Surprising to read the criticism of Diogo Dalot in various places from united fans. The lad looks a real talent. Ok, has been caught out defensively a couple of times but he's a young lad learning his trade at the top level. The defensive side to his game will come with experience. Attacking wise I think he's great, nice to see a right back getting forward and into the box to try and score or assist. I hope Dalot can nail down a first team spot in the months to come as he is someone in this new United way of playing that can really prosper.

welsh red we have to find some sort of way to moan it can't all be sunshine and roses.

jokes aside i like the kid, give him another 12-18 months of regular first team football and the views will be different, finally a defender that can cross a ball.

Too early to judge. A defender should be able to defend, that's his job if he doesn't the defencive line is obviously weaker than it should be. In the modern game -and Ole mentioned this a few days ago- the full backs have to push on and fly up that line. So its not an easy position to play but he should be first and foremost a defender.

Denis Irwin could do it, so could Evra . Kyle Walker not so much.

Whoever plays right back for us is going to have one tough job on their hands as things currently stand.

Primarily because we do not play with a right winger. Mata or lingard always drift in which has its benefits but it leaves a whole side of the pitch for the full back to cover offensively and leaves him with minimal protection defensively.

On the left its a different story with martial playing left wing which means shaw can hang back and leave martial to take on his full back 1 on 1 which he is getting better and better at.

Find an equivalent of martial for the right wing (chong or a new signing) and diogo dalot should have an easier time of it.

Welsh, it's the tired old game of judging personnel on a game by game basis, rather than over a period of time. The joy of living in a disposable society with a short attention span.

Lots of time for him yet.

I would rather watch a flying Dalot down the right wing make some great runs and crosses along with the odd defensive mistake as he learns his trade. Instead of a boring Antonio Valencia holding back, playing the safe option everytime.

People also often confuse criticism with pointing out areas for improvement.

On a lighter note, the Liverpool fans "defending" of the Salah dive has been world class.

Supposed to be one of the best in Europe for his age. Give him time and patience, realistically 100 games.
