Just in and read some of the previous posts. So did ole really say that finishing second last year was an over achievement and that he never said we'd repeat it or do better this year? Did he actually spew that from his mouth or has it been lost in translation?!

Would you have expected us to finish above Liverpool?

It was an overachievement for Jose, so too with Ole. Look at how far away we really are. we will be lucky to get 3rd this season.

No team with Pogba in the midfield is ever going to win the PL. You can't have passengers in the middle of the park nowadays.

Its just a tactic to take pressure away from the players.

The mind boggles that anyone could watch us this season and manage to blame Paul Pogba. He has been our best player in most of our wins this season. We got hammered 5-0 at the weekend, game was gone before Pogba was even on the pitch so how on earth can you bring it back to him.

Ole will never be a top manager.

I never said it was only his fault we lost to Liverpool. Just reread it.

I could read that 1000 times and still not agree with you. Pogba isn't the problem.

Pogba might not be the problem, but he isn't the solution either.

Talented lad, but clear flaws in his game that he hasn't been able to remove from his game and we haven't been able to come up with a system to mitigate them.

He hasn't wanted to be here for a number of years and it's time to draw a curtain on the Pogba years and move on.

I don't think many sides in the Prem can be built around a luxury player like that. Maybe in the Spanish league (or what's left of it), where there is much more time on the ball and it's not based on physicality. I could imagine him doing well at City who have the players to be able to walk around but even then he'd need to up his game. When it works it's both brilliant and frustrating in equal measure. Why can't it be like that every week? Sadly it rarely is. Utd are crying out for a significant signing in that position. A mainstay in the XI that the side genuinely can be built around. It's easy to say Ronaldo for now, but I genuinely can't see another player we can look at and say he's worth building around for the next ten years.
Lovely guy etc but I'm afraid for me he's another undoubted talent who probably came for the money before wanting to move on to his actual goal, PSG or Real. We've spent a small fortune on such players over the years but hopefully, with a few lessons learnt and a new global economic outlook such signings will be scrutinised a bit more carefully.

Spenno, I agree Pogba isn't a player for an EPL winning side. You just don't get the time and space on the ball that you see in other leagues. As such he is a luxury player that an EPL team cannot afford.

People point to his assists this season as evidence of how important he is to the team.

He got 4 against Leeds in the opening 5-1 win.

He got 1 against Southampton in a cagey 1-1 draw.

And he got 2 in the 4-1 win against Newcastle.

So he made positive contributions in 3 of the 12 matches he has appeared in and been sent off in one of the others.

If you take him out of all of our matches then we would have drawn 1-1 with Leeds, and lost 1-0 to Southampton. While we would still have beaten Newcastle 2-1. Assuming that whoever replaced him in the line up made no contribution.

We would have been 3 points worse off (2 dropped against Leeds and 1 Vs Southampton) .

Then when we consider that he played most of those games on the left due to Rashford being out. Then you wonder would a fully fit Rashford have scored or assisted in any of those games?

In two sub appearances and two 65 minute run outs since he has returned from injury Rashford has 3 goals in 4 matches or 173 minutes. Averaging a goal every 57 minutes.

I would argue that had Rashford been fit all season and Pogba injured that we would have at least as many points as we do, in all probability maybe a few more.

Pogba trying very very hard to give away multiple goals against Atalanta. Someone tell him Halloween is over.
