ED002,

What would be the best outcome for Utd in regards to their current predicament?

I saw you augment they should perhaps look within and choose someone to perhaps take over until the end of the season?

Do they have anyone capable of performing such a role, I do realise the irony in me asking this when we already have OGS in charge.

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Appointing someone the club doesn't want would be a huge mistake. Having someone work with Solskjaer or to replace him on an interim basis until they can get who they want makes sense. And that assumes that the club can identify who they really want. Ideally I think they would look to Pochettino but it is unlikely that PSG would be open to letting him go - unless they are attracted to Zidane (who wants that job in particular). Alternatively Southgate offers a decent long-term solution but he is contracted until after the World Cup - so the end of next year. If the club want to shake off the amateur tag and sort the club out properly - look to moving Edwards and Fletcher on and make a very good offer to Edwin van der Sar as Chief Executive, Marc Overmars as Director of Football and try to add Erik ten Hag as Head Coach.}

Ed002, VDS, Overmars and EtH would be my dream outcome.

What are the realistic chances of that happening or is it just a pipe dream?

{Ed002's Note - About zero I am afaid.}

Thanks for info Ed002.

Apologies for reading too much into what you say but you start with talking about making the mistake of appointing someone they don’t want: am assuming then that they’re not that keen - or have reservations about him - about Conte? Might you suggest what these reservations might be please if possible?

And if Solskjaer keeps on losing, and there is no interim or internal solution available, might they just have to bite the bullet and and give Conte the reigns rather than risk having a disasterous season while they wait for their preferred option?

Thanks again for any knowledge you feel able to impart.

{Ed002's Note - Antonio Conte is an outstanding tactical coach but he is very obstinate who won't be a good fit with the management nor a number of the players.}

ED002,

Thanks for the reply. The club has a feel of Liverpool about it during g the 90s etc. Clinging onto the past. I think it will take something disastrous for the club to change, most likely if/ when he club fail to attract lucrative sponsorship deals and perhaps a couple of years without European football.

Ed002, unfortunately that's what I thought.

Would you be able to give a little more insight into the troubles behind the scenes at United.

Is it a case of a power vacuum with inappropriate people now having positions beyond their capabilities.

Or just an arrogance in what they do with little real understanding of the processes involved.

I find myself at a bit of a loss at how the club seemed to have employed people with little to no clue on how to do their job, then repeatedly make a mess of it and somehow seem to suffer no consequences for their mistakes or even appear to learn from them.

{Ed002's Note - Nothing changes. The senior management structure is still a problem. Individuals are a problem but the fault is only seen at the club manager/head coach level. Mr Mourinho fixed the scouting structure under Marcel Bout but he is not given the support he needs by senior management as the club stumbles from one expensive addition to another.}

Caolan, they may want to do so to try and convince Mbappe to sign a new deal. I'm not sure if it'll make a huge difference but many french players want to work with Zidane. It was Zidane's intervention that took an 18 year old Varane to Real Madrid after he had a positive meeting with Sir Alex.

Failing that they do like to keep that french link so might just look to Zidane as an option. While maybe Zidane could tempt Pogba to PSG as he was the main person pushing for Pogba at Real Madrid.

Maybe PSG would consider Zidane/ Pogba as leading French players/ manager to replace Mbappe.

I don't know as much as a lot of you guys about European football as I don't watch many games outside of Utds European exploits and I don't know much about this Ten Hag fella but I've thought for the last few years if any other club with a large budget were to recruit Overmars and Van der Sar they could pretty much recruit any top manager (within reason) and any top player would be impressed by their vision.

No reason it wouldn't work anywhere else than Ajax but VDS is a very impressive figure when he talks football, and Overmars is equally as good.

Thanks as always for the reply ed002.

Any chance of Laurent Blanc as an interim manager?

{Ed002's Note - Laurent would likely be interested if offered but he would want an option based on performances I would think.}

What we need is a trouble shooter to go into United, tell them where they are going wrong, how to fix it and then put the right people in place. Only one person is capable of performing this necessary task, Ed002, over to you.
