Ed,

If Lukaku leaves, Is there a player we would look to replace him with and do you know who would that be? .

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware right now.}

Would be very worrying if we don't bring in a back up striker to rashford. I don't think he's ready to lead the line alone for us.

Thanks Ed.

It depends on how we are going to line up. If we play with one striker then Rashford, Martial and Greenwood means we have enough players to cover. Although you could argue wether those players are good enough or ready.

When we talk about having to replace a player we should look at the contribution they made last season.

I would argue that you could sell/ release Valencia, Darmian, Rojo and Grant without replacing them as none had any impact for us last season. You could argue that Mata and Sanchez didn't have much if any impact so wouldn't need replacing.

Although if the club want to move forward then it's not replacing players who had minimal impact that's needed but an upgrade on those who played often but didn't impact the team.

I am sure they will have plans for bringing someone else in but they may also like the idea of Radhford, Martial and Greenwood competing for the front position whether as a 1 or a 2.
Whichever is the scenario I want us to energetic up front.

Shappy,

So you would be happy with Rashford or Martial leading the line next year?

Lukaku is a better striker currently then both Rashford or Martial but he is just not a striker that is suited to us as he lacks overall gameplay and loses the ball far too often.

I wouldn't want Lukaku in the team but i would be against just havin Rashford or Martial leading the line as i don't think they are fully ready or they might just not be good enough.

Anyways let's see what happens.

Rashfords problem. is he takes too many shots and just tries doing everything on his own.

Martial takes fewer chances but looks like a lazy player that doesn't give his all.

I don't think any of these two fill me with confidence.

Greenwood isn't ready and needs to be eased in. Rashford is inconsistent and Martial I've given up on. We would need another.

Singh, you will never know if they are either good enough or fully ready if you don't give them a full chance.

What do we have to lose? there's hardly any high stakes champions league games next season where rashford, greenwood or martial will get exposed.

Although the recent tribute to the 90’s and fergies time is getting tiresome, one idea that will never old is giving young players a chance.

Factor in that we have so many other areas to strengthen, striker is the least of our worries.

No I'm all for giving youth a chance. But say one of them has a serious injury. We're down to two. What then.

Oles preferred formation seems to be 4-3-3, that leaves two to battle it out for that central striker spot.

We could actually sign some wingers to play on the wing for once. That would be a novel idea.

Its a gamble going with Rash and Martial. as our main strikers but you guys could be right you never know what they will produce.

I think if are going to go with Radh and Martial as our main striekrs then we definitely need a goal scoring midfielder like Fernandes and he might turn out to be a brilliant signing for us if we manage to sign him.

Play Sanchez up top.

We have a proven 20+ scorer in our ranks in Sanchez. However everyone is a lost cause on this site. So dull.

Eric, Sanchez is not the answer he is never going to score 20 goals for us let alone in 1 season.

Be great to get an experienced striker in that our younger strikers Rashford, Greenwood and Martial (hard to even class as young now, should really be doing the business regularly) could learn from while also taking the burden off them. Maybe a Cavani or someone along them lines.

Hard to class them as young? Greenwood is 17, Rashford is 21, Martial is 23. Get a grip.

Apparently if Lukaku goes ole wants to add height up front. We all agree we need an older experienced player preferably premier league proven.

Woodwork here's this he'll sign Crouch.

If we bring in new players on the wings then we would not necessarily need an additional CF.

With a new quality RB and RW plus someone at LW then Martial, Rashford and Greenwood would be enough for one season at least.

If they all get a reasonable amount of game time then in 12 months time it would be clear if we needed a new striker and if Martial needed to be sold etc

Ole has clearly stated that the rebuild will take 2/ 3 seasons.
We need a top quality CB and RB so that we defend better and have balance on both sides.

If Pogba also leaves and we bring in some CM and AM players then we have a real chance of improvement next season.

Having a strike force of Rashford, Martial and Greenwood wouldn't be my ideal situation for next season. But if we play a single striker system then we have enough players as three is the most you would want.

I would have concerns over whether Rashford and Martial are ready to carry the scoring burden, yet unless given the chance we will never know.

In an ideal world Martial would be replaced as well. But then we can't replace 15-18 players in one window which is what we need. So we will have to accept that we will have some players here next season we would rather have replaced.

On the whole I think Martial fits better into what Ole wants than Lukaku. So if one of them have to remain next season it's better if it's Martial.

{Ed004's Note - Hoping for Felix and James myself. Feel like Rashford and Felix can both play as the striker, Lingard and James can cover right side while Martial would be the main man on the left they can all play there. Greenwood would then have a proper chance of breaking into the side as well. If Fernandes rumours are true, the you would expect him and Pogba to contribute goals from midfield}

The worrying thing is i think we are not signing a cb this year and are deciding to give Smalling and co another chance which will be a huge mistake.

There is also a report that Solsjaer is against digning a cb but Woodeard wants Toby because he has a small release clause.
