Hi Ed002,

Thanks as always helping us be privy to intimate transfer news: can only guess how you get to know everything you do! Guessing a Gentleman Adventurer always has his contacts…

Thus, and sorry to ask as can guess the answer, is there any chance that Man United might try to sign Declan Rice this Summer if FDJ doesn’t happen?

Or his he just not got sake, too expensive or simply woukdnt be interested in United this year?

Was just thinking that reported De Jong money (£75m? ) plus sales might be enough to tempt West Hsm? (Apologies for my ignorance on how transfers really work/ cost)

Thanks for any info as always.

{Ed002's Note - I don’t think he is for sale.}

Do we really need another overpriced English player. We already have Maguire.

{Ed014's Note - to be fair one is class the others an ass!

Rice would be a great signing. He would complete the midfield.

Rice is a wonderful player, his clubs captain who has got better each year, I do t understand why anyone would knock him at all.

Rice is a great player who'd improve the starting 11 of most if not all teams in the EPL.

That said I don't see United chasing after his signature with EtH as manager. He isn't the highly technical type midfielder that EtH builds his side around.

Also when asked why he has focused more on players from outside the EPL this summer in terms of signings, EtH said that EPL player, particularly British players come with a high price that he/ the club didn't feel was worth it. Or words to that effect.

I can't imagine he'd sanction a 100m+ deal for a player who doesn't perfectly fit his criteria.

Maybe what he wants from a midfielder might change between now and next summer after he has had a year to learn and adapt to the EPL. But I wouldn't count on it.

Rice to Chelsea, Bellingham to City or Liverpool. Two outstanding midfielders who will never wear the United shirt IMO. Unless Chelsea seriously implode I just can't see how Rice wouldn't end up there - stays in London, Top 4 club, playing with his best mate Mount, earning £250k+ a week.

And his feet won't become webbed when moving to Its Grim Up North.

The rest of us have to put up with it. Rice won't.
