If transfer rumours crually complete as being predicted, who do you think will have the strongest midfield amongst top 6 clubs?

I'll put my hat in and say us, with Pogba, Herrera and Matic: Chelsea will have the better DM in Kante, but Oigba is a better version of Bakayoko plus we have Herrera (plus Carrick and Fellaini) while Chelsea have Fabregas.

I imagine Fans from other clubs will have strong opinions here, so please be nice!

Pogba-Herrera-Matic would be really strong indeed. However, Kante-Bakayoko would be really strong as well. It wouldn't give much going forward, but it could be very destructive defensively. It depends on how Bakayoko would adapt I suppose. I don't think Bakayoko is similar to Pogba by the way. Pogba is average defensively while Bakayoko's defense is his strongest point probably. They're different players. Pogba is much more attacking, which is probably why Mourinho wants to add another more defensive minded midfielder to allow Pogba to play in a more attacking manner.
Arsenal's midfield isn't anything to worry about.
City rely on Toure (his legs have nearly gone) and Gundogan (perma-crocked that one) . For the rest they have Fernandinho, quite a good player, and attacking midfielders making up the numbers in central midfield. Again, I don't think it's City's strong point.
Pool has a pretty good midfield with Can, Lallana, Henderson and Wijnaldum. But United's midfield is easily the better of the 2 in my opinion. All those players are good, but they're not special, and they're not winners. Pogba has that special quality, Herrera is a tireless worker, and Matic knows how to win.
Wanyama and Dembele make for a fine CM duo. They're very solid, and I think I'd rate them about equal to a potential Kante-Bakayoko partnership. Both CM combos would be very good defensively, but potentially missing that spark a bit offensively.

All in all, I think you guys would have the PL's best central midfield. It has power, solidity and that creative spark in Pogba. After that I think Chelsea and Spurs would have very solid CMs (if Bakayoko joins), which is what's needed in a 343 formation. Pool's is pretty good as well, but missing that special quality a bit.
This is all coming from a Chelsea fan by the way. I'd hate to see us sell Matic to you. Our depth in CM goes to shit, while you guys get an ideal partner for Herrera-Pogba.

If we sign Fabinho, we'll have the best CDM in the League. Kante isn't even a DM really.

Fabinho, Herrera, Pogba would by far be a better grouping than Matic, Herrera, Pogba. However, I wouldn't be object to either!

If reports today are to be believed and we sign Matic and Nainggolan, then we'll have a ridiculous midfield. I know a lot have their reservations about Nainggolan but the bloke is immense and I'm sure IF Jose is really after him, he would've done his research on his attitude/ behaviour. Would love to see him in our midfield next year.

I agree MPez solely on the fact that fabinho has more youth and pace in his game. doesn't have the experience of matic, but surely that's why carrick is still there. get fabinho in and let the trio all grow up together. imagine them in 3 seasons time after playing with each other. best midfield in world football I'd say.

MPez, Fabinho is a right back by trade. It's a bit rich saying he'd instantly become the best CDM in the league just because he's signing for us, or is it another case of any player we're linked with is suddenly world class (Morata) . Wanyama, Kante, even Dier and Herrera are better DM's than Fabinho. He wouldn't even be in the top 5 DM's in the league never mind THE best, given his reported laziness/ failure to recover when losing possession - which is arguably a DM's main duty.

we will strengthen in the right places JM knows his $hit for sure. We already have a excellent ball playing rugged CD an improvement on what we had and more to come I have no doubt we will be challenging on all fronts any of Matic Fabinho Nianngolan (my prefered choice) who ever comes in will make us better that's a given we have cash and a master mind in charge.

Not sure if I'd want Naigollan, maybe burn out soon, almist Rooney-esque. I'm no expert but Fabhino sounds like a more skilful player than Matic, but I'd rather have a premiership proven DM who Jose knows will follow instructions to the letter - Fabbo prob one for the future, or hopefully right back!

Really informative posts tho, especially Jackson, cheers fella.

Wazza, find me the last time he played as a RB. I think you'll be rather surprised. It has nothing to do with the fact he's potentially signing for us, it has to do with the fact that Monaco were arguably the most exciting team in Europe this past season, both domestically and in the UCL.

Sure, Gareth Bale is a LB by trade, what in the world is he doing playing at Right Wing as the second most expensive player ever. Cristiano is a winger by trade, what in the world is he doing winning the Ballon D'Or as a striker, mystifying.

The fact you have even mentioned Wanyama in the same breath is laughable. However, i'd love to know where you got this nonsensical idea that he fails to recover balls, given that he had the most successful tackles in Ligue 1 last season. Between this and the Pogba comment i'm starting to believe you don't actually watch football that much, would that be a fair statement?

Unfortunatly Mpez it would appear he reads all his opinions online. Doubt he's ever watched Morata or Fabinho play. This is the man that said morata didn't do well at Juve!
