Ed - hope you had a good weekend.
Has FDJ become the clubs no1 CM target?

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed.}

He’s been the number 1 target since Ten Hag was confirmed.

I’m not sure that’s accurate.
The club have had their own preferred targets (such as SMS) separate to those of ETH.

My questions was more to do with whether the club and ETH are now in agreement that FDJ is the no1 target.

It’s pretty obvious he’s a target. The more relevant question is will he be signing for us or is this another wild goose chase?

The current rumour is that City are going to go for him which would effectively mean we aren't getting him. Hopefully it's just made up stories from the papers or twitter but Ed002 has said previously that City could look to De Jong and have the added sweetener of players they could add to a deal such as Laporte or Silva.

{Ed002's Note - This is nothing new.}

I think Barcelona will be more interested in a straight cash transfer then they can use that plus the wages for lewandowski i imagine they will pay cash plus trincao (? ) For neves? then there's raphinha, plus the free transfers they've agreed but may not be able to register.

I believe we may have well be speaking to an agent maybe even de jong if Barcelona have allowed this and once we know he's happy to join things may move quickly. i'm sure ed can tell if i'm completley off that mark.
i think we have a good chance of de jong if we didn't have ETH then we wouldn't stand a chance.

De Jong obviously seen as key by ETH. Barcelona will sell. He’s not set the world alight there albeit playing in an unfavourable position. If City are in for him then clearly that’s a threat but agree with DBrooks they need cash and likely all upfront. We have missed out on scores of great players in the past and perhaps De Jong is this close seasons latest episode. What I’m less clear on is who the back up to De Jong is. He’s spoken as though intending to stay but do think he will be forced out. ETH making him the main man, perhaps captain, in a rebuild may appeal. Obviously working under Guardiola or Klopp would do too though with more immediate chances of silverware. City are obviously massively appealing but they can’t play everyone as £100m Grealish will tell you. My gut feel is we will get De Jong. Not wearing red-tinted specs there. Honest!
