I'm glad Simonpw doesn't just judge Di Maria on one game, very noble of him. So is he judging him on being arguably the best player at Real last season or being one of the world cup finalist's finest players?
If I remember correctly both he and Big Al spoke favourably of Lallana's acquisition in comparison with Di Maria, before he had kicked a ball in a competitive game for Lfc? Which would have been based on what, a good season at Southampton and a few England caps?

We are all biased as fans to some degree but there are different levels of bias and then there is delusion ;)
I do make Simon right on one thing, I too think Di Maria 'might' get in the Lfc team. He would have to work hard to get in ahead of Markovic, Coutinho (great on his day but those days are rare) or Allen but I think he'd he'd get a few games here and there!

I can honestly say I never compared Di Maria with Lallana. I have never questioned his pedigree or that of Falcao. My only point was that I would reserve my judgement on both until they had played games against better opposition in the Premiership which is the where they are going to play now.
I don't think that's biased or deluded. I do the same with our own players.
A squad of champions who don't play as a team will not win consistently as was proven last year.
If you can recreate the winning formula then who knows how far you can go.
I certainly am not naive enough to predict who's going to finish where at the start of the season.
I am as optimistic as the next guy as to where I hope that will be, but optimism and delusion are 2 different things.
