone defend Pogba on here. He has been rubbish for three years / seasons now.
It's excuse after excuse with him.
No way would i be letting him dictate when he wants to to sign a new deal or not.
Pogba is up sh*t creak without a paddle now because i don't think he want's to join PSG but they are the only team prepared to pay money for him.
He wants him dream move to Barca, Juve or Real next season but United would technically miss out on 30-40 million pounds.
No chance, United should act now and sell him to PSG, get what you can and replace him.

{Ed002's Note - It doesn’t work like that.}

13.) 05 Aug 2021
05 Aug 2021 13:25:04
Simo you can't sell him to psg if he doesn't want to go there.
The club have been hugely disrespectful to pogba and his agent.
He might sign a new contest if we offer irresistible outrageous terms.
Otherwise he will leave on a free unless he decides to move to psg.
He holds all the cards we hold none.
I'd love him to leave this summer but if I was affixing him I'd tell him to sit tight and make his choice next summer. He and his agent owe united nothing after the way they treated them with the extention being triggered without engaging with them. Its really immature and not only bad practise but the worst practise and if I did it to an employee I'd expect them never to trust me again. Disgusting behaviour.

ken,

United have been disrespectful to Pogba and his agent by paying out millions. All right.

I can agree the club have been very amateurish with the way they have dealt this issue but being disrespectful is way over the top and in reality it's the other way round.

Pogba does owe an apology to United for being the most inconsistent so-called world class player. I don't even want to talk about his agent.

If Pogba was an employee he would have been fired long ago and he wouldn't have had the luxury of an agent speaking on his behalf.

16.) 05 Aug 2021
05 Aug 2021 15:30:24
If Pogba was an employee in a normal industry, he would have quit years ago to work for another company.

Pogba is an employee who has told the club he would like to play elsewhere. The club has priced him out of a move for years and kept an unhappy underperforming player at the club. This is a poor footballing decision.

All Pogba’s agent has done is attempted to get his client the move he wants. If Pogba was key to the team, there might be some justification in keeping him. As it stands United and Pogba have both wasted time and money on a situation that suits neither party.

17.) 05 Aug 2021
05 Aug 2021 15:49:14
Danny, probably he would have quit but certainly wouldn't be earning anywhere near what he earns as a footballer.

I didn't know that it was as easy to move around companies being an underperforming employee in your previous job.
