Really excited about new season: reading loads of articles about how LVG will transform us, use 353 and then change to 433 in a heartbeat, develop youth, reinvigorate under performers, adopt Van Persie and solve world hunger.

(Mixed feelings about Holland doing well: on one hand, Dutch youngsters will idolise him even more if they progress and want to come to united; other hand, be nice to get him to OT make a start/announce some signings!)

Anyway, LVG famed for ability to spot players' best positions and convert them so I reckon:

Valencia converted to speedy wing back
Rooney converted to CM
Phil jones converted to CM
Maybe even Evans to holding CM?,
Welbeck to speedy left winger
Fellini to Central defender
Powell to striker

(And Young to groundsman)

Any thoughts on other changes he might do?

I have to pitch in here with a long assessment of this post.

All of these, bar Evans in midfield, have been tried unsuccesfully in the past. We have watched these players for years, we all know their best positions.

Valencia does not have the awareness to play wing back or full back, defensively he is poor. He gets caught out whenever he plays there by switching off. He also isn't brave enough after his injury against Rangers.

Rooney is a striker who can play as a number 10. He is not a central midfielder. He has certain qualities that can allow him to fill in there on the odd ocassion, but not long term.

Jones is a central defender and MIST start playing their regularly to fulfill hos potential. He is only useful in midfield to do a man to man marking job on a serious threat ie Ronaldo at the Bernabeu in 2013.

Evans in midfield? Come on.

Welbeck, I don't know what he is to be honest. He doesn't have the composure or finishing ability to be a regular number 9, or the intelligence to play as a supporting striker. He can stretch teams with his pace in behind or out wide, but his use of the ball is not good enough for a pro footballer let alone a certain position.

We have done enough messing about with Fellaini to embarrass ourselves since signing him. He is either a squad player used as a box to box midfielder at United or nothing. Simple.

Powell has a great eye for goal but will probably always be deployed slightly deeper as he has many other qualities. A bit like Rooney in that sense.

If Young is made groundman the pitch will be turned into a swimming pool
