Sky sports are reporting that Dortmund are in talks for dalot. Loan with buy option. If he goes whos AWB's backup? I'm confused.

Trippier.

Trippier hopefully.

Let's see how it pans out mate. If he's being let go I'm sure we will have something lined up.

Typical united tim and watch wan bissaka get injuried

Although lindercrap can play rb.

Would love trippier but I think the above post might be right. Lindelof has played there before so we will prob use him there at times. Typical square pegs in round holes.

Lindelof at RB would be a huge mistake.

Last season AWB played in 34 of the 38 league games, all 6 of our UCL games and all 9 of our UEL games, 3 out of 4 FA cup games, and 2 of the 4 League cup games we played.

Meaning we needed a back up RB for 4 league games, 1 FA cup game, and 2 league cup games.

AWB played in 54 of our 61 games last season. In the other 7 games Williams, Dalot and Tuanzebe covered for him.

If Mengi, Lindelof or whoever else needs to cover for 7 games this season will it be a disaster?

thats assuming wan bissaka stays fit shappy and is consistent in his form.

tbh i really like wan bissaka but going forward he is terrible, his passing is poor and he always looks like he's going to fall over when running forward.

defensively he is top but we need more from him going forward.

I just don’t understand how we are ‘potentially’ trading a 22 year old right back who’s got scope to improve, for a 30 year old who’s game is based on getting up and down, and when we’ll only get two seasons of optimum performance out of him. Antonio Valencia was a great player for us, but we persisted with him into his 30’s and he held us back. If the alleged interest is real then I’m failing to see how Diogo isn’t good enough at least as a back up for us, but he’s good enough for Bayern or Dortmund…….

Trippier starts ahead of AWB in any game we play against non-top 6 sides, for me. He’d also probably be Shaw’s understudy at LB.

Yes, AWB’s slide tackling is immense, but he cannot defend his back post for toffee and looks about as comfortable on the ball going forward as The Inbetweeners did on the dancefloor.

Trippier is better than AWB.

Agree downsie. 50m for awb looks silly now imo. Not improved 1 iota since he joined in fact he looked better at Palace.
Trippier is streets ahead of him and dalot is not happy at united and who can blame him.

Is that awb’s fault Ken or the coaching staff?

Valencia was a poor RB. He was useless go forward. He was lucky to stay at the club for so long.

100% with Ken on this one. Buying awb has been a mistake so far. He can't bomb on on the overlap without turning back, coming inside into pointless positions, playing it back to the cbs or running into the opposition. Which I consider pretty shocking considering he used to be a winger in palaces academy set up. He hasn't improved in attack one bit. He is a great defender one on one, but recently I've noticed more and more that he very easily switches off and fails to track his runner. Hence the magnificent last ditch tackles he pulls off. Some of the tackles he puts in are ultimately a result of him not tracking his runner or poor positioning.

I was completely against signing trippier but the more I think about it, the more I think we need him.

Hindsight is a a wonderful thing. But 50m for AWB or the 30m Max Aarons would have cost now makes it look like we went for the wrong deal.

the issue for me is we shouldn't be signing a back up RB we should be signing a 1st choice RB, i defended bissaka as much as i can he just isn't good enough for a top club yes he can slide tackle usually as he has to because he is a bad defender he can't read the game, can't position him self doesn't stop crosses and the less said about is forward ability the better awful player.

The other factor to consider is that Dalot is not actually any good.

And here comes Ken criticising the manager and coaching again! AWB has been a very good signing, solid and dependable in a position we haven’t had addressed for years . He is improving too, especially with the ball albeit a long way to go. Huge difference playing for us and palace, gets far more possession with us and is left far more exposed with us as we attack in more numbers than palace. At palace he was set up to defend in two blocks of four, perfect for him . So yes he has been a good signing and he is improving and no he is not another stick for you to beat our manager with!

I disagree Chris as does olewally as he has chased trippier all summer. So wally and I agree on something. Tim yes its down to coaching. Awb can do better he will eventually when we get a better staff.

I wouldn't say AWB has been a mistake as he's still so young and has so much time to grow however he hasn't really improved as of yet and for me is our most frustrating starter atm. I'd still give dalot a shot.
