Ed 002
Is there any likelihood United will push for Ronaldo, bookies are slashing odds atm.

{Ed002's Note - I think it unlikely. MU have already had their chance to declare an interest.}

Bookies are slashing the odds because of a tweet from Rio Ferdinand.

All I'm seeing is "so your telling me there's a chance"

I wouldn’t of thought there was a chance had city not been interested. Will the club allow city to move for him and Take the backlash that comes with it? I don’t know.

Interesting press conference from ole!

Oh yes I forgot that the sun journalists are much more in the know than Rio.

Well seeing this from Ed has burst my bubble, Fabrizio and a number of other United journalists seem to think we are keen and making an offer.

{Ed077's Note - things can always change though}

I didn’t even want him until about an hour ago haha my opinion has changed so hopefully the situation has as well.

Fab on twitter has said we have now declared interest.

9.) 27 Aug 2021
27 Aug 2021 14:23:59
Is it genuine interest or just an attempt to say we've tried to keep the gullible kool-aid drinking fans onside?

Ed - thanks as always for the info at the time you are asked; second to none.

Regarding squad numbers, if Ronaldo was to sign, have we made sufficient space in the squad?

{Ed002's Note - Surely you can work it out.}

27 Aug 2021 14:51:49
You would have thought so!
I recall Tuanzebe counting as one of the >21 players creating space but I thought there was another we needed to ‘lose’.

i think cavani might be off

wants to go back to south america.

Just love Ed002’s snippets of information! Not being the brightest, can hypothesise any of the following to try to work things out:

1. Marketing ploy by Glazers to increase brand awareness, value and shirt sales, as well as making big gesture to disgruntled supporters. Glazers signed Tom Brady - work same at United?

2. Lingard off to West Ham or Dalot off to Dortmund to make space for him/ contribute towards wages

3. Cavani not coming back so Ronaldo replacing him

4. Just wish United would sign a midfielder though - wonderful having amazing attack, but Matic and Fred in midfield and Donny not fitting the system. Just hope we get Saul on loan or Neves…

Dare say poor Ed002 being bombarded with posts now to explain things! Guess we must wait for the Gentleman Explorer to clarify things for us if he has time or the inclination!

(If Ed002 is kind enough to add his omniscient knowledge, would be very grateful to hear if, should Ronaldo arrive, we would still be interested in signing a midfielder! )

{Ed002's Note - 1. The shirt sales don't help. 2. €675k per week was enough to put off MC. 3. £15M or thereabouts to get out of the contract with Cavani. 4. Need to move one on first.}

Agree bolger cavani and his desire to play for Uruguay which is probably his chance to see his family and why he's so determined have probably pushed the club to act.

Could also be a way to get rid of pogba.

Thanks Ed002. From the information you give, looks like bringing Ronaldo in would be a challenge: high wages, compete with Cavani and having to make space in tbe squad.

Again, I’d much rather we use any flexibility we have/ can create to sign a midfielder….

Now BBC are running it as a story I tend to think there is a real liklihood of it happening.

You can literally feel the saltiness coming from one of the Ed’s, it’s fantastic.

Conflicted feelings here:

Yep, will get goals

But

Huge wages that could disrupt wage structure and dressing room (like we never learned from Sanchez)

Not very mobile at tracking back, so rest of team have to compensate for him (and Pogba mot great at doing this)

Nostalgic rather than practical and what we need. With Cavani, now be Dad’s Army of premiership

We desperately need a midfielder (especially McTom injured: Fred and Matic…) and Donny more attacking midfield than box to box. Just wish we could get Saul now for a year on loan then permanent to replace Pogba when he leaves on a free next year

So yes, legend returns, but too much of a romantic gesture than making us contenders - Liverpool, City and Chelsea still have much more quality and depth throughout their squads.

27 Aug 2021 17:35:33
Leaves McT, Fred and Matic in midfield (can’t really include Pogba, Bruno and Donny as attacking midfield)

So great defence and attach, but midfield….

Wallace,

That’s assuming we don’t push for a midfielder as well.

Here’s hoping GDS2: maybe strengthen the Portuguese contingent with Neves…

(Can dream)

Ronaldo left OT in 2009: both Carrick and Fletcher playing in midfield then.

Happy reunions all-round!

Romano saying we're in serious talks since yesterday and the club are currently negotiating figures. Odd times.
