Ok so having already stated I don't really watch any football outside of the epl can anybody who watches la liga give their opinion on Nicolas Otamendi ? Is he what we're looking for ? What kind of player is he ? A rio, a vidic or more of a hummels ball playing type. Thanks in advance

He was by far the best defender in la liga last season. He is a vidic more than a Rio. He is powerful, strong, relatively quick. He is not the tallest, but is good in the air.

He scores a lot from set pieces. Headers, not taking a free kick. He reads the game well. Would be vidic with smelling being the Rio replacement.

All I know is that he is more of a Vidic than Rio. He has had an immense season with Valencia and has been one of the best defenders in Europe last season.

He a Rio in that he has lots of pace and is good with his feet but he dosen't have Rio strenght or height

Lets hope if we do sign him its on a long contract we all know how the latino players feel about going back to Spain when the big 2 come calling.

Let's not forget, he had a fantastic partner in Mustafi last year. I'm not saying Mustafi is better, but they complimented each other very well in La Liga last year.
