I think ading Stones could make a difference. Back four of Darmian, Smalling, Stones and Shaw is young and exciting backed up by DDG. This then frees up Blind to play the holding mid role which is his position, which in turn frees up Ander and Morgan to play a role of box to box swapping defensive duties.

Add Rooney in to that too and that's a good side. Front three of Martial, new striker and new Right winger, rotating with Rashford, Memphis and hopefully Janujaj I think we will be sorted.

I honestly think Stones going Manchester City.

If we had a central pairing of stones and smalling we would concede shedloads both have poor positional sense and both bring the ball out and lose it.

Can't see Pep going in for Stones.
Chelsea maybe.

I would take Verane over Stones. I think Stones has a lot of upside if he matures and focuses on defending. the ball playing aspect is natural to him as it was with Rio. Take less risks and have a solid player next to him.
Which begs the question of Mike Smalling. is he that player or does he also need a calming solid defender beside him.
If you look at Leicester they are there 2 are built to defend. and be a nuisance at corners. This is potentially what we lack.

By the looks of what was said on the city page, Stones is interesting them. I can see them going all out for him IMO. I like Stones and i go to the majority of the Everton home games, but he is not what we need. We need a solid CB, think Mustafi/ Benatia/ Godin.

Think we need our new CB to be a leader. The back 4 has to work as a unit and there's a lack of communication at the moment. Smalling and stones both lack positional awareness the 2 of them side by side could be a disaster.

I think we might need 2 CB's Varane for the longer term and an experienced premiership CB capable of leading as a stop gap whilst Varane settles in and either Smalling develops or is replaced.

Blind I think is an excellent squad player but isn't good enough at any one position to make it his own. He lacks the mobility to play the Kante/ Matic role.

Martial at left forward Morata, Dybala, Griezzmann or Icardi at CF and Mahrez, Mane or Berardi at RW should provide pace and movement up top and make space for runners from midfield to exploit

Rooney. let's just not go there.

Have you actually seen Stones play? He cannot defend. He is not what we need in the slightest. If we are going to be more attacking then Stones is the last player we should go for.

We need an experienced beetroot eating cb.
