Genuine question here. I know there's some people on here that think the whole Rooneygate saga is a negotiation technique used by him & his agent to get a better deal. My question is, when I take an objective look, why would he want MORE money?! What's the guy earning 200-250 a week? I mean surely that's enough? Surely he's not that greedy? & I don't see him earning more anywhere else. When you get to that level of money it's always going to be more than you can spend anyway. I don't believe he wants an improved contract, that said I'm sure he'd take it.

I think a lot of it is to do with last year, playing time and position .
I think Chelsea will offer him the chance to play as the main striker and be the main man

We should go in for bale. that would be a statement.

3.) 12 Aug 2013
Personally I think it's mind games from chealski and moanrinhio . Have we ever heard the Rooney wants to leave FROM Wayne himself, no . JM is trying to unsettle WR and the squad

USW

I think it'll be something to do with the clause I have heard about where he has his wages increased to continue to be the highest paid player at OT.

If we were to be bringing Ronaldo back then surely Ronaldo would be on a higher wage than him therefore increasing his wage automatically.

We maybe trying too remove the clause in the negociation.

Just like 2010, if MU paid him what he and his agent wants Rooney will do another U-turn. I wasn't born yesterday.

Syd
what's your latest take on the Rooney situation you seem to change your mind on a monthly basis.
Do you still think United are looking to sell him
Jred

7.) 12 Aug 2013
My opinion has never changed. I think MU wanted to nudge him out the door to a foreign club this summer. SAF doing his best to make that happen. I think Rooney and his agent were aware of this. MU never wanted to sell him to a rival, but will do if the price is right. My personal opinion is that we shouldn't sell unless we have improved our team first. If we fail with our targets then we should keep Rooney for another season if he doesn't continue to be an arse.

But I though you said it was about Rooney holding out for a new contract.

I still don't think United want to sell him for all the reasons I've stated over the last 12 month I also think this stance has been confirmed by moyes and United. However if the player wants to leave that may change things .
All though again that goes against your negotiating for a bigger contract theory.

Ape, we also haven't heard from Wayne saying he wants to stay so he is obviously either for a move away or at least open to it. RvP has had two injury free decent seasons but he's always had a history of injuries so it's likely he could get one and be out for a while, especially if we rely on him too much.

We need Rooney big time unless we actually get some form of world class attacking forward in before we allow him to leave.

No it doesn't go against my negotiating for a bigger contract theory. Rooney wants an improved deal or he will leave and MU want to sell him abroad, but not to a rival. Simple really.

If MU offered him an improved deal he would do another one of his U-turns. But MU will not offer him an improved contract as they would prefer to flog him abroad. If Chelsea offer the right amount he will be sold.

You can't possible know that so why pretend you do .
Is there any chance that Rooney quite simply fancies a move to Chelsea, for me there are a lot of pros for Rooney to go there .
Why are you so sure you know what's going on at United or Rooney .

Common sense Jred.

13.) 12 Aug 2013
The same common sense that failed you so badly on lewandowski, bale evra clevs .
Like I've said before everyone gives there opinion you give your opinion as fact .
Did your common sense not work out that we were going to buy Lewandowski and therefore Rooney would be sold?
.
Poor attempt at side stepping my last post

Jred, let's cast our minds back to 2010 when a certain Wayne Rooney wouldn't sign a contract. He said he wants to leave because MU have no ambition. Well after signing an unknown Hernandez, Smalling and Bebe he decides he will sign a new deal. What do 'YOU' think convinced him to sign a deal in October 2010? Bebe? Or the big fat pay day that he wanted? Like I said you need to use your common sense. If MU offered him what he wants to stay meaning he doesn't have to uproot and move to London, then he will take it. Just like he did last time. It's all about money and convenience Jred.

I still believe if Lew had signed then Rooney would be a Chelsea player already.

I still believe Bale is not a great left-winger. He's better central and could play on the left of a front three, but he isn't a great left-winger. Wasted in that position.

I still believe Evra would have been replaced by Baines last summer had SAF got what he wanted.

I still believe Cleverley will be a regular in the MU midfield for years to come.

Obviously opinions change over time Jred, and I am of course allowed to change my opinions after circumstances change. For example, unless I seen Bale play centrally I would never have expected him to play so well there. Things change.

So Sydney, we keep Rooney and say to him, you will do until we get someone better to replace you, then you can get lost.
That is a fantastic way to motivate the player! NOT!
Bottom line, is Ferguson has got a long memory, he didn't like Rooney handing in a transfer request a couple of years ago, and in his last stupid speech, he thought he will get back at the player by telling lies about Rooney asking for a transfer. See it any way you want, but Ferguson cocked up big style. Leaving the player unhappy, his value is lower than it should be as Chelsea know they can get him cheaply.
It wasn't Ferguson's finest hour. Problem is that the club would not retract the statement, even though it is fabricated rubbish by Ferguson and we have an unhappy player which is not good for morale.
So before you lay all the blame at Rooney's feet, just think. All it needs is for the club to say there was a misunderstanding and he did not ask for a transfer, and I think you will see that Rooney will be happy with that.
Is it going to happen? I don't think so, better to just shoot ourselves in the foot, which is what is going to happen.
