Morning Guys,

I was wondering what the general consensus is on here about Mata? Should he stay or should he go?

I think we are all in agreement that Januzaj should go. His attitude stinks. Tuchel, LVG and Mourinho have all taken a dislike to him after just a few weeks of being around him and reports suggest he thinks he is the business. I can't see it being another Pogba scenario where we regret it.

I don't think anyone would mind Rojo leaving either, but the jury is definitely out on Mata and perhaps Schweinsteiger too.

My personal opinion is that, unless he is replaced, I'd want Mata to stay. There are the usual rumours going around about James being linked to us, but I can't see it myself.

I would love Mata to stay and be our permanent no.10. However with Rooney in the side I see no space for him. I guess time will tell.

I'd rather have Mata than James especially for the sum they'd want for him I like Mata he's a great guy and a proper footballer because of that I'd like to see him perform in a league where he's more suited say Italy for instance.
Bastians best move is the MLS imo not sure if the windows still open

Perhaps schweinsteiger? He is definitely going fresh, he won't get a game under Jose and is looking for another club.

I don't mind either way with Mata, he isn't good enough to start for us but if he wants to work hard, be a great squad player and play in the Europa league and cups then fair play to him.

I feel Mata is too slow and weak for the PL. However he is definitely skillful and very fitting to play in Europa. He should captain the Europa team as he has good experience. The younger lads can learn from him and he is definitely good as #10 position.
Rooney . has to step up and should not be an automatic start unless he proves his fitness. This is only my opinion but obviously Mou will know best.

Keep Mata loose Fellini and schwiny, with the right players around him I think mate would be a great player to have around.

I don't think Bastian is the type of person to see out his contract just to collect the wages. I think he genuinely wants to play football every weekend. Granted he was LVG's golden boy and he got away with more than others would, but I'd love to see him turn out for someone like Bournemouth, a footballing side where he can be a star again.

For someone who is "too slow and weak for the PL" I think Mata has done pretty well considering between us and Chelsea he has scored 46 goals and had 54 assists. I wish all our players could be "too slow and weak for the PL" if they get that sort of return.

If someone comes in and offers £15m+ for Mata I would take it, especially since Mourinho has shown himself not to be his greatest fan. He has two years left on his contract, so now would be the best time. Then if Schweinsteiger this summer, and Rooney next, went on virtually free transfers, removing a substantial wage burden, it would complete the transformation of the club and open up the way for one or even two blockbuster signings in 2017.

I have said before that he is not a Mourinho player so the best outcome all round is for him to leave.
However if he stays I think he will be a good squad player and start in some games.
I just think looking at how Mourinho likes to play he does not suit.

I'd love mata to stay and be our permenant number 10. Other than a yard of pace I don't understand how anybody wouldn't love him in there team. He's an exceptionally gifted footballer!

4 or 5 yards of pace and he is way too weak and gets knocked off the ball far too easily. He clearly has a great footballing brain and great technique, he gets assists but for the rest of the game he loses the ball to easily. Top bloke, but not good enough.

My starting line up would be Rashford, Miki, Martial behind Zlatan, not sure Rooney not playing means Mata does.

I echo everyone who has called for Mata to be our number 10. With Lingard, Martial, Rashford, Micky, Depay, Shaw and Valencia as full backs we have plenty of pace. With Zlat we have a strong target man who will protect the ball when given it so a nice target for Mata to get the ball forward to and play off and with Pogba and Schneiderlin there is plenty of legs and mileage in CM. But what Mata brings to the party would be some much needed needle threading passes and composure on the ball and also his goal scoring is not bad either!

15 mill? No chance. i'd rather keep him than undersell. He's approaching his peak years. One of the best attacking players in the league with a good goals to appearance ratio. If average players like Bolasie with his poor goals return are costing 30 mill than Mata has to be worth the same.

I would definitely keep Mata but Schweinsteiger has no future here.
