Talk of United looking likely to appoint Paul Mitchell as DOF from Leipzig, any of the Ed's know if this could be a good appointment for the club? The right choice?

What happened with the supposed approach for Berta at Atletico?

{Ed002's Note - Andrea Berta was the Director of Football chosen as the desired choice of Mr Mourinho in 2016 and the club were looking for a Director of Football and Berta was one of the two that Mr Mourinho was comfortable with = but he has since then been promoted from his position as Technical Director to the co-ordination role of Director of Football which might well suit Woodward but would not address the true problem the club has. If appointed to a similar role at MU it would be another major mistake.}

It would be speculation however it sounds like the decision maker is the continuing problem. If Woodward is the decision maker he would be the interviewing appointing person so you have to think we would be unlikely to see the appointment of someone who will disagree with him or the direction he sees for the club. If Woodward has been setting the direction for the club and the last 5 years are anything to go by plus he appoints a nodding donkey DOF, I could see it getting worse. I would be concerned at appointing a DOF reporting to Woodward also creates another management layer that could be blamed for failure, so there would be two potential sackings rather than one before the issue of blame arrives at Woodwards door. It may be my opinion, which I gave on here months ago, but the owners should obtain independent advice and appoint a DOF themselves to report to the board and not to Woodward. Either get rid of Woodward or put him back to Financial matters and obtaining more noodelly noodle partners.

The fact Ed’s reply is based on 2016 says it all really and shows just how long this process has been drawn out. I wouldn’t want a snap desicion of course not but approx 3 years seems to long to me. Why can’t we just make a short list of qualified candidates and just employ one.
