Had to chuckle in the car on the way to work.
Transfer Specialist Warren Horton was on and said United have actually agreed personnal terms with Fellaini and Herrera and both players want to come but they will not pay the asking price, the story of the summer.
What's even more disturbing was Moyes saying that we played really well, there is a difference between playing really well and having more possession than the team you play against, there needs to be an end product. Cleverley is way out of his depth at United and is a squad player at best. Young is a complete waste of time and should be moved on. Anderson shouldn't be at the club now. Why did he go for Giggs when Kagawa was on the bench? Kagawa was the kind of player that could have unlocked the Liverpool defence with a bit of magic.
Im sick of seeing Giggs getting into the first 11, it shouldn't be happening now, its a joke!

Kagawa didn't even make the bench yday?
Mystified

Kagawa wasn't on the bench.

Although we need central midfielders and I want to see us sign central midfielders, the midfield was fine yesterday. They more than dealt with Gerrard, Lucas & Co. For me it was the wingers that disappointed. Every time the ball made it to the wings they either lost possession or it was a poor delivery. I am all for signing a top midfielder, but yesterday the midfield was not to blame.

4.) 02 Sep 2013
Sorry guys I didn't realise. I didn't manage to get to the game yesterday due to work and missed the first 5 mins. You get my meaning though.

5.) 02 Sep 2013
Syd. you have lost your marbles.
Cleverley was shocking yesterday, he barely moved the ball forward. Sideway passing 99% of the time.
Carrick first touch was terrible, even he struggled yesterday.
We are desperate for a central midfielder, if you actually think that Tom Cleverley and Micheal Carrick are going to win us the Premiership this year you are deluded my friend.
Possession is all good and well but it's the end product.
Cleverley never passes forward, is weak in the tackle, isn't very athletic, doesn't score goals and doesn't create chances.

Simmo, the midfield was fine and if you read my post you will see that I am all for signing two more midfielders. I have never been against it.

You have clearly described Carrick with your last paragraph and he was one of the EPL's best midfielders last season, so how's that?

I agree with Simmo.

Cleverly is poor and IMO has no bottle. He is so scared of trying to dribble past a player or a even a trying a telling pass and his standard ammo is to pass it back to a winger who is already covered or pass backwards to the CB. He just does not have the class a good midfielder has by creating some space for himself even when slightly covered.

He will never be good enough and in all honesty is good for cup games as a squad player.

It is no coincidence that the top 5 or 6 clubs in england have almost no English/British players in their midfield with the exception of Lampard, Gerrard, Wilshire. Look at all purchases this summer/last summer etc etc and where the midfielders are coming from.

Frank Lampard at 33 is 10 times a better player than Cleverly. England has not produced one decent midfielder with Wilshire the exception since Scholes, Lampard and Gerrard era which is 10 to 15 years ago.

The midfield wasn't fine, it lacked creativity. RVP got no service at all. Cleverley rarely made a pass forward which is nothing new.
What I am saying was that I thought Carrick didn't have a good game yesterday.
If you think that the midfield was fine yesterday you clearly need to look at the game again.
What's the point in having lots of possession and doing sod all with it.
I could walk onto the pitch and make between 20 and 30 sideway passes and run away.
Sorry mate I have to completely dissagree with you on that one.

WTF man. That peformance yesterday had all of our posession go from CB to FB to wing to losing it. I agree the wings and delivery was poor but by christ they were nowhere near as bad as the CM.

Neither were even offering options for our CB's to give them it. I forgot how many times Clevs hid behind an oppo player, how many times when pressed by a forward BOTH of them passed back, etc etc same story as Chelsea game against a different team.

If you think Carrick and Clev dominated Gerrard, Lucas and Henderson you need to watch the game again!

Those three the same as Chelseas played a triangle in front of the defense as a second bank. Hardly moved all game because they didn't have to. So Coutinho, Sturridge and Asspuss harried the ball holders into pushing it back or wide. It was like watching Scotland except we can score two playing like that as we are used to it.

Our CM 2 were never in and amongst their CM to even say we dealt with f**k all. they couldn't even get the ball passed the forward three, same as the Chelsea game. A false perception that we dominated when all we had was the ball in our own half and even then struggling to keep it under pressure.

Both of them created absolutely nothing. Nothing in a game we had so much posession and yet we dealt with the opposition well?

We had to deal with counter attacks for 87 minutes. Gerrrard and Lucas never left their half. Didn't bloody need to.

It beggers belief what game other people are watching as in the one I seen we were totally predictable out wide and CM was disgusting.

Carrick and Cleverley's job is to sit deep in midfield and get the ball to Giggs (hole) and to the wings. Not to burst forward like Scholes used to do, that is not the tactic. Cleverley is a better player when played in a more advanced position, but that was not his job yesterday. That would be Kagawa's or Rooney's job or Giggs' job yesterday.

Carrick does even less than Cleverley in most games yet never gets any grief. Strange that isn't it??? They both play the same exact role in the team.

11.) 02 Sep 2013
I have NEVER been against strengthening our midfield. I am ALL for buying Herrera and Fellaini, but do not think these players with be a massive improvement on what we have. It's the tactics that are flawed IMO and the fact our wingers are so poor.

12.) 02 Sep 2013
Cleverley couldn't set RVP up in a knocking shop never mind on the pitch.
It's dreadfull!

13.) 02 Sep 2013
So Carrick and Clevs job is to sit deep and yet they more than dealt with Liverpools three who sat in front of their defense?

Good one.

Our two couldn't get the ball past their front three to even find giggs nevermind get as far forward as to 'deal' with their CM.

14.) 02 Sep 2013
"Cleverley couldn't set RVP up in a knocking shop never mind on the pitch.
It's dreadfull!"

AGAIN, that isn't his job. His job is to get the ball to Giggs (hole), Welbeck & Young (wings) and it's their job to find RvP. All Cleverley and Carrick do is add protection to the back four, intercept opposition passes and get the ball off of the CB's and get the ball to the wings and Rooney/Kagawa. Did Lucas Leiva burst forward and score goals? Does Allen do that? NO, it's not their job.

I did not realize that our midfielders have a DMZ line that they should not cross :).

Very strange how you don't see how limited he is as a player. If he was on the market today, I doubt we could get more than 12 million pounds and that generally is a player who sits on the bench for most big clubs with the occasional sub appearance and not good enough for one of the largest clubs in the world if you ask me.

I would be interested to see his minutes played to assists ratio or shot/ shots on target at the end of the year.
