Right this Pogba debate is getting a bit repetitive now. We seem to be going over and over the same points.

Funny thing is I feel both sides have a point.

Yes he choose to walk out on us, and can be considered by some as a mercenary. But don't all professionals play for money? How many of us would stay at a company that trained us for a few years, but didn't seem to value us which showed not only in the lower wages than other companies are offering but also by not giving us any responsibilties. We'd all probably leave right?

I don't think you can write off the fee as "just the way football is going these days". It is setting a precedent and we are making a rod for our own backs. Plus where do people think the money comes from? Yes we have a lot of commerical deals but those haven't brought the cost of a ticket down nor the cost of mercandise such as shirts. The TV money used to pay for players comes from the massive fees fans pay to Sky to watch games. When the average fan will spend £1500 on a season ticket, £100 for a t-shirt, plus £600 a year for Sky TV meaning £2200 a year on supporting their club, or more than 15% of the average wage. Then no one can claim fans aren't paying for these massive transfer fees.

Does that mean we shouldn't sign players for record fees? Of course not the club still needs to compete in the modern world not the ideal one. But a certain amount of caution should be used in spending such large fees.

The only other point is Pogba's poor (ish) form during the Euro's. How many times have people said you can't put too much into players international form. Sissoko looks a world beater based on his last two performances is a great example.

If Pogba signs we should be happy, but cautious not to put too much expectation on him. If he is part of the new managers plans then so be it. We didn't whinge when we spent on Di Maria for a previous manager, or on Mata for the one before. Nor did we complain when we routinely broke our transfer record during Sir Alex's time.

I think we need a player like matuidi more than pogba matuidi is a machine can do everything get him and give timothy fusu mensah a shot in midfield save us 70 million hfully get another central defender.

{Ed001's Note - isn't Fosu Mensah capable of playing the Matuidi role?}

I don't think we should sign him, but he wasn't poor at the euros.

Very capable, 001. I don't think people realise just how big of a future Fosu-Mensah may well have with us. I loved the game vs Everton where he gave te ball to Herrera and then signalled for him to calm down, if you didn't know better you'd have thought he was a regular and Herrera was the one playing only his fifth game.

Also, Troy Deeney on MOTD said that TFM was one of the hardest defenders he has ever played against, stating how he know how Baines felt after being absolutely crunched by TFM himself. I would bet my mortgage (if I had one lol) on him becoming a top top player for us. He has everything.

{Ed001's Note - I agree, I really rate that lad.}
