Ed is Willems a long term target or have we lost interest? {Ed002's Note - The interest seems to have waned a little.}

I think Willems as an understudy to Evra was an option had the Baines interest fell through, but after Willems tragic World Cup performances, I think the club deemed him not ready and went for their third option in Buttner. That's just my opinion mind.

I felt sorry for Willems. He was a young lad thrust into an already under performing team at the WC. The criticisms of him remind me of the criticisms levelled at De Gea when he first came to the club and was being played behind an ever changing and struggling defence. People can expect far too much of these young lads and that WC experience no doubt shook Willems confidence massively and set him back.

Don't think Willems featured in the WC Syd! He was there in the Euros though and like most of his teammates had a horrifying tournament.
